this f-15 pilot was in a vertical climb you have to face with g-force the f-15 is removed by the f-22 raptor but the f-15 strike eagle is still in service to fly over the no fly areas over iraq.Great take off greetings from Piet Holland.
@eggroll9000 You're only hearing the audio from the intercom system. In the jet, it's louder (not uncomfortably loud, but there is white noise from the wind and engines).
Actually my little troll, you CAN get an incentive ride in an F-15E. Also, the F-15E has one pilot and one WSO (weapons system officer), not two pilots. Granted the F-15E does have flight controls in the rear cockpit. If you're trying to see if someone is bsing you about getting an incentive ride though. Just ask where they did it because F-15 bases are becoming fewer and farther between. You were correct about the D model being used for training. GJ.
No fucking way....there is no fucking way that there is a cooler job here on earth, And goddamnit it pisses me off that I didn't set this as a goal in high school. I'm fucking jealous.....there, I feel a bit better.
It's a great job but believe it or not, not everyone can fly in a jet like the F-15. I myself would like to fly in a aircraft like the C-130 or a C-17. You'll have more chances flying in those aircraft then fighter jets.
A pair of Eagles were at my airport in Mobile where I keep my plane. I taxied out behind them, which was way cool in itself. The tower told them to climb to 10,000 and turn left. I was on a parallel taxiway, The first pilot looked at me gave me a thumbs up and then over the radio a request was made. Mobile tower, permission to climb to Angels 30 and depart South. We were going to be taking off to the North. It was granted.
@billparadise1 You don't "ride" in F-15E's, it was probably an F-15D. the E model is for two pilots, the D model is used for training/incentive rides.
amazing how it seems like he peacefully floats of the earth, while in reality hes probably going hundreds of miles per hour and the engines are screaming.
probably at least 8 or 9 g's but the pilots makes it look easy
I love watching you guys take off from work. I work directly across the river from the end of the runway(the buildings to the right of your head at 1:07.) It's the most entertaining part of my day LOL. I never thought that would be a 15,000ft climb. It's so quick in person. Lots of respect for you guys, and i'll be seeing you tomorrow hahaha!
Ok for those of you who don't understand aviation are who is not in it please let me explain. There are 2 different type of climb's and aircraft can do 1 is called Vx and the other is Vy. the SU-27 has a better Vy speed or best rate of climb over a distance the F-15 has a better Vx climb or angle of climb or over a shorter distance. The higher the thrust 2 weight ratio the better the Vx. I'm not trying to pick a fight I just know form experience.
@250Bikes The 2 seat Eagles are ground attack variants called F-15E Strike Eagles. The fuselage of the F-15E has undergone extensive modification to carry heavy bomb loads.
In the United States military, The F-15 comes in 3 basic models. The F15-A, F-15-C, F15-E. only the F-15-E is a twin seat model.
The USAF also has trainers designated the F-15-B and F-15-D for the -A and -C models which are 2 seat designs.
Without knowing the tail number of the jet I could not identify the exact model. However since this is not an active duty squadron the jet is most likely an -B model.
@f15mech I'm from Portland and I have several friends in the guard. You are very right. We now have a squad of all C's and two D's in Portland. This would have definitely been a B model unless it was a visitor from Kingsley Field in southern Oregon, in which case it would have been an F-15D. At this time, we had F-15A's and F-15B's.
@allthatiswithinme Thanks for the confirmation...I can go one better and if your friends provide you the numbers on the tail...I can tell you if I touched it.
@f15mech I'm not sure they would be able to from that far back, and I don't remember any of the tail codes from then as I didn't have a digital at the time.
@nawitus Check your info the SU-27 has a thrust to weight ratio of 1.09 to 1. The F-15 has a thrust to weight ration of 1.12 to 1. The higher the ratio the faster it can climb. The SU-27 is an awesome aircraft but the only thing the SU-27 has going for it is the tail slide and the cobra. The F-15 can out turn and out climb the SU-27. Now the SU-37 is a better all around fighter. But it all boils down to pilot training. Operation red flag 15's had a higher kill ration than the SU30mki.
@dameion1975 F-15 rate of climb 254 m/s, Su-27 rate of climb 300 m/s. I'm not saying Su-27 is better (nor worse) overall, but it can outclimb F-15 for a fact.
That's friggen outstanding!! 25 secs to 15 angels (15,000ft)... I'd give my left arm, leg, eyetooth and nut to fly one of these Eagles. Well done pilot! You can actually hear his breathing, and the G-forces at climb, a li'l grunt.
Boeing needs to test a stripped bird with twin GE-132 and go for a world record. That could raise some eyebrows in Congress these days, among other places shopping.
@123456789mischief I'm not sure about the F-22, but at one point in time, the F-15 was the only airplane that could accelerate in a vertical climb. @beertruck77 97,000 feet? Tha' fuck? Dude, the F-15 has a service ceiling of 65,000 feet. There is no damn way an F-15 could "pull off the power" and coast to 103,000 feet. An F-15 can't even climb vertically to 97,000 feet. 100,000 feet and you're getting into U-2 and SR-71 altitude.
@123456789mischief Yes an F-15 can go 90 degrees vertical in a climb which was no longer allowed before the US Navy retired the F-14.
/Just pointing that out).
Look it is simple the F-14 was designed to intercept incoming attacks over a US Navy battle group escorting or protecting needed supplies in the middle of the ocean and hammer the enemy/strike aircraft as the enemy attacked it. It's mission was to protect the fleet. Which it did with honor.
@123456789mischief Sorry I missed your supersonic question. That said the answer is YES an F-15 can go into a straight vertical climb I think it can also go supersonic in a climb.
However when you look at a fighter supersonic would be the last question I would ask.
The F-14 on the other hand did not like that maneuver which is one reason the F-14 was retired.

its not cause of G's is just if you gotta go lol when your out on a mission what you gonna do crap your pants? stick your ass out the cockpit window and shit on some poor bastards below lol?/
alright D-bags. No self-respecting fighter pilot shits his pants under G. The fags who get rides in the back seat might, but that's a different story. This is the coolest shit anyone in the world has ever done, and when you do it every day... it NEVER gets old. There is nothing like doing the shit you dreamed about doing when you were 12 (other then your english teacher)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I do get sick of hearing these things. during verticle climb like this the sound on the ground is enough to rattle windows over most of north portland.
I'm pretty familiar w/ the F-104, its looks and performance are VERY impressive for a plane of it's time. I looked up the EE Lightning which I knew of somewhat.. but not much. I did my reading and I must say that it's fascinating. Thanks for mentioning those aircraft! Jane's published performance specs who the F-15 out climbs (rate/absolutely ceiling), out-ranges, out-speeds both these acft. :-)
an F104 went above 100,000 ft in 1959 doing a zoom climb and in 1984 flt lt mike hale intercepted a u2 at 88,000 ft, also doing a zoom climb during a NATO exercise, they were well known for their "thirst" but you'll never beat a lightning for going vertical

Why is Silent Eagle so pivotal to you? It's just a portion of an ever-upgrading fleet.

its not cause of G's is just if you gotta go lol when your out on a mission what you gonna do crap your pants? stick your ass out the cockpit window and shit on some poor bastards below lol?/
OlderG0ds 2 years ago
alright D-bags.

I do get sick of hearing these things. during verticle climb like this the sound on the ground is enough to rattle windows over most of north portland.

You picked the house to live in. I guarantee the Air Force was there way before your house was even built.

wowowowowow i love the F15
jthqrules 2 years ago
impressive, but there are plenty of planes from the 50's and 60's that could easily outclimb an f15
bigchiefmingingbolok 2 years ago
such as?
blackhawkce 2 years ago
F104, and more impressively the english electric lightning, look up the EE lightning, the figures are biblical
bigchiefmingingbolok 2 years ago
I'm pretty familiar w/ the F-104, its looks and performance are VERY impressive for a plane of it's time. I looked up the EE Lightning which I knew of somewhat.. but not much. I did my reading and I must say that it's fascinating. Thanks for mentioning those aircraft! Jane's published performance specs who the F-15 out climbs (rate/absolutely ceiling), out-ranges, out-speeds both these acft. :-)
blackhawkce 2 years ago
an F104 went above 100,000 ft in 1959 doing a zoom climb and in 1984 flt lt mike hale intercepted a u2 at 88,000 ft, also doing a zoom climb during a NATO exercise, they were well known for their "thirst" but you'll never beat a lightning for going vertical
bigchiefmingingbolok 2 years ago
I'm going to look into that, that's some pretty good trivia right there (the 1984 U2 intercept). What was it for? For show?
blackhawkce 2 years ago
some kind of NATO exercise, i think the U2 was over here on exercise at the time
