  • and like this, martin scorsese creates modern cinema.

  • ..RAIDER NATION! ..NYC as bad as cali lol

  • Comment removed

  • 0:37 to 0:40--Travis predicts the coming of Rudy Giuliani.

'Course...Bloomberg let NYC go to rot, again. *sigh*

  • Travis sounds like a "Film Noir" hard-boiled private eye in this sequence, with his snarky, dark, dramatic narration....

  • 70's NY = Las Vegas

  • @fede018 NY (since 1945 to today)= Las vegas

  • @fede018 NY is capitalist, and racist city in the word. TODAY.

  • @supredoctorhouse78 that does not make any sense, please take more english lessons

  • @999basille I dont like the english. USA is imperialist.

  • The animals like you, walk on the streets everyday, and should be tied for ure ignorance. Ridiculous.

  • @luksgiovanni you know its a film, don't you?

  • Vergonha alheia essa cena.

  • the film Is the abomination

  • NYC is full of scum. We need someone like Travis Bickle to clean up that shit-hole of city.

  • @Punk93Metal

I went to NYC the other day during night time there are so many homeless people and prostitutes.

  • reminds me of del playa at UCSB :)

  • Two people are whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies. Not to mention animals.

  • Yup, the niggers, spics, fags, jews and all the other nonhumans needs to get washed off the street, right into the ocean.

  • @Stigmableedingblack

    you forgot to say "Gooks"

  • New York is the most over rated filthy faggot filled city in the world.

  • i like those camera shots it's like youre there!

  • thumbs up for travis and the rain that will wash all the scum off the streets.

  • WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with all the commentors on this video? People, Travis is NOT right, this scene shows his hatred for NYC and his mental instability, are you unaware that he is talking about killing these people? Travis isn't a good guy, for fucks sake he was going to kill a presidential candidate because a girl he liked got offended when he took her to a porn theater.

  • @lousysmarchweather12 Thank you. So many people miss the point of the film. Yes, you're supposed to feel sympathy for Travis and understand his views on the city and its inhabitants, but you aren't supposed to be rooting for him and cheering him on when he goes on his killing spree and you when you begin to see that he is PSYCHOTIC. He's an unstable person who's got the right ideas, but not the right way to handle them.

  • @lousysmarchweather12 Very true, except I don't believe that he is COMPLETELY wrong in the entirety of them movie. Like, the basis for a societal argument is there, it's just that Travis' view is skewed by his eccentricity or, though I hate to use this word, craziness.

  • @lousysmarchweather12 He's not a good guy but he's not the villain either. He's an anti-hero. Yeah, obviously he's a psycho, a porn addict, and a killer, but his quest to get a girl out of the world of prostitution was actually pretty admirable. Also, at this point in the movie, he wasn't about to kill anyone. He gradually was driven into insanity as the movie progressed, and then he killed all those people. Anways, what he says here is completely true. All the animals do come out at night

  • @lousysmarchweather12 Yeah but at the end of the movie Travis decides to take his anger and insanity and turn it toward that piece-of-shit pimp, his goon and the john in the whorehouse so he can free the preteen prostitute. He saved the girl, thus making him a good guy.

  • @holsterboy166 wrong. the whole point of the final scene when he looks at the unseen object in the rearview mirror is that he can snap again at any time, and who knows what he'll do next? he clearly not a good guy. just listen to what he's saying in the clip, he's racist, homphobic, violent, and seems incapable of empathy. None of these things are traits of a hero.

  • @lousysmarchweather12 He never "snapped" to begin with.He planned the whorehouse massacre/freeing of Iris[who he has empathy for].The unseen object in the mirror is Betsy and it's wide open for interpretation what he is thinking as he drives off.

  • Bent politicians, rioting chav-trash, corrupt corporations, bankers, self-serving Tories and soft-arse neo-liberals.

Where's Travis when you need him?

  • It's absolutely 100% true, all the animals do come out at night.

  • They mostly come at night. Mostly...

  • 35 years have passed and the animals still come out at night. God bless you Travis.

  • Travis - man with a mission. One of my inspirations...

  • @IVomitOnYourGod are you a fucking psycho? thats like me saying, you know who i like... hitler, oh and stalin...that texas chainsaw massacre guy, hes really inspirational aswell, oh and not forgetting that austrian peadophile...

  • @MistaMase102 Don't cry.

  • @IVomitOnYourGod

    ur weird

  • @MistaMase102 Leave Hitler alone, rest you can bash.

  • could this have been the insperation for watchmen?

  • If you work grave yard shifts; this is like a manifesto.

  • @technologic21 Agreed!

  • "Skunk pussies"?HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • The irony is that this is coming from the mouth of a pill-popping gun nut with a death wish. A lot of people miss out on the fact that Travis isn't too far removed from the very "scum" he despises.

  • @TheBFD9000 That's the beauty of so many movies of the 70s where things weren't so cookie cutter. There was ambiguity and there wasn't the white hats and the black hats. Travis Bickle is an enigma. And it cuts in layers throughout the movie insofar as who's right and who's wrong. The end leaves us with Travis as a hero in the press and in his own mind of course he did exactly what was right.

  • @TheBFD9000 Guess you're not from NYC....

  • Some people won't even take Casper? Poor kid. :(

  • All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. I go all over. I take people to the Bronx, Brooklyn, I take 'em to Harlem. I don't care. Don't make no difference to me. It does to some. Some won't even take spooks. Don't make no difference to me..

  • Christovercame I live outside the city not in the ghetto

  • this is what happens when you have no regulation on personal and moral behavior in your society. Liberalism, secularism, humanism is just masked satanism. When people are free to act as they please, and there are very few limits on human behavior, society crumbles. Then you have 14 year old girls like Iris selling herself. Luckily, there are heroes, like Travis. I am from Canada, and go to any major Canadian city on a Fri, Sat night you will see the same debauchery.

  • @paperdesk actually, the most degenerative factor in all societies is poverty. it isn't liberalism, secularism, humanism or satanism. the poorer you are, the more difficult it is to be civilized. find out why people are poor in any society, and you'll find the devil you're looking for in your zealous fantasies.

  • @NotNamedJones I believe it's the other way around. In modern societies are mostly corrupted by money and the material life style.

  • @NotNamedJones I believe it's the other way around. In modern societies are mostly corrupted by money and the material life style. The more money, the less spiritualism.

  • De Niro sounds like he's relating a biblical story of a great flood type rain (like of Noah's ark story) to wash away Sodom Gomorra, which has now moved to New York City !

  • Your mother should have had a abortion you dumb ass

  • @neil7025 you are part of the scum Robert Deniro was talking about...

the rain will come and wash all the scum neil7025 off the streets

  • Cant get enough of this scene, so iconic.

  • Welcome to "The Big Apple" !

It's the same in all metropolis cities !

This classic film clip is awesome !

Thankx 4 posting it on YouTube !

  • I miss the old Times Square.

  • My dad was a NYC taxi driver never would pick up a jiggaboo and if one got in he would slide the partition close . Same things applied for puerto ricans and domicans

  • @neil7025 And you are proud that your Father was a racist piece of excrement because?

  • Burzaco de noche, que asco es este barrio de mierda.

  • I don't take spooks in my cab

  • don't make no difference to me

  • THE MUSIC, WOW

  • A classic, nonetheless, this scene fits perfect into many current American cities.

  • @FoocheelehTheGreat ---except it is far worse now. though NYC isnt as bad.

  • old ny city. it aint what it use to be. i miss those days. Travis Bickle is my hero.

  • nothing beats the old Times Sqaure 42street...NOW ITS DISNEYLAND

  • for those who like this scene search travis bickle prank

  • I wonder if Travis thinks of himself deep down as one of the animals who comes out at night.

  • I sometimes like to get a Travis Bickle style monologue running in my head when I drive through a shifty part of the city.

  • This movie just can't be "old fashioned". It will always be actual. Can be seen in so much ways, happy or sad. That's the masterpieces's signature.

    seen it 36 times! lol

  • @TravisBickle92 seen it 36 times? Lol. You must know every word - line for line.

  • A big Clash fan apparently. You can see reflections of The Clash music in most of his films.

  • @Spraycando other way around

  • Skunk pussy's?

  • Sounds nasty doesnt it??? Just say it, lol. "Skunk pussy".

  • skunk pussy rules ! ! !

  • When was this movie made? Late 70s? A rough time for New York City.

    I was there '85-91

It was even worse at the end with the crack plague.

When you are in it long enough, you do long for a real rain (Noah's flood) to wash all the (human) filth away.

  • 1976

  • Look at Bernhard Goetz. We perpetuate the problems of the streets when we let organizations like the NAACP come in, after a man has been found not guilty of all charges for shooting a group of muggers who attacked him, and sue him for damages caused to the criminals.

One day, a Rain will wash all the scum from Washington.

  • @itsareligionofpeace I agree, I currently live in New York and feel the same way as Travis in a lot of ways. The city has been cleaned up a lot by police, but some things will never change. The runaways in union square, the whores in hunts point, the junkies in thompkins square. They're all there and serve as a sick reminder of what humanity really is behind the glossy facade of progress.

  • Freaks come out at night.....

  • I am Travis Bickle.

  • WOW ! This is exactly how I feel when I drive through Los Angeles.

  • @DIJV79 you must be driving east on Sunset Blvd after 10p Friday and Saturday

  • gives me chills everytime

  • These lines appear in the soundtrack, though "whores, skunk pussies" is removed.

  • Pink Floyd Breathe TAXI DRIVER MUSIC VIDEO

  • We should just nuke this world.

  • Agreed.

  • @verecettislugger

there are also beautiful things on this world.

saying things like "we should just nuke this world" isn't a constructive attitude.

but i can comprehend this feeling of bitterness, weltschmerz and hate and misanthropy.

  • yes.

  • ""we should just nuke this world" isn't a constructive attitude" I needed that thank you

  • it's true, they all come out at night. "Sick, venal." "Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets." Hope that's true, I really do. Society is worsening as days pass, my friend Travis.

  • was he republican?

  • do you have an inner faggot?

don't answer I can already smell it on you.

    : )

  • that's cuz you are gay

  • wank.

  • pretty much sums up my hopes and dreams.....

  • "Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets"... Amen, Travis. u.u

  • @Cuackers Well look at New York now today, maybe that rain did come after all!

  • @Cuackers lets hope for combine metro police............

  • Story of my life...

"All the animals come out at night..."

  • film as art.

  • The best dialogue ever written.

  • This is a monologue.
