  • Always thought it was "over east mistakes were made"

  • time less tonic but despare lingures to be comforted by beauty and hope!

  • Something just occured to me after all these years: the chordprogression is the same like the ending of Iggy Pop - Gimme Danger ! I don't care which was first as I'm a huge fan of both, but it's funny to find new things in your favourite music after having listened to it over and over again for so many years.

  • @Droyd21 Two of my favourite songs ever, and I hadn't noticed... Thanks!

  • I've been listening to this song for hours :S It's so good

  • AMO ESSA CANÇAO ,PERFEITA O IAN SO DEIXOU SAUDADES EM CADA MUSICA

  • We'll share a drink and step outside, An angry voice and one who cried, 'We'll give you everything and more, The strain's too much, can't take much more.' I've walked on water, run through fire, Can't seem to feel it anymore. It was me, waiting for me, Hoping for something more, Me, seeing me this time, Hoping for something else.
  • A change of speed, a change of style.

A change of scene, with no regrets,

A chance to watch, admire the distance,

    Still occupied, though you forget.

    Different colours, different shades,

    Over each mistakes were made.

    I took the blame.

    Directionless so plain to see,

A loaded gun won't set you free.

    So you say.

  • FUCK!!!!i think this is moby!!!!! one norm song of this bald jerk!!!!!! original forever!!!!!!!! \м/

  • I love it

  • My mate said a "loaded gun wont set you free" is a shit lyric

Needless to say in practice he is now free

  • okay...i needa stop listening to joy division man. it's too fucking intense. i think i'm literally going to go mad. i'm gonna go on vevo now and just listen to whatever pop crap their advertising . maybe some rhianna IDK, I JUST NEED TO GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!

  • @phoney98 haha I know what're talking about man.

  • @phoney98 I know right? It's like your feeling change with each song, it's amazing

  • @lilwelshladee omg...i'm EXACTLY THE SAME! it's like it's so good i want to kill myself. not because the songs make me sad, i quite enjoy them actually, it's just, IDK their sooo intense, i lose my mind a bit :^)

  • @MayIRemindYouSumtin I totally agree. I feel that Kurt Cobain just followed in Ian Curtis's footsteps. Not that he didn't have his own problems, he just choose the same path.

  • Maybe nowdays we don`t have a good music in mainstream...but we have the bless to see everything from the `60 to this day what is good...

  • @lilwelshladee I completely agree. Thank God we made it.

  • I have alot to say but I say it in a way that wont murder innocent vulnerable people.

  • me seeing me this time, hoping for something else... harsh :(

  • @lilwelshladee wats hiatus?

  • @skynet1234567890

    Try en. wiktionary. org

  • There is an S word I'd use but there might be young viewers.

  • @fabulousgerro66 so what you're saying is that you have nothing relevant to say.

  • Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see,

    and hear.

Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans

learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear... is less than one

millionth of reality..........The Fading of a New Dawn.

  • Can anyone recommend any bands similar in sound and the kind of dark style? I have mainly stuck to Floyd, Syd Barrett and Led Zep and that sort of thing. Always known of JD but only really the last 6 months I have started to explore all their music. Have stocked up on films, cds and books of them and Ian and think they and him were amazing. Love the sound though..

  • @dalgroves10 maybe "The Chameleons"

  • @dalgroves10 try any new stufff maybe? more electronic and less organic and acustic, still: New Division, John Maus, Gardens & Villa, just to name a few. Love it or hate it, though :)

  • @dalgroves10 Durutti Column is in the general direction

  • nothing compares to joy division...fact

  • @13125MANUNITED

you are so right ,friend....nothing compared to joy division....IAN is god in pure form

  • How many Sheep have fallen over this Satanic sound. When God gives me lemons I make lemonade not a sour puss. Age brings experience and reduces pathos except in love.

  • @fabulousgerro66 and how many resilient minds have escaped the pathology of religious thought to find solace, spirituality, strength, solidarity- and lots of other good s- words- in great music that is not afraid to explore and express the darkness, which is every bit as valid in finding wisdom as is the light?

  • @TheGuyFromThatMovie What I think is missing from the mainstream is people and bands like JD that spent time THINKING and for themselves and made music they felt, not what someone told them others would want and pay money for.... There is there is infinite difference between those two worlds.

  • Dubstep?

  • @Document3Music You kidding me, dude? This is real music.

  • @FabyoMty Just saying that maybe JD helped pioneer Dubstep, it's a thought

  • @Document3Music while joy division did prove to be one of the single most influential groups to come out of the time frame that they so briefly existed in, and, yes, industrial music was greatly influenced, dubstep can not be included. although, many dj's love new order, and in a sense, you could easily speculate that new order (the remaining members of joy division after ian curtis' suicide) did in fact inadvertently influence the direction that electronic music moved... not much else.

  • Comment removed

  • @fleaby your comment has nothing to do with what i said.

  • @FabyoMty it is NOT maybe to IAN but IAN is no longer with us. they were pretty satirical about atrociousness and IAN was more or less too religious.

  • @mediattackrecords Did I missed something? I didn't talk about religion at all in my comment. And honestly, who cares? Joy Division is great by itself, I don't care if they are christians, jews or neo-nazis, as some say.

  • @Document3Music Fuck no.

I don't hear any transformers here.

  • Fantastic tune, makes me angry and happy as a child at the same time, and i'm 40 years old, listening to NO and Yoy Division since i was 12....

  • Producer Martin Hannett singlehandedly created this dark, haunting early JD sound, at Strawberry studios Stockport.

Tony Wilson took the master tapes of Unknown Pleasures .. and ripped Hannett right royalty off in the massive sales re-release years that followed.

Its invariably the real creatives that get the rough end of the stick in life.

  • Like Black Sabbath, Joy Division were the masters of misery. Gods.

  • New dawn fades on low noose around the neck and off we jolly well pop

  • i Feel good listening to joy division because they reasures me that imn ot alone. atleast me and ian relate and agree on similar things

  • @pupilateddials25 Awesome comment, I love Ian Curtis...

  • ok this song is more about hope than anything else - if you really listen to the lyrics and try to view it as a short description of what it takes for a relationship to work - in my opinion the fight is a catharsis for him to introspect and realize he must change -because no matter what he does or how much he sacrifices, he will not connect.

It was me, waiting for me,

    Hoping for something more,

    Me, seeing me this time,

    Hoping for something else.

  • @willronin Talking about hope in the past is the purest form of absolute hopelessness.

  • its the first time thati ever hear this and i must say that i am impressed with the sadness that overcame me.

    A.O.Satanas.

  • Fantastic. Simply just so, so fantastic!

  • When ever I hear those fucks in U2, I think of this song. They basically ripped everything from Joy Division.

  • As soon as I've turned on this song my cat made his first meow since 2 years.

  • @mangokiwibanana Hehe, cats have great taste in music.

  • @MowgliX indeed

  • Comment removed

  • @MowgliX I guess my cat rather likes the sound :D

  • was my favourite in 1982 when i first truely appreciated the song and have not changed my mind since

  • Freaking love that song. Quite a haunting quality.

  • My Joy Division song collection felt something was missing..then I came across this vid. Glad!! very very Glad I found this again!!!

  • this is the best ever made

  • There was never a band with such emotion and power than Joy Division.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Ian Curtis is the only one who's lyrics stand higher than Dylan's.

  • Hello guys. I'm RockN8N.

This is my new channel with my own song on it.

    Enjoy

This is not a pathetic lie or something, I'm really the same guy as RockN8N. You can check the profiles if you don't believe it.

  • This song matches perfectly with the ''Heat'' car-chase scene!!!

  • @nemecis123 It would say that it matches perfectly with every movie scene ever made since it makes every movie scene simply better..

  • at uni i listened to this everyday for almost a year, probably didnt do my mental health any good, but its that brilliant

  • Comment removed

  • Last time he did this...............

  • timeless.. woulda been cool being in my early 20's in the 70's in manchester.. :(

  • Nothing really ever changes.

  • A classic piece of avant-rock art. It is a perfect distillation of sounds and feelings which came before it. To hear the genesis of this 'sound', find and listen to these two bands/tracks...

    — "Can - (1969) Monster Movie - 02. Mary, Mary"

    — "Iggy Pop and the Stooges - (1973) Raw Power - 02. Gimme Danger"

(Especially pay attention at time "00:01:45"... of "Gimme Danger")

  • why is it i feel this song for thirty years? it's just what i feel all the time!

  • @butobuto1 Same here, all of it. New Order were marvelous but this..Autosuggestion on the old VHS...

  • why is the guitar out of tune?

  • @LoKimLinProject

Could be just the intonation saddles on the bridge needed setting, which needs to be done very so often, otherwise some notes sound slightly out of tune on some parts of the neck. Sounds fine to me though. Maybe I'm tone death.

  • @LoKimLinProject They all played there instruments 'incorrectly' thats joy division :)

  • @potchoker Then why am I trying to imitate Mr Curtis?!

  • Comment removed

  • Not heard this before - it is good

  • bass

  • Who dislike this brilliant song doesnt feel feelings in music and has no heart.......

  • for this year is cool

  • i dont like a control a little bit, cause there are not this song. masterpiece

  • "Playing at The Musician, Leicester on 20 Aug 2011"... erm.... I don't think so somehow.

  • heat:)

  • Damn it, always believed that Song was in fact a Moby song - anyway, his version ain't bad either. Super cool is the scene in Michael Manns "Heat" when Pacino meets De Niro the song was background soundtrack....

  • @Dilbert0123

    agree!

  • oh du süßer schmerz ,ich liebe dich, yes!!!!

  • Look into Ian's eyes while listening to this. It's very haunting.

  • I <3 Ian Curtis

  • In my opinion the best vocal performance in any song in history.

You can almost touch the pain.

  • WATCH HEAT,

  • it´s really fucking good...yeahhh,awebo,,,joy division....

  • peter hook best bassist ever

  • @tomfleet94 if you saw him live, you'd change your mind. He's actually a lazy old prick.

  • john frusciante brought me to this, i love it

  • Ian Curtis, a canidate for Canonisation if ever there was one !

  • peter hook needs a good flogging.

  • Hauntingly beautiful !

  • tripping while listening to this shit is so the man

  • i fucking love this band...punk, mild-progressive, poetry, boundless Rock N" Roll energy a Bowie style seduction...i just can help but let my jaw drop.

  • There are 2 kinds of days. The days where I wake up and I want to listen to the world. And the days where I wake up and I want to listen to New Dawn Fades.

  • @maheshcasiraghi You've got problems.

  • Martin Hannett. (RIP) Thank you too

  • One of the most beautiful and poignant songs ever.

  • respect to whoever put this here.

  • favorite song by jd

  • This is my favourite Joy Division song. They were awesome. I wish more bands sounded real like this.

  • 10 people are in control.

  • 9 PEOPLE SUCK

  • @bakerbrdz fuck you sucker hahahahah

  • AGREED TIMES THREE

  • I don't know how anyone can dislike this song. It is such a great classic. If it wasn't for songs like this you would have no Killers. Younger generation sadly doesn't respect that.

  • best song ever.

  • i thought this was a moby song, lol

  • ÖÖÖÖÖ

    Curtis For The Win

    Curtis For President

    Curtis For King

Curtis For God, Cause he is!!!

  • @BestRockMusics bit hard since he died like 30 years ago

  • @sexfreak77 to a god with this musical sound and music is nothing more

not for power with God through music because without god

no joy division deues aunt left over and im so detudo

  • @sexfreak77 This comment is slightly frightening.....did you rape her?

  • @sexfreak77 you probably shouldn't admit to crimes on public comments...

  • This is not complex music, easy to play on guitar and what not.. but the sound, the atmosphere.. the taste you lick with your ears is unmatched

  • Oh God... Joy Division was the greatest band of that era, definitely. And this song reached deep into the subconscious, or rather, the heart of a person's soul. INCREDIBLE!

  • love this song!

  • Majestic - Ian Curtis at his finest, RIP

  • what a legend leaving us with this

  • ...speechless.

  • Hands down, best Joy Division song.

  • Thanks for upping a great tune!

  • In my opinion, the best Joy Division song.

  • @wctwdaniel6 i agree. so emotional

  • @wctwdaniel6 agreed

  • @wctwdaniel6 it's mine too!!!

  • @wctwdaniel6 agreed, but i swear the more I listen to it the darker it becomes, quite scary really! been a huge fan for years, think the music is sinking deeper and deeper now

  • @wctwdaniel6 agreed!! :D

  • @wctwdaniel6 Just the best song ever.

  • @wctwdaniel6 in my oponion the best Joy Division song and one of the best songs ever.

  • A pioneer that reached out to the lost in a very individual way.

  • this song reminds me of a stooges song called dirt

  • @wipers86 that and this are both great songs!

  • @EilidhlovesA7X yeah i love both songs to i was just pointing out the resemblance

  • Ian curtis died exactly 15 years to the day before i was born, R.I.P a true musician, the likes of which unfortunately don't exist today.

  • Joy Division rocks. My first song I heard from them was Love Will Tear Us Apart, but I went ahead and was listening other songs by them and they were a very talented group. Ian Curtis was a really good songwriter and singer. This song and many other songs by them are my favorites.

  • bon

  • "unknow pleasures"; One of the greatest album ever..... Amen.

  • et je les vu il y a à peu près 30 ans !!!

  • he looks like a friend of mine

  • the definition of Ian Curtis music is our feelings!

  • @piticiu I agree.

  • No regrets.

  • @freedom232x lol, how can you say that?

  • @freedom232x HAHAHA;...... still "creepy" you really think so :-(

  • @freedom232x No way ,version original is epic, the Ian voices to, He sings with feeling ,the guitar and bass sound are great and insane ,so it that I like moby also

  • @freedom232x In some countries, your opinion would be a definite hanging offense.

  • 23 yars of age, sure - not even 27 when he died.Mmm. Still, Birmingham and The Beatles legacy gave him a mission in life even Tarot cards perhaps could not ... and then there was New Order.

  • DEEP

  • Ian Curtis♥

  • I know this song plays in the credits of some movie. I've tried to find it.. Interesting how I have randomly come upon it now..

  • @besosparaKORITA Its in the movie What we do is secret.A film about the germs singer darby crash.

  • his eyes are magical.
