I would immensely appreciate it if you could create a tutorial. Learning this peice would really help my skill level. Right now, I'm reading Air on G String by Bach, so you can imagine what my skill level is.
This is the most beautiful interpretation of this piece I've found on YouTube... simply AMAZING. I also love that EWQL Steinway. I am picking up that library as a Christmas gift for myself probable, and I just can't wait to have pianos that sound this nice.
hi, first I wanted to say that you play this pice beautifully. Sorry about my ignorance, I own a Yamaha P140 and I'm a little bored with it's piano voices. How you managed to use another piano sample? You connected th CP to a computer? what kind of interface you use? I tried to connect the P140 via MIDI port to my computer but It doesn't sound great like yours...thank you in advance!
The CP uses a USB connection to the PC. The sounds are software based, so using any MIDI keyboard, you tell your recording software (eg. Sonar, Cubase, Pro Tools, Reaper) to output the MIDI signal using whatever sound/instrument you want. These additional sounds usu come in the form of Vst plugins which work with most major recording apps. The Quantum Leap pianos have the best quality piano sounds I've heard, but there are others (some free).
Thank you for your answer...I think I know why I'm having problems with my connection...the P140 doesn't have a USB port to connect it directly to my PC...I'm using a MIDI to USB converter and I'm experiencing some delay, even using the ASIO4ALL driver...I probably need an interface like M-Audio Mobile Pre or something like this. Thank you anyway. I listened to Quantum Leap samples in their site and you are absolutely right...their pianos sound like no other...best wishes from Brazil.
In my experience, the latency is most likely due to your sound interface rather than the MIDI connection. I had the same issue, resolved by getting a good sound interface. The ASIO4ALL with my onboard sound card didn't work for me either. My latency with an M-AUDIO Firewire Solo now is undetectable to my ear. Using the sound manufacturer's recommended firewire board rather than the onboard also made a difference.
Jeff, now I'm confused again..I went to M-Audio site to learn more about the Firewire Solo you mentioned and I wasn't able to understand the connection scheme for this interface. There are only s/pdif digital inputs in this interface and the CP300 doesn't have this type of connector and if you're not using the MIDI ports, how you manage to use the CP as a controller? Thank you and sorry for taking so much of your time.
The Firewire Solo connects to the PC via a firewire interface, not to the CP300. My external speakers connect to the firewire solo. The Solo is really a replacement for the sound card. Does that help?
Man, I really love this peace. Too bad Debussy wrote in such difficult keys. But who knows, some day I may master them. Yo play it VERY nice. Is this a sample of the CP300 or a virtual in a PC? I read the piano's in the CP300 are to bright, what do you think- because I thinking of buying one... Anyway, hope you will post more of this - Claire de Lune for example?
The sound sample is the EastWest Quantum Leap Steinway D. The CP300 has an OK out-of-the-box sound, but doesn't compare to EWQL sounds samples. I picked the CP because it had the best real piano touch that I found.
I'm no sort of advertiser or anything. I just happened to see your comment. Visit rocket-piano (dot) org. Out of personal experience that is a very good site! You don't even need to buy. The free beginners course is a great way on the first step towards learning to read sheet music. Cheers ^^
Love what you do. Be patient and practice slowly and deliberately, bearing deep into the keys when learning at the slower tempos. You'll be amazed at how quickly the speed will come if you work your way up the ladder.
