  • "Repose of Evelyn" If I'm not mistaken the lyric is referring to John Evelyn, an English writer. A smart and good man who loved to learn. He outlived everyone in his family and watched them all die. Traveled a lot, partially because he needed to leave his depressing house.

  • He held many jobs, worked for important people, and took an interest in trees. He liked science, experiments, and writing. He enjoyed helping people in hopes of making the world a better place. Before his death his priorities were to make sure his only alive son was set with a good job and house for his family. John even wrote a book of guidance for him.

  • Soon enough, his son died, just adding that much more despair to him. John died shortly after in his own home. I'm guessing the "repose" refers to dying at the perfect time. After living a long fulfilling life, John Evelyn had no more family or priorities and was old so he was ready to die. Seems like a pretty good time to die for me.

  • Page 43, THE INFERNO. By Dante Alighieri. Talks about the souls that live their life not for God or Satan, but receive the worst afterlife. Depressing and fictional, but does make great points. Don't worry Ville, you shouldn't worry about your after life, I'm pretty sure your all set. You create beautiful music and are a smart man. Everybody read the book, your welcome.

  • i would like this man to read me bedtime stories forever and ever and ever, until the end of the time! if i would have a single wish to make, this would be it.

  • There are a lot of people in the world who were able to figure out what it means, deary.

  • Evelyn McHale from page 43 in Life magazine.

This was her suicide note: “I don’t want anyone in or out of my family to see any part of me. Could you destroy my body by cremation? I beg of you and my family – don’t have any service for me or remembrance for me. My fiance asked me to marry him in June. I don’t think I would make a good wife for anybody. He is much better off without me. Tell my father, I have too many of my mother’s tendencies.”

  • @leahragdoll THANK YOU!!!

I was look looking for that document for about 20 minutes now! Why i didn't come here to scan the comments in the first place, I will never know.

    Still, thank you!

  • someone could subtitle this video please.........

  • the first time I heard this isng our history teacher had just told us the story of solomon but i had asked for the whole story because it fasinated me so she gave me a fourteen page packet and I took it home. i always listen to h.i.m. when i read and I searched up some songs that I hadnt hear so about half way through the packet this song came on and i just sat there gaping at the screen and then listened to the song for the rest of the month.

  • Imagine.. going to bed everynight and hearing that voice sing to u...whisper in your ear... UGH HIS VOICE IS SO DEEP and sexy. <3

  • subtitulado...... xfaaaa

  • His voice is awesome

  • i dunno where he got it, but i found it in an antiques store up in boone, nc. last copy too, so i got really lucky.

  • Book of the Law Book III 43.

  • @morojohn23 Can you tell me what's in that page 43 please?:)

  • @Lightray3

read my comment below, its not from book of law its from life magazine.

  • sorry, this and the one below are ment to be one comment. no. evelyn wrote a note to her husband shortly befire she jumped off the empire state building, sayingbshe wiuldnt make a good wife for anybody. so the line "turn to page 43 an you'll know how i feel" means he believes he wouldnt make a good partner or husband for anyone. not that he wants yo be thrown onto a car. :/

  • @necroscope101 yeah that makes sense. i had to think over the lyrics (after a calmed down from my obvious fit below xP ) and i understood it later on.

I'm sorry for speaking....well, typing, in an upset like that. I was looking for the meaning in this video and Ville leaving it a mystery was like a hit between the eyes! xD

In any case, this is actualy one of my favored songs on Screamworks. :)

...hmm, i wonder where he finds these documents. :/

  • @necroscope101 Thanks verry much mate...;)

  • @roses o willow

  • i have the magazine hes talkkng about. :)

  • I was one of the people who found page 43. It took a couple months though! hahaha

  • Leave it Ville to complicate things!! Where the fock did he get a hold of that magazine? It's from before he was born...WAY BEFORE!!!

So he feels like he was thrown onto the hood of a car? >:/

....ah whatever, still love his music.

  • the page 43 either comes from Kat Van Dee's book on page 43 or Magik in theory and practice which i'm having an impossible time finding an real copy of, the line from Kat's book is a quote i could easily imagine Vile saying or thinking

  • @waytogoluke Page 43 has already been confirmed to being of Life magazine, May 12th 1947. You can find a scan of the magazine on Google books.

  • OMG. 1:11 the way he says that, now I feel like if I can figure out WHICH page 43 he's talkin about, he'll give me that time of day and fall in love with me O.O do I EVER have a mission now! bahaha

also the whole "tear this baby apart" bit relevant to a relationship, as always; bloody brilliant. In every song he does something out of this world, poetic, and just GENIUS.

HIMNorway, thanks for posting these vids!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • @pittielove Gosh I laughed so hard while reading this :P

  • @ everyone who's made a relevant comment all your bits and pieces come together to Page 43 of the May 12th, 1947 issue of life magazine featuring a full page image of Evelyn McHale "punched into the top of a car" after committing suicide by jumping off the Empire State building, the caption stating that she "...calmly reposes..." so there's your repose of Evelyn and your page 43 good work and goodnight.

  • @Pockets916 Could be you are right, however there is a book by Anna Katharine Green entitled "The Sword of Damocles" about a musician who on page 43 talks about whether or this male musician should risk fame and fortune for the love of a girl. Could this be the page 43 he talks about in the song? I guess only Ville will ever know.

  • @dud9083 maybe because in the interview from the dvd in live in the orpheum theather he said a history about a musician in love with a girl in hell so he came down to hell and play for Satan the most beautiful melodies so the girl can be free and Satan said okay take her but never looked back and the musician look back well something like that maybe what you said it is true

  • @jereimy The story you speak of is from greek mythology about Orpheus and Eurydice, and the book I am referring to was written in the late 1800's. bn.com and google books have it for free if you wanna check it out.

  • @dud9083 aha! I think that's most relevant to Ville.. I'd always assumed it was a biblical reference, but that makes sense as well!

  • @NymphetamineVille

    Sounds Pretty Predictable

  • When I figured it out it made so much sense

  • Someone figured it out on Facebook............ something like Valos page 43, or Ville page 43 or whatever. But it explains why.

  • and when he says well tear this baby apart, wise lik solamon he is speaking of the story in wich two women argue over a baby as to wich one it belongs to. soloman, using his wiseness, said ok then well tear the baby in half and you can have half each knowing that the real mother would disagree where as the fake one would agree.

  • hes talking about figure 43 in the key of solamon. in Figure 43, the pentacle of venus- "Figure 43: The Fifth and Last Pentacle of Venus - When it is only showed unto any person soever, it inciteth and exciteth wonderfully unto love." hes basically saying that he has fallen in love with this person .

  • I wanna know which book...............turn to page 43 and you know how I feel

  • @heartkiller5 note: she'll be the witness to the repose of Evelyn.

Google this: "Life magazine Evelyn Mchale" Note the page number on the image.

  • @heartkiller5 i think we'll never know for sure ¬¬ c'mon ville

  • I had an inkling that the thing about 'Turn to page 43, and you'll know how I feel' meaning nobody will ever find what it is we're meant to look for, and therefore not know how he feels... thoughts?

  • I've been trying so hard to figure out what Ville meant by "Turn to page 43 and you'll know how I feel" ...Now I know it's from a book, magazine, or whatever. Now, the hard part, I just have to figure out what book he's talking about x)

  • ...maybe it is not a book, maybe it's an old magazine with a photo of Evelyn on page 43 ...

  • isnt that song made for the new alice in wonderland film

  • goshhh i adore this song.... the meaning is so deep, the way ville put these two things together: the history of cassandra, solomon and democlis and the relationship.. very powerful lyrics. not to talk about the music..i don't know, i must say i just love it, everything about it..just wonderful.......

  • The mention of Cassandra makes me think that the book he's speaking about is either the Iliad of the Aeneid

  • i see it and i think its cool how you would add that to your music its real and its good. and its funny the story of solomon because we talked about that in my youth grop the ather week its just rad keep it up tou rock and we should talk some time about the song and solomon.-john

  • Is the book, "The end of Mr. Y"????

  • he is sober... thats why

  • that's because he tries to get the basic meaning of each song in a few minutes,I think

  • He is still Ville :) and he isnt that SERIOUS!

you can check out his new interviews!

My number 1 idol and will allways be

  • so tell us man! what he's talking about!!??

  • okay i know about solomon was a king of israel and else but i didn't know anything about the fight... mmmh, about the sword of damacles i of course know about it but who's cassandra..??

  • Comment removed

  • @zaynazebra ooh thank you very much =) haha, now i think i have already read about cassandra.. so.. he has to choose between two.. and the girl she chooses cause he feels in love with will be the death of them, under pressure.. or something like that.. ?? haa, thanks anyway

  • thanks for uploading this, I love that song. But the sadness in Ville's eyes breaks my heart.
