People seem to ike bashing her for that, but I'm sure that they'd call her "senator" if she had been a man. According to news sources such as Yahoo, she had been calling the general by his title, and of course she is entitled to the same respect as any male senator (or any man, for that matter). I believe that denial of this right to equal respect indicates that de facto discrimination continues to be acceptable in this country where everyone should receive political, civil, and social equality.

I'm curious if this video might have been taken out of context. If the General had been referring to other male senators as "Senator" and then called Boxer "Ma'am," I can understand why she might have taken it the wrong way. I do believe that this is a regional thing though and not as big a deal as all the issues facing our country. Yes, she comes across as arrogant, but that's not really a reason not to vote for her.
