  • Say what you like, but Tharoor has a fantastic voice!

  • the thalmor! oh.. tharoor

  • @07:23 Lmfao!! Hitch just lights up a cigarette, and takes a sip of whiskey! This man is an absolute legend!

I disagreed with him on many issues, but where are the people of his calibre? Who could fill his shoes? Most of us couldn't even ask to pay homage to his cobbler! This man had a first-rate mind, and the world is so much poorer for his absence.

  • i love u Hitchens

  • religion and authority. It takes enormous arrogance and selfishness to tell another person they have to respect your beliefs or else you will threaten or attack them. Even more repulsive if you enter a country that respects free speech. Religion offends me. I fully accept its right to exist, but anybod, or any specific group, who threatens criticism of religion should be be dealt with forcibly.

  • I find it amusing that Hitchens is likely far more intelligence than any of the people here insulting his intelligence.

  • @laudrup90 Hitchens does not claim that Jefferson was an atheist. He states the fact that Jefferson was a deist which anyone that has read any history is aware of. The Jefferson Bible does not include any metaphysical claims and also denies the divinity of Christ or the trinity. Stopping spouting b.s., and please refrain from commenting on topics you are shamefully ignorant of.

  • "I'm not addicted to alcohol. I'm addicted to class."

  • jeeeeeeeeez...nice to have an objective moderator....

    god.....liberal secularists just are unabashed..

and of course the mainstream accepts it........

  • if you shout fire in a crowded theater and some one freaks out because they did NOT bother to look around quickly and make sure the warning was real IS NOT YOUR FAULT!

its the fault of the person that did not bother to check the facts. a quick look around will tell you that if you dodnt smell smoke or see fire that that person is probably out of there minds and can be ignored.

take resposability for your actions/reactions and dont blame others!

so...sorry Tharoor, you are wrong , wrong, wrong!

  • the links to the petitions go no place.

  • @abakhsho Sure, Hitchens is brilliant but I think it's pretty clear that Tharoor is no intellectual midget.

  • Hitchens the intellectual midget, Shahsi stands miles above this closet racist and islamphobe. I just wonder if he supports speaking anti-Jewish statements, is that protected for him?

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJazzy1983 You clearly know nothing to very little about Christopher. Please keep your ignorance to yourself.

  • @abakhsho .Maybe so but hitchens is hardly that smart.A marxist who goes around claiming jeferson was an atheist is hardly someone who is honest or highly intelligent.

  • @laudrup90 idiot

  • It saddens me seeing Christopher choofing on his cigarettes - the very thing that has given him cancer and will kill him in a few months. Selfishly, I want 2+ more decades of Christopher's great wisdom.

  • @MrNaryal We're all dying.

  • Hitchens debates with anyone. It is a very admirable ethos.

  • Tharoor sounds like a saturday morning cartoon villan.

  • @abakhsho Do you even know who Tharoor is? hahah..If you even had a minute idea of what he's achieved you'll actually see that his positions and publications actually far outstrip even Hitchens. I am big fan of the Hitch but I'm not gonna hear of Tharoor spoken of in that way..lol..intellectual 'midget' indeed. There's nothing in this debate that even warrants that kind of comment so chill out.. And shame on all of you who gave it a thumbs up.

  • @editorflipsyde theroor just sounds like a big time pussy i rather have someone like hitchens protecting my country than a guy who just want to play nice.

  • @editorflipsyde tharoor is a psuedo-left loon currently at the payroll of the extremely corrupt congress government of India. Being a ex-under secretary doesnt necessarily accord him the high crown of intellect. His works r nothing but an eyewash n his entire persona is a farce. from someone hos been observing him from a very long time :)

  • @editorflipsyde Typical whining and whimpering from another supporter of another victim of Christopher. There isn't writer in his time that is superior to Hitch; whether is his extensive travels, that far supersede Shashi Tharoor, or his near-perfectly lettered books, which have out-sold Tharoor's...any way you slice it, Hitch gets the nod. Not to mention Tharoor worked for the woeful UN, which is beyond reform. If you don't want to be made to look a fool, don't act like one.

  • @MattSingh1 I didn't realise Youtube was a forum for random people to make other random people look foolish. Thanks for letting me know. If you'd actually read my original comment and in what context it was made, you might just have been able to come up with a relevant comment yourself.

  • @editorflipsyde

Tharoor is not an intellectual midget, to the contrary. The more shameful the intellectual dishonesty of his accommodationist and apologist stance regarding religion. And just what one would expect of a politician, who, if he wants to get and stay in power has to avoid offending voters - many of which are believers.

  • So, though I agree with Hitchens all in all, Hitchens needs to understand that there are underlying reasons which are very valid and perhaps better left unspoken for the position that Tharoor takes.

Namely Pakistan, and India's proximity to them. Last thing Tharoor can do is carry on about the barbarity of Islam, even if he believes it.

There are important nuances here that people miss when lambasting Tharoor.

  • @MattSmitty1980 What nuances has he missed? His message is very clear. If you don't like what someone's saying grow a thicker skin. I will never censor myself because i think it might upset some ppl and that they might result to violence. Srry there are no nuances here. One side is just wrong in this case.

  • @moh490234890238490--Umm, I named the most obvious one. That Tharoor is a prominent Indian intellectual and Muslims are very sensitive. And the ones in Pakistan have nuclear weapons. It's a big laugh that I have to paint this out for anyone.

It's not about a thicker skin, it's called something which could empower a real terrorist threat. See, here in Canada, I don't care about offending Muslims. They do not have a state next door and they don't have nukes.

    But India is very different.

  • @MattSmitty1980 You don't have the right to result to violence if you hear something you don't like its that simple. The victim should never be blamed.

  • Who said anything about blaming the victim? The issue is that Muslims DO resort to violence when they hear things they don't like all the time.

Is it right? No, it's batshit crazy!

    But, it IS reality.

If Tharoor ran his mouth against Islam, there is a very real possibility that pissed off Muslims will kill people in retaliation.

Understanding this isn't 'blaming the victims', it's avoiding making victims.

  • @MattSmitty1980 They're the ones that need to change not us. They need to understand that this is how a free society works and we'll fight to protect our rights and not cower away when some of them start throwing a tantrum.

  • The thing about Shashi Tharoor and Hitchens is that they come from different environments. Tharoor comes from an environment where it is very dangerous to indulge in the type of free speech Hitchens advocates and I believe in.

This is not so simple as 'Hitch is great, Tharoor is a moron.' In fact, if Hitchens cannot understand the reason that an Indian national might not want to publicly advocate insulting Islam, he needs to do some research about Pakistan, war, and nukes. cont...

  • @MattSmitty1980

India does not hate Islam. Few Indians are against muslims simply because more than 100 million muslims live in India and most of them are peaceful. The problem is not Islam but a certain set of ideology that has taken the mantle of Islam and is spreading hatred. Pakistan is a fertile ground for such ideologies due to its very existence. I am not sure people like Hitchins can make the fine distinction as they come from a different culture.

  • @2sridhark I beg your freaking pardon--------the problem is Islam ->the ideology you are talking about is Wahabism exported from Saudi Arabia.Religious intolerance and prosecution has been going on since the inception of Islam the only difference is they did not have bombs and guns then. The theology of Islam which includes the Quran ,sunnah and hadith have got all the fuel you just need to light a match.....

  • lol, look how un-bothered Hitchens is. Can't believe he's wasting his time with this! xD

  • Sometimes it can be difficult to seperate the strenth of the idea being put forward and quality of the oratory. As for midgets? I see none other than mankind itself a "Toddler" making his first tentative steps towards the open arms of understanding.

    xx

  • @abakhsho Wow. What happened to basic decency? Do you think Hitchens considers Tharoor an intellectual midget? Show some respect.

  • @F33bs troll. If you are going to call the person you dislike or disagree with an alcoholic, then you make yourself look stupid when you demand respect for your guy/gal

  • @nurbSoldier Maximum Trolling. I'm a Hitchens fan and I completely disagree with Tharoor here, and never said anything about anybody being an alcoholic. Now what's your excuse for jumping to that conclusion? Can't read that well?

  • @F33bs yeah... he probably does... it's true isn't it? Just because something is not polite, doesn't make it untrue.

  • @mingemachine No, it's not true. Shashi Tharoor is an accomplished Indian writer and intellectual. Is it maybe that you are just projecting your own inadequacy on someone who has actually accomplished more than just waving their e-dick around the internet?

  • @MrNaryal hate doesn't cause cancer you silly person.

  • Comment removed

  • @abakhsho Yes, infact I saw an interview with him where he said he drinks to make other people more interesting. lol.

  • Does that mean that we can expect to hear of you demise soon, because of credulence and wickedness ?

  • May I ask...Are there any British people watching this? Interested to know as would like as many people as possible to see Hitchens on this, it's too important.

  • A law professor said that the argument about crying "fire" in a crowded theater does not hold up as that is a false alarm and not speech/ideas.

  • I say bring on blasphemy laws.

Every religion is a blasphemy to another religion, so we may finally be rid of them all.

  • @jemorrismmorris : Amen brother ! :)

  • you people who are talking down to tharoor are the biggest numbnuts in the world. Tharoor hasn't even said anything in this video, and you guys are taking Hitchens side. All tharoor has said that he disagrees with him. I bet most of you are atheists or simply fans of his books. Learn to listen first, and then judge! Dumbasses.

  • @IndianOpinion

    Nonsense.

  • @IndianOpinion You're talking rubbish. I haven't even bothered to read your comment, I just know you are. lol.

  • funny how hitches proved that drinking and smoking yourself to death wasn't the right answer either..... being full of shit doesn't count as survival of the fittest ... good riddance!

  • @abakhsho I guess that makes you a mind reader.... sounds like you have it all figured out...dork

  • This Tharoor guy is a complete idiot. Why do these idiots even bother debating Hitchens when they know they're going to be steamrolled even when he is drunk.

  • one thing i didn't understand that someone might be able to help with. when Hitchens refers to the 'invisible exports' of the UK around the 7:04 mark, what is he referring to??

  • its common for people in debate to have a drink or 2 it calms you down allows not worry about how nervous you might be and not mind 100 people booing you

  • @griz88 Yes, but in Hitchen's case, it's so he can stand to listen to the idiocy of the other side.

No offense to this guy, haven't listened to this vid yet. Just basing this off of other debates I've seen of Hitchens.

  • Hitchens is a brilliant man, that is probably due to the fact he is not dumbed down by religion. He has to dumb down however to not to completely destroy these idiot that keep trying to take him on.

  • Religious people are the shit on the shoe of humanity. They comprise a very big shit, I admit. Yes, there's lots of them. Mostly the illiterate, primitive, cowed peasants of this world....and those who control them through fear.

What irritates religious control freaks more than anything, I think, is our lack of fear. I'm unafraid to say openly that their god doesn't exist and even if he did, I wouldn't respect the cunt. Fuck their stupid non-existant god. Fuck them and fuck their moronic faiths

  • @exchangeisno id not take such a hard stance on them they are just misdirected or deluded at worst, please dont address them as immune to change or cure :)

  • @sushanalone Bad ideas are bad ideas, even if they are religious. Bad ideas don't deserve respect. PEOPLE do. But if someone goes up against Hitchens and expects their views to be respected or handled delicately then s/he is a moron.

I agree with you that you can't discount people as immune to change. Many religious people have later in life learned the error of their thinking.

  • @exchangeisno you are being no better than them when you are being an extremist of anti-religion.

  • @sushanalone

Wrong....I am being much better than them because my ideas are founded on knowledge and not superstition. Stop being afraid to say that a moron is a moron. That superstition is repugnant and dogma is disgraceful.

Why are people like you so afraid to be honest? Why are you so respectful of nonsense and brainwashing? Grow a pair buddy boy.

  • @sushanalone There's a difference between the extremism of 'exchangeisno's comment and religious extremism. It's that no one is dead after a YT comment. If you want to attempt the high ground, you better think it through and realize exactly what's being implied.. .

And a harder stance is, in fact, necessary. Religion isn't a joke. It's not funny, it's not cute, it's not respect worthy, & it's not harmless. People get lied too, brain-washed, traumatized, murdered or worse, all around the planet.

  • MORE THAN MANGE—What's being taught to our children is that the govt. IS the authority on the U.S. Constitution. Just as the Holy Father, Pope Ben 16, is incapable of erring on matters of Faith, so it shall be understood that the central {formerly Federal} govt. is incapable of violating the document that its employees have sworn an oath to protect and to defend. More prisoners = better law enforcement; Less privacy = more safety; Fewer rights = more protection...

  • is it just me or does hitchens always have something extra to say when someone starts to talk.. makes me chuckle everytime!

  • The best thing we humans have is different ways to think and different opinions about different issues that's what make the world what it is...

  • Can I have all of the Hitches alcohol wasted cells please, as damaged and as wasted as they are for me it would be a massive upgrade :)

  • @arniemazmax

    haha too true.

  • @arniemazmax Alcohol does not in anyway damage or kill brain cells.

  • @arniemazmax Brain cells from a swine would be an upgrade for you.

  • @arniemazmax

I think it would be an upgrade for most of us.

  • @arniemazmax first, you will have to fight me for them. this man's writings help me quit that screed of a religion - islam. i, an ex-muslim, am forever in debt to senor hitchens.

  • @Nusrat5791 Thats brilliant, I am an ex Jehovahs Witness so I understand strict extremism. I am pleased you got out. For me it was Mr Dawkins book the God Delusion that cleared the fog once and for all (I knew something wasn't right but sincerity had me holding on).

  • People try to bring up Hitchens' alcoholism as a point of embarassment to him and a negative indigation of character, which i think is bullshit. Churchill was an alcoholic as well, yet i doubt anyone would deny him his greatness.

  • @gregonamus When an alcoholic can still obliterate one's argument, they are better to not bring it up at all, you'd think ;)

  • @gregonamus Actually, Hitchens himself would deny Churchill being a great leader. Read his piece in The Atlantic from April of 2002, "The Medals of his Defeats."

  • @abakhsho i think it's both actually..lol. he is a bit of a drinker, but hell, everyone brings up the same sorry ass points against him....he's surely incredibly bored

  • i'm not getting the p g wodehouse joke

  • That's one big glass of scotch he's got there.

  • I hope hitchens cuts down on the drink....

  • I doubt it.

    According to Wiki:

"Hitchens admits to drinking heavily; in 2003 he wrote that his daily intake of alcohol was enough "to kill or stun the average mule", noting that many great writers "did some of their finest work when blotto, smashed, polluted, shitfaced, squiffy, whiffled, and three sheets to the wind."

I doubt you could outsmart him in a debate either, no matter how much he had to drink. In my opinion he is one of the smartest people in the world.

  • @OddityDK I'll donate my nubile young-man's liver to Hitch. Keep him goin' strong !!

  • @junkbx3r lol me too! So thats 2 livers he has lined up!

  • @junkbx3r The adjective "nubile" denotes a young *woman* of marriagable age or condition. The nearest male analogue is probably "virile".

Just thought you'd like to know.

  • @polymath7 thanks.

  • Oh, here we go: when your speech (expression, whatever) causes harm it's bad --> when it causes OFFENSE it's bad.

    Bullshit.

Offense is irrelevant when discussing truth and must not be taken into account.

In entertainment: every joke is going to offend someone somewhere.

  • lol

  • gee...why do people feel insulted by intellectuals...? Baseless nonsense, of course

  • Ok, Chris is a monster debater, but I wonder how it would be like to hang out with him? Cuz, he's pretty much an ass, but at the same time, his incessable sarcasm must be fun to be around. Just wondering.

  • @gargamel6699

"his incessable sarcasm must be fun to be around."

I love sarcastic people. The ones who play nice are usually very boring.

  • i rekon u couldnt

  • @abakhsho

I hope that you are right.

  • 4:21 Nasty hickup there.

If you drink your whisky sitting down you'll get a hickup.

Mr Hitchens, you have to drink it standing on your head!

3:57 ...and at least two packages of cigarretts from his pocket.

    I hope he's not alcoholic.

  • I hope he doesn't drink to much of that scotch.

  • Smoking and drinking Johnny Walker Black during a debate lol

  • is that a FULL GLASS of Scotch sitting in front of Hitchens ?!? lol i notice by the end video its almost gone

  • iyiuyuiyiuyiuyiuy

  • I laugh at people who attack the government for taxing their cigs for $2 while accepting that a product that costs 2 cents to produce is being packed with chemicals and sold to them for $7.50 by some corporate fuckwad who lives like a 7th-century sheik. At least the government reinvests it in the community (maybe); the CEOs take it and shove it up the cunts of their mistresses when they aren't snorting it or paying off Congressmen with it.

Brokeback Mountain is in Marlboro Country. Bend over.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!

    Well said, man!

  • bravo

  • when a mob of angry people threaten violence to keep someone quiet that isn't democracy, its fascism. That is the most concise and pure example of fascism. The will of the mob as law enforced by mob violence.

  • Exactly. The whole POINT of the Constitution is that individuals have the right to think and worship and live as they see fit, even if their thoughts and gods and lifestyle are "frowned upon" by every single other citizen of the country. They recognized that running the country by majority rule, as with referenda, would be akin to mob rule. The majority should NEVER be allowed to vote on the rights of the minority. That's why all these anti-gay marriage referenda are wrong and un-Constitutional.

  • I demand higher volume.

  • it should be the dial on your speaker

  • Just came across this. Never thought bakewell was a patronising sort, but her opening remarks to Shashi reminded one of how greyish ones used to talk to natives. may be it's her age, she can't help it.

  • It always amazes me when atheists smoke. They know more than anyone that we only get one life.

  • So have a good time. Drink, smoke and be merry.

  • Exactly. And they decide they want to enjoy their life, rather than spend it being clean and pure. As the saying goes, "you only live once." So, live up!

  • Smoking is stupid and Christopher Hitchens is smart enough to know it. Those cigarettes control your life - I know from first hand experience.

Why not "live it up" longer?

  • FTR, Hitch quit smoking in 2007.

Also, you may think smoking is stupid, but that's an opinion, and nothing else. Everybody knows smoking is dangerous, and some people choose to do it anyway. It's their choice, and we have no say in it. Don't be like Rob Reiner.

  • Hoorah, I'm happy to hear it. I'm sure it was difficult for him.

Opinion? Bull shit. They cost SO much money now, are as addictive as heroin, stain your teeth, turn your breath intyo an ash tray, are a fire hazzard, make this yellow sludge on your walls and in your lungs, kill you. My "opinion" is as backed up as evolution.

  • "They cost SO much money now"

That's the fault of a paternalist government trying to force smokers to quit. Also known as 'fascism'.

    "as addictive as heroin"

    Not by a long shot.

Your argument absolutely reeks of strawman, and it is only an opinion that you think smoking is stupid. Butt out, Rob Reiner, lest you get a cig put out in your eye.

  • By MARTIN TOLCHIN, Special to the New York Times

    Published: May 17, 1988

WASHINGTON, May 16— The Surgeon General of the United States warned today that nicotine was as addictive as heroin and cocaine and recommended the licensing of those who sell tobacco products and tougher laws prohibiting their sale to minors.

  • Listen, this fact is known all over - here is just ONE example. The government has put the taxes on cigs to try and cover their losses from covering losers with cancer and emphesema CAUSED by those cigs. It's your right to be stupid and it's MY right to point out that what you're doing is stupid. Got it?

  • Bullshit. The government doesn't cover people, other than Medicare and Medicaid (programs which were not created for the reason you say) and they've been taxing the shit out of tobacco for years. This has nothing to do with healthcare; it's all social engineering. The government is invading people's privacy with all this anti-smoking legislation. If you don't like being around smokers, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

If people disagree with you, they MUST be stupid. hope it feels good to be so smug.

  • Nicotine is also an extremely useful drug for those who can benefit from it. I don't smoke personally, but people use it and appear to get something out of it. Good for them.

  • already saw this and came back to watch it again because it was so good

  • oh yes, and you wanted a source: Search on google: Poll: Creationism Trumps Evolution

  • Polls are bullshit. The one polling people can ask the same question in different ways, and get two different answers from the same person, depending on how they ask it. I don't believe them for a second.

  • Joan thought that freedom of speech and freedom of religion were covered in different amendments? And they call us Yanks ignorant of other countries and their laws.

  • Come on be real, do you no the 43 clause of magna carta? ( this is rhetorical, it would be very easy for you to look it up, or any clauses from the original Polish constitution ( The first ever modern constitution)

  • I'm confused; are you telling me to look up the Magna Carta because of what I said about ignorance? Or are you claiming that Joan was referring to the Magna Carta when she claimed Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion were covered in different amendments?

By the way, Clause 43 has nothing to do with either freedom of speech or religion. What were you trying to say?

  • Non of these things, I'm simply saying that just because Joan does'nt know that the persived two amendments are one in the same does'nt mean that she is ignorant that's all, and all that I'm saying is just because you don't know the exact details of other nations constitutions, does'nt make you ignorant either, just thought that the fact that you asumed that other ppls should no ur amendments when you don't no theirs was a tad arrogant, no offence

  • I'm not saying that foreigners who don't know our constitution are ignorant. However, if she's supposed to be a scholar, it's clearly her job to know these things. If she were an average citizen, she wouldn't be chairing this debate. If I went in to chair a debate on an issue, and got a rather important and well-known fact wrong, I'd be very embarrassed.

  • That's fair enough tbh I commented b4 acually viewing the clip, so did'nt get the context of who was saying it, my bad lol And I personally did'nt know either, as I've heard many religious people say things about freedom of speech impeeding of freedom of religion

  • @ soapfiction:

thmmmm... Do you know anything about the Danish constitution, or perhaps the German constitution? Maybe the French constitution is your field? Didnt think so. Yanks might be ignorant for a lot of reasons, but not knowing other countries constitutions is not one of them. Yanks might get their reputation as ignorant because I have never met one who could point out Afghanistan on a map, or perhaps because 40 % believe in creationism...

I dont mean to offend anyone... I love USA!

  • Did you not read the last comment clearly? If she's chairing a debate on free speech and the 1st Amendment, she's expected to know what they entail. From her position, thinking that freedom of speech and religion are covered in different amendments was an embarrassment.

"I have never met one who could point out Afghanistan on a map"

You clearly don't meet many people, then. Post-9/11, it's hard to find someone who can't find Afghanistan on the map.

    "40% believe in creationism"

    Proof?

  • 3:

And about the 40 % of Americans believe in creationism I was wrong. Its actually more like 51% (in 2005 I will give you, that it might have fallen a bit since then)! And might be much more if you add Intelligent Design to the creationists (which you should because its the same thing - different bottles). This can very well be the definition of ignorance!!!! Surprised? Horrified? You should be!

  • 2:

Ohhh yes, I meet enough people! Think you would be surprised if you actually tried asking around if anyone can point out Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia etc. But dont take my word for it try.

  • 1:

Indeed she is, but this is not a debate about the free speech in USA alone, and its certainly not a debate about the American constitution. Im reacting to the fact that you call her ignorant because she doesnt know your constitution to the full, when this debate actually is more about the Danish constitution (Danish cartoons). So, im reacting to what I would call your arrogance!

  • They are in Britain, why would she need to know the 1st Amendment of America?

That's a little self-centered, thinking that America is the only country with free speech provisions.

  • Joan asked Hitchens about the US Constitution, and seemed to believe that the rights to free speech and freedom of religion were covered in different amendments, and implied that they contradicted each other. She should know better than that, if the US constitution is one of the subjects of the debate she is moderating (and it is). As for your last comment, I never implied that only the US had free speech provisions. Stop putting words in my mouth.

  • The US Constitution isn't what was being argued at all. The debate is about free speech in any country.

Hitchens brought up the 1st Amendment, and she responded to it. It was by no means an integral part of the discussion.

I can't believe I have to point out such an obvious fact, but what's worse is that you even bring it up like it is an actual slight against her.

  • The US constitution was one of the items being discussed, as there are cases of tension between Islamic groups and those who criticize Islam in the US. Joan brought it up, thank you very much, and tried to imply that the freedoms of speech and religious practice came into conflict with each other by claiming that they were covered in different amendments. She said that they 'clashed' when, in fact, they are virtually the same right; ignorance on her part that Hitchens corrected.

  • Yeah. She was wrong. Get over it.

It doesn't make her a bad moderator.

  • it basically is the only country with absolute free speech.

    Self-centered? america is the best,

  • 65% deny the fact of evolution.

  • milloselmejor

    40% actually

  • Comment removed

  • 4 out of 10 is actually 40%. I hope you are not advocating creationism.

  • ???

    Seriously?

    4 out of 10 is 63%? Wow.

Congrats, you completely failed to use your brain before posting.

  • I mistyped it. 4 out of 10 believe in Evolution. That means that 40% believe in it, while 60% do not . Go to gallup(dot) com and paste this poll/114544/Darwin-Birthday-Believe-Evolution.aspx

  • @kouga66

well, of course suicide isnt wrong, but unneccessary in the most cases. I mean you aren´t silly enough to call a person who´s uncurable ill and wants to end his/her pain someone who does the wrong thing aren´t you?

  • What about in the case of lazy absurdists? What difference does it make what the reason is if one wishes to punch their ticket?

  • Is Chris drinking scotch?

  • I would be... the subject of David Irving make me have a nasty taste in my mouth that is easily cleansed with a fine single malt...

  • Probably...he loves Johnny Walker Black.

  • [PhiloCentinel ] "Yes, smoking is bad and correlated with cancer, I know that, but that doesn't make it wrong, fucktard. It doesn't harm other people," (umm, second hand smoke is harmefull to other people (even other smokers, so smokers can only smoke when completly alone?)

"Your body is your own property and you can do whatever you want to it, morally; harmful =/= morally wrong." (suicide is not morally wrong?)

  • Actually, it has never been proven with real science that second hand smoke is harmful. I know that sounds crazy, but do some research and you'll find it's true. The second hand smoke propaganda arose out of, more than anything, the continued wish to ban smoking in spite of the fact that no convincing fact-based argument could be made for doing so.

    You spelled harmful wrong.

And, no, suicide is not morally wrong.

  • Suicide could be morally wrong, if other people suffer, because of it.
