@24Slexani have fun paying for the ammo. I'll burn ten mags for $4 and you can go through a cylinder for the same. For carry, you're right. For plinking, you're being sophomoric.
@TinaDoll420 The primer is actually the rim area of the brass casing. The primer material is distributed around the inside of the rim, which is why you will see the primer strike on the edge of the brass casing rather than in the middle on a clearly visible primer on a centerfire cartridge.
@petter405 They do need primers. The primer is on a .22LR is the rim of the case. On a centerfire, the priming compound is in the little round metal piece bottom center on the case. On a rimfire, the compound is spread around inside the rim of the case. On a centerfire, the hammer strikes the bottom of the cartridge in the center, where the separate primer is, igniting the priming compound, which ignites the primary load. On a rimfire, the hammer strikes the rim of the case, doing the same thing

I ve only taken mine apart once (when i 1st got it) never again but man it still runs good 5000 rds later and all i do is spray some break free in it and clean the feed ramp.
Thank you...btw I accidentally removed your comment to Air Rifle Hunting :( I was trying to reply and i hit remove instead...thank you for explaining what they just don't get. I love my Ruger MKIII but it is quite loud...ear protection is always a must! I prefer foamy ones myself ;)

Because the primer is in the rim of the bullet hence the name rimfire.

@petter405 i know you posted this aggges ago, but for any one else that doesnt know. The base of all rimfire cartridges is the primer
StunnedMutha 1 year ago
@petter405 They do, need, and have primers. The primers are in the rim of the casing not in the center, thus rim-fire
robotmanx2009 11 months ago
@petter405 rimfire rounds have a primer built into the round itself. When a rimfire is fired it leaves a mark on the rim, hense the name rimfire.

I recently bought a Ruger mark III, it shoots beautifully and accurate but it was a real pain to reassemble the first time, but I got it now.

whats the difference between the mark 2 and mark 3?
coasterfreak456 2 years ago
Wiki sez:
- visible loaded chamber indicator
- mag release moved from bottom of grip to behind triggerguard
- Mark IIIs with adjustable sights are drilled & tapped for a Weaver-style scope base (included)
- magazine disconnect prevents pistol from being fired with no mag
- internal keyed safety lock
- shorter tapered bolt ears

Very good shooting but its probebly not a good idea to shoot a metal target at that range due to rebound.
