i have been wanting to go hog hunting but i refuse to pay to hunt something that is causing so many problems and all of the places have breed the hogs themselves and that is not hunting to me. i am wanting to know if there are any state owned plots of land that they allow you to hog hunt on or any land owners that want the hog thinned out if you can release any of this information please email me at jbertolino12@gmail.com
@jbertolino12 The Conservation Department asks that all hunters who encounter a feral hog in Missouri to shoot it on sight. Doing so will reduce the feral hog population and keep the spread of this destructive pest in check. For more details please go to mdc.mo.gov/hunting-trapping/regulations/feral-hog-regulations
I hunt in Vernon county and well go 20 miles south with buckshot in out shotguns and shoot pigs in the thickets... we kill 80 a night but they pop up like weeds
If you head shoot them .223 will work fine, i personally wouldnt try a body shot on one though. If that is the only gun you have you could probably do ok with some hand loaded rounds just make sure you use a bullet that can penetrate well enough before it expands. Commercial loads might work, but you also might wound it enough for it to run A LONG distance before dying.
I would love to help the Mo Dept. of Conservation out. The hogs aren't in my area but I haven't seen any lit. on where they can be found on public lands.
i wouldnt release them but after i went on my first opening morning public land hunt hunnewell lake i hope we get some up here so i have a hunting oppertunity mo doesent charge out of state people near enough and missourians pay the price its sad realy it was the worst hunitng in my life
I just watche the program "Dangerous Encounters" on A&E and wow!! Estimates of the feral population is staggering. I have said I wish we had that problem, just to be able to do more hunting, but when I see the lives they have effected, and the property they have destroyed, I'm not so sure anymore. But, I'd sure like to take a little pig shooting trip. Can we foreigners hunt with landowners permission as well.
Everyone thinks they are a good idea until they take over and you have nothing else to hunt. Misinformed people turn loose hogs to hunt and make a very very bad choice!!!
From what I've read and heard there is no limit on feral hogs in Missouri. There are only a few issues you need to pay attention to during deer and turkey seasons. Aside from that it's an open season, to kill on sight.

Feral hogs are in Iowa now too. Hunters are encouraged to shoot them on sight.
