  • this guy is a GENIUS

btw, anyone knows if the strings oh his guitar are nylon or steel?

    THANKS

  • and there are still people who say classic music is boring

i´m a real fan of rock and metal even deathcore and so on but i´m really fascinated of this guy

  • Yeah, I need to practice. The end.

  • Herman Li is WAAY better

Broderick can't emulate the Pac-man sound, can he?

  • @NixxerJixxerWixxer Uhh. Please be sarcasm.

  • finally a metal guitarist who can play classical guitar with finger picking.

    Wow. 10 of 10 points.

  • Damn, massive vein popping out on his right hand O_o.

  • Comment removed

  • So beautiful and so Bach. I have always found Back difficult to play myself.

  • i love how hes playing the bass notes or accompanyment while hes playing the melody he very skilled something i wish to learn one day to widen may guitar playing..well i kno this in a basic form but not in a technical form

  • God I love this song, and I love it even more from this guy. It makes me mad thats he's so good at everything though! lol

  • i think people got something wrong. he's not a metal head that plays classic music, he's a classical player that plays metal. think bout it a bit.

  • Wow, he's so amazing!

  • TechnoGospel go fuck yourself. and lets see your band play better then megadeth if you have a band.

  • was and still is

  • @tylerheusner1 seriously??

  • He's definitely using nails in his playing, it would be much harsher if he weren't using nails. Judging from the classical guitar he's using it's not exactly a concert level model by any means so the quality of tone he produces is of course compromised.

  • @XianXiuHong lol so you're saying a millionaire professional guitarist would be playing a shitty instrument? lol

  • No, I'm saying that that particular instrument isn't exactly a concert level instrument.

  • @r1chie311music i seriously doubt he's anything close to a millionaire, most musicians even well known professional ones just barley make a living.

  • Incredible. He can play from Bach to Nevermore (wich is a LOT more technical than Megadeth...)

  • whoa...

  • Can anyone find me a tab for this....i cant find one anywhere.

  • google classtab and look for bwv 997

  • get the score

  • I've never seen this side of him-- this is so cool!!!!

  • breathtaking...

  • Wish he would make a classical album.

  • @jolly73 for sure

  • beast!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'll learn classical guitar, much, much later in life

  • can you play it

  • What an exceptional guitarist. From Bach to Megadeth, he kicks ass.

  • he has so much class...so into his playing..

    i love it

  • Well, that's how to play a guitar. Very good, very good.

  • why are these named this double 3 caprice no7 op 20?

  • Because when I downloaded the video that was the title to the video , I'll fix it.

  • @abominae1 and @syndicatedmetalhead . . . they're named that way for a reason though, like the double BWV 997 J.S Bach, they're the names that the composers gave the song. why are they named in such a way???

  • aqui es donde se ven los verdaderos guitarristas exelenteeee !!!!!

me gutaria ver hacer esto al hernan li (dragonforce) haber si puede hacer esto sin sus distorciones XDDD "creo que no podria"

  • wow chris is a really great guitar player can't wait to hear what the next megadeth cd will sound like and plus hes going to be useing engl amps too!!!!

  • Yeah, that is super cool that he can play classical like that. It sounds fantastic. What a great player. He can flatpick with the best shredders and fingerpick with the best classical players. I'm glad to see metal/shredder guys shutting these classical and jazz snobs up by stepping up to the plate and showing off what I always knew they could do and what classical/jazz players (evidently) were too blind to see. Or, should I say, too deaf to hear.

  • well written boss

  • Thanks. Yeah, I love classical music (and some jazz), but I don't think those players should look down on other forms of music. There's real art and technicality in a bunch of other styles (except for rap, of course) I apologize if anyone on this forum likes rap/hip-hop. The producers are good. lol

  • Rap is for the most part talentless. There are some rappers who are mildly talented but they cannot match the brilliance of someone like Chris IMO.

  • You are correct. : ) It's not even a matter of opinion. lol Rap simply doesn't require this much skill or dedication. Which...is one reason it's popular. It's entertainment for the masses. : )

  • or because anyone that can talk can "rap" i guess is the term

  • True that. : )

  • Your misjudging a whole genre because you don't listen to it. The majority of mainstream anything doesn't require much skill or dedication. This goes for rap, country, metal, rock n roll, blues or whatever. You have to SEARCH for true talent in any genre. 90% of anything on MTV, the radio or media outlets is garbage...this goes for all genres.

Check out The Gift of Gab, Jurassic 5, Saul Williams or Lupe Fiasco. Those guys are true rap talents and have musicality equal to any other genre.

  • Sorry...we'll just agree to disagree. : )

  • Well just let me know one thing then, is ignorance really bliss?

Being close-minded towards any genre of music will only have negative effects on anyone truly aspiring to be a good musician.

  • So by that rationale...I should like everything regardless of how poorly, or well it's done? Just because it's someone's self expression, doesn't mean it's good art.

There's no close-mindedness going on here. Rap has been acknowledged, noted and discarded by myself and many other musicians. It had it's chance. And, although it doesn't apply to me in this case...yes, ignorance is bliss. : )

  • You don't have to like it AT ALL. You just can go around saying things such as "There's real art and technicality in a bunch of other styles (except for rap, of course)" when that simply is not a fact. It is 100% a FACT that there is technicality in rap and very technically sound rappers. The same goes for art. Just because you may not see it as a valid art form, that does not negate the millions who to see it as so. Don't have to like or enjoy it to acknowledge it has artistic talent and merit.

  • I said there was art in the production because the production on a lot of rap tunes is very good. However, I'll use your line back on you. Just because there are million of people who see it as a valid art form, doesn't mean they are correct. : ) Also, it certainly doesn't demand the same caliber of skills that real musicians have to master. Keep in mind I'm considering art and music to be one in the same because good music is an art. : )

  • There is good music and art in every genre. There are extremely talented musicians and artists in every genre. It may just be over some peoples heads to recognize talents in music that they do not understand or enjoy. There are some actually rappers, not just producers, that are extremely talented. I used to think like you but that was when I was 13 and so close minded that I only listened to two or three genres of music. Listen to the Gift of Gab and you'll hear a true talent of the rap world.

  • again...we'll just have to agree to disagree because it doesn't sound like I'm going to convince you otherwise (not that I was trying), and you're certainly not going to convince me. : )

  • I only can't convince you because you're too close-minded to actually listen.

  • Once again, there's no close-mindedness on my part. Rap has been around for around 30 years, or more in the mainstream. I've definitely given it a fair shot. Sounds like you're the one being close minded. : )

  • I don't understand what you are arguing about. I completely agree with the premise of prosperone's posts. And the fact that you haven't agreed with that premise just shows that you are trying to maintain some sort of e-pride because nobody wants to admit they're wrong on the internet. Sad, but what about this actual video?

Chris Broderick just shows you how he's such a varied individual and shows you this fantastic rendition of this classic. Very versatile guitarist.

  • What the hell are you talking about? lol

  • you all talked like proffessors in my mind 'till this post came up

  • @abominae1 instead of hating other styles of music...try to see something that can influence you. for example..im not a big fan of rap..but it's a very rhythmic music and their rhythms are very infectious. so from Rap and Pop music nowadays (the Lady GAGAs and Katy Perry's of the world) i listen to the rhythmic aspect though Lady Gaga has some amazing vocal melodies. if you dislike..it's cool...but I do try to be open minded about things

  • @Adrain30 I disagree with your mischaracterization concerning my position on other genres of music. I do not “hate” rap music. The point I was conveying in my previous post was about the superior craftsmanship of Chris Broderick, as opposed to the majority of rap musicians

  • @abominae1 Completely understand and completely agree

  • @yngvaigilbsteen Weheheeell, I hate rap and hip hop, but there are artists who are talented. They may not be singing or playing instruments but "talking" quickly over a rhythm is also not easy and some rappers build in crazy timings that still make sense. It may not be my music but some rappers still have talent! (not the women-raping ones though), of couse this may not match to a musical genius like Chris Broderick here.. or his buddy Jeff L.

  • @yngvaigilbsteen I hope you don't mean ALL people who listen to classical and jazz. I listen to both and have the upmost respect Chris

  • @fenderbender92 for Chris**

  • @yngvaigilbsteen I'd honestly say about half the people that play metal ( over the age of 20 that is ) start with metal and end up playing classical cause in the end, metal is classical music sped up with some heavy drums and guitar, which also is beautiful if you can understand it. I started with metal and ended up with classical/jazz, nowhere else to go :)

  • @mozarthendrix Agreed. : )

  • @yngvaigilbsteen most of the great metal guitarists have some sort of jazz or classical background

  • Briliant!! Not only is this guy a wicked metal player, he's also a wicked classical musican who just played an ARCT conservatory piece flawlessly!

  • he's classically trained probally

  • I hope you Chris spot these comments. I really enjoyed this, like all your acoustic and heavy stuff. One can truly see real talent, passion and work + love you put to your play.

  • Does anyone know the song?

  • Muy excellente..Bravo

  • awesome....awesome.....did i mention tht this is awesome

  • Definitely one of my favorites. Good luck in Megadeth man, Marty was amazing, now show him up!

  • That was great. Man, Chris is a versatile player. The rest of you ought to take note.

  • agreed 100% man
