Please don't attack me and call me a hater but why is it that every footage of Hendrix that I see he's just fucking around on the guitar. Everyone seems to be so influenced by him but I can't seem to get myself to listen to him.
Robert Johnson had songs praising satan. This is where metal is coming from. Robert johnston -----> jimi hendrix (the 1st heavy metal act)---->black sabbath(the 1st to add some to no folk influences at all)

00:51 - is it just me or does Ozzy look uncannily like Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel at the end of Spinal Tap talking about working in a haberdashery at the end of the film? Sometimes parody is so close to the truth it's scary...
even today marshall amplifiers are made in china or country by that.....back in those days a marshall amplifier was a uk made!!!....thats why it was so much hard to afford one! now everybody has one!
thanks very much for upload i was 4 year old when this was on. The golden age of heavy metal. Its funny how alot of bands mentioned on this documentry most noteably ozzy, maiden and metallica are still big now and sell a few albums despite this been 21 years old. Theres so few proper metal bands around now thats big bands. Theres only really bullet for my valentime, trivium and avenge sevenfold
The bbc's documentaries on music aren't as good as the ones produced in america. Their history documentaries are the best.. I feel the bbc gives the most accurate accounts of history, but when it comes to these rock documentaries the fall short. Not because of their lake of information are research because this documentary defitnitely has that, but the way its put together and the things they focus on when it comes to the music is kinda boring.
@mikandfras Try VH1's ROC DOCS "The Story of Heavy Metal"; Or try "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" by Sam Dunn, an anthropologist and life long heavy metal fan. These are the two best Heavy Metal Documentaries. They really go in depth about the music as well its stars and they also talk about the effects that the music has had on popular culture.
fuck that bullshit. I had marshalls turned up to 11 for years and my hearing is shot for the rest of my life. I don't give a fuck. Small price to pay for rock n roll
I love old school heavy metal and rock 'n roll, but the Slayer clip at around the 2 minute mark just pisses me off. You can't tell a single note or melody in there, excluding the intro, just fast drumming and guitar. And don't come telling me it's "bad video quality", it's bad music, that's all there is to it.
north america sux ass at the time they were trying to shove new kids and milli vanilli and vanilla ice down our gullets! thank god we killed most fake bullshit too bad we didnt kill simon cowell@sshole resurected fake shit oh well slayer and motorhead are still stalking him!
Good 4 u! No good bands come by my area the last band that did was Linkin Park 2 years ago... and i aint into their music. im not even gonna say what city im from because everybody bums it but its shit trust me.
Does anyone remember back in the 80's there was a documentary on TV. It may have been about the electric guitar. In it there was this 13-14 year old boy who was a good guitarist and who played (I think) a Gem 77. He was driven about by his father who also acted as a kind of manager. Anyone recall this programe? It's name? Thanks.
@mayney That is Black Mountain Side off of the first album. If you want a killer version look for the live version called White Summer/ Black Mountain Side
If you really want to know what that song is, strictly it's "Blackwaterside" by Bert Jansch. Jimmy Page ripped off the guitar part - giving Jansch no credit - and renamed it Black Mountainside. Big stars would often rip off folk musicians like this and give them no credit, another example is Paul Simon's arrangement of "Scarborough Fair" which was ripped off note for note from Martin Carthy.
I just dont understand why they remove films like this!! I mean its a 20 year old documentary that was shown on TV!!! Why dont they just give it a rest? I get (but dont like) when they remove videos of bands who have a new song out but to remove a video thats been shown on tv a long time ago is just bullshit!
Naplam Death have always had a very strong political theme to their lyrics. Far from being a stupid joke, now Manowar...that's what i always found funny in metal.
