I agree with you but you have to put what Dean said in context. I think Dean's publicity driven climb on delicate arch did not take into consideration anyone besides himself, which in this case is not a noble thing. It is likely that his camera crew left rope grooves into Utah's most iconic rock formation. To glibly respond to the people who confronted him, "why shouldn't I do whatever I want? is not admirable. You'd have to agree with that.

@ceshwan I can't imagine it was his ropes that did it. Unless he fell there would have never been enough tension to do that. However it isn't illegal to climb the arch and people probably just felt like they needed to bitch about something on the news, like everyone seems to do. If it was just a word of mouth I guarantee no one would care. Like Dean said he wouldn't climb totem pole in monument valley because of religious significance, yet the arch is just a picture on a license plate.

@ceshwan I am not a resident of Utah, so I don't feel anything for the Arch, but I am pretty sure it wouldn't bother me if I were a resident of the state. I would have never thought people would have cared.

But again I am not a resident of Utah so maybe people there feel differently about it then I do about the flowers on our license plates here.
