I have to say i took my own preconceptions about her when i saw this film. But given the incredible ensemble, with no 1 actor really taking the lime light.

And given the reports that she turned up late to shooting everyday, and the alleged talk that Robert Altman had with her about how this is unacceptable, and if this carries on she will be off the film.

I have to say that if she makes the right decisions, both in life, and film choices i think she could be quite surprising.

The technical imperfection of her vocals on "Frankie and Johnny" only makes the performance more cute and charming. "Better" singing wouldn't have made it any better.

But much of the effect would be lost without the visual aspect. It's so much fun to watch her sing it.

She is quite tallented for sure. She has been professionally performing since she was 4, so persional issues are not a surprise, no childhood with success so young. She is an actress, not a country singer, her tallent allows her to delve into that syle, and do it well. Part here is acting. I was looking for "Red River Valley" which was very short. There many very high quality performers on stage! I have to say, I still prefer Garrison Keillor's radio show though. But this is good.
