  • Aww you're sweet but this english accent is sickening!!!

  • @hallobaaaby Hey, at least she doesn't sound like Fran Drescher. :X

  • @UpcomingJedi Aaargh not nazal Fran nooo :D:D:D Would prefer this girl's voice throughout my whole life than Fran's voice for one hour! :P

  • "this is what the oboe looks like" picture is actually an english horn :)

  • @gahlony42 lol no it isn't - i took the photo myself. it just looks a bit like one because it's on my stand :)

  • @xxjennifaxx ya it makes the bottom look fat so thats why i thought that haha

  • this is fucking boring

  • "Reed vibrates, not air... "

    ???

  • Oboes tune the orch due to overtones... 1 piece of cane cut in half... Not all have wire of the "plastic" that you mentioned... Reed vibrates, not air... Possible three octave keys... Don't move reed in and out for pitch, affects response... Changing reed position in mouth changes timbre and quality of sound... NEVER BITE! Some of it is good though...

  • i love the song at the end!! nad how they pronounce oboes. it's cute!!!

  • the oboe is not the instrument that sounds most like the human voice, the bassoon is.

  • I thought it was the english horn

  • For an example of the oboe sounds, you should have picked something that actually makes the oboe sounds good.

  • Umm when you say "this is what an oboe looks like" at umm 0:14 - that actually looks more like a cor anglais?

Is it just a mix up or does your oboe have a different bell? If so I have never seen an oboe with a bell like that before, let me know, I'm curious!

  • I agree. It looks almost as if she just stuck a reed into an oboe d'amore or english horn.

  • Not big enough to be an English Horn. I've just spent 3 months on one for an Orchestra.

  • It's on an oboe stand. That is not a bell and there is definitely not a bocal.

  • omg the oboe is my new love!! i've left the bass clarinet...anyways this is a good oboe presentation, but u should have played more rather than talk so much about it :)

  • I love the oboe. Its got a really unique and beautiful sound. Great presentaion

  • cool but why bother?

  • errr it was compulsory lol

  • I think its interesting.

  • i don't see why it couldn't be interesting

  • super boooring

  • it's not intended to be interesting

it's intended to get me a good mark

    which it did =]

  • im thinking of switching to the oboe from the clarinet. i dont know what to do so leave your comments on my site. pbsqueen

  • Hey what's up I play the oboe!! do you?? leave a message at my comments

  • that presentation was cool. I used to play oboe, but i switched to clarinet. Oboe still rocks though!

  • it an english horn but in the oboe fam.

    thats what i play

  • I am pretty sure at 00:15 that was a Cor Anglais, not an Oboe, an Oboe would be shorter

  • it's not a Cor Anglais, it's an Oboe D'amore

  • it is an oboe because it's mine lol

it looks a bit longer than it actually is though because it's on my stand

  • you sound like a teacher talking to us naughty children :)

    But liked the presentation.

  • Nifty presentation! Although it isn't wise to tune the oboe by pulling or pushing the reed in or out. The metal tube is actually an extension of the oboe's bore, and by altering that, you will tune the middle "A", but you will likely knock other pictures out of tune. It is best to use one's embouchure. This is all due to the instrument's conical bore.

  • Hehe hi Jenny it's Lydia from ur oboe lesson XD ...Yeh i researched ur oboe presentation =P 'Tis very gd lol: "How gd lookin that guy playin the oboe was!" Lol made me laugh =P

  • wow ur pretty good! I've been playing oboe for like month and I'm playing a level 4 piece-it's pretty hard!!! :-0

  • cello is the instrument most considered to be similar to the human voice, not the oboe.

  • Mmm...I'd look that up again if I were you.

  • ajajjajaa!!!! the best!!!

  • shut up i play the oboe and its awsome

  • the sound it's ugly...horrible!!

  • dont the sound in this prentations fool you, the oboe is fantastich.

  • you don't know the real sound of oboe....if you play in that way it's possible that you have to work the sound too much

  • You don't want to scare people away from the oboe with your presentation, do you?

First, you depict a cor anglais as an oboe.

Second, your sound and tune sucks.

Some positive credits for the nice try, though

  • oboes r so cool i play one 2!

  • I enjoyed your video. Please check out my video "A Lonely Moment Wakens" for English horn, harp and string orchestra

  • just 2 let u know, u cant double tounge on the oboe

  • you can, it's just proper difficult

  • omg that was a really good presentation! i thought it was quite helpful since i am just beginning to learn to play the oboe!

  • Awesome presentation! I love it.

I'm starting out the oboe soon and this really helps.

  • Love the accent!! Your oboe looks very unique! I'm assuming you're British, do you play on a Howarth?

  • For god sake, this is stomach churning. You should be shot. Most disrespectful,

  • Lol! Funny and wery educational video. Right... I didn't know about doble tounging .. I do now! =D...

  • dont break a reed!!!!!!!!!! they're expensive! unless you make yours.

  • lol it was cracked anyways

i wouldnt break a working one!

  • u know. alot of ppl look at oboes and its players cos its such a strange instrument...but the thing is, those of us that play it...its like we love it...ive played for about 5 yrs now.

  • Cool:D A presentation about the oboe:) I love that Instrument, I have played it for 4 years:) Good Presentation

  • Wow - you made a very nice presentation - i might just start to love the oboe now too!

  • aww thank you!!!

  • Pretty good, but I would have cut out the gay ending, srry.

  • Oh dear.... I trust you have permission from The Philharmonia Orchestra, as 70% of what you 'tried' to come out with was explained by Christopher Cowie on 'The Sound Exchange' Dont give up the day job love...

  • accually 4 parts. you need the reed to play.

  • hahahaha good 1!!!

  • lol i love your accent. its pretty. i am going to play oboe. i'm getting one on wednesday!

  • nerds!!!!!!!!

insterments are gay as hell except drums n guitar

  • Haha. Not true. I'm also willing to bet you can't even play them well, if you play them. Some people are daring enough to take them up. I say good on them :)

  • genius jenny!

  • well i think that it is a quality presentation. who is the cool guy in the picture at the beggining?

  • erhem, actually some of my keys aren't covered...

  • Depends what make of oboe you are playing... howarth student models are completely covered, adler have a complete open ring system, mine has an open ring low D and a covered F#. Don't make generalisations Ms. Anarchy

  • You can play higher than third octave G.. just had to mention that. At least to third A

  • Ha I was about to say that!

  • OBOE

    OBOE

    chanting

    oboe oboe

  • What make are you playing? Buffet? and what reeds?

  • Aahaahhahahahahaahhahaahhahahaha I love the end.

  • + (out of couriosity) is it possible to marinate the reads

  • a very good presentation

  • good presentation....i really learned some cool stuff about my oboe.must attempt double tounging...

  • Video quality is a little low. But for someone that is not in the music is good. More practice.

  • "But for someone that is not in the music is good"?

&&it had 2 b that low quality 2 fit on my memory stick lol

    &&i dont practice sooo

    =]
