Religions are getting too complicated. And I never got the idea behind justifying or forbidding something because of "some great funny big thing". Bill Donahue shouldn't have any credibility. He defended the church from molestation allegations by saying "They were post-pubescent" When asked what he means by that, and what age that is he said "I don't know, 12, 13." So I guess in his mind if you have sex with a 13 year old you're a fine human being.

Religions are getting too complicated. And I never got the idea behind justifying or forbidding something because of "some great funny big thing". As an atheist, I can make my decicions based on my own will, common sense or conscience. It's not that I disrespect religious people, it's part of human biology to be religious (please, PLEASE try to succesfully deny this!). What really gets to me is people so stupid that they need something or somebody to tell them their exact morales and what to do.

The Catholic Church threads the needle in a way that just can't please all of the people all of the time. They take up social justice issues and believe themselves to stand as an ideal community that could again serve as a model community against the current capitalist order. On the other hand, they are very hierarchical and are consistently pro-life (not death penalty, abortion, etc.) Which pleases conservatives. The question is, which side will become privileged in the Church.

Really, the "honor" they are so inflamed over is merely the university's respect for the President, which to me, would be seemingly "unamerican" if they didn't. Secondly, Notre Dame is a bloody college. Clearly, religion is not the focus of the faculty nor the student body. Thirdly, the university is not a church but merely an extension of its views. It's not blatantly opposing the church as everyone in this video is implying. Pure FAIL.
