friedjeboeree, my father is very ill right now and we're not sure how long he has to go. He is currently in hospital (he is 86). I often think that this would be the perfect song to play for him at his funeral. Gord just seems to evoke such emotion with his songwriting and voice (back in the 70's) that really moves you. Just listen to a song like THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD and you feel the pain of those family members and friends who lost someone on that day in November of 1975.

friedjeboeree, thanks for your reply. Yes, I know the song IF YOU NEED ME. I own the Dream Street Rose Album (from 1980). It's a pretty solid album for sure. I have every Gord Album either on vinyl or CD. I like the line in the song where he says: "If you need me, show me a way to walk tall..." Merry Christmas!!!

So nice to share this.I have the vinyl album too,I bought it in 1984 but have no record player anymore.I tried to buy the album but nowhere to be found so I ordered it on internet but takes 2 weeks for delivery.I can't wait to hear those songs again after so many years. If you love Gord as much as I do, check out the song SHADOWS. What a beautiful song. No surprise, it was written by that Lightfoot Guy. I bought an acoustic guitar about 10 years ago and learned some chords so I could play some Gordon Lightfoot songs at cottages.

I have a favorite number of him with a lot of memories to my boyfriend who died in 1989...and I couldn't find it on you tube so I ordered the cd. I do not understand why this song touches me so magically and mystically as it does, but it does so like no other. This video complements Lightfoot's mastepiece in just such a magical and mystical way. My favorite element: the heart-shaped cloud!

I made this picture last year on christmas eve and de heart was already more than half formed by a cloud, so the other half I did with photoscape....I wish I saw a real full heart onces in a cloud....so beautiful! I have special memories of this song of my boyfriend who died in the mountains.

I have nearly all of Gordon Lightfoots records. He was awesome singer when he began in the early 60s and is still great, even after the illness that almost killed him before the album, Harmony, came out.

I saw Gordon on a TV music show ( Austin City Limits? I don't know) several years ago ( he was about 60)- he still sounded really good. Old age has finally caught up with him, I fear. Glad to hear him at his best.

was so happy to find the original-God Bless him-the other versions are a shadow of his former self and I don't like Sarahs. My husband introduced me to Gordon back in the early seventies-used to dance around with our baby to "Cotton Jenny".My husband used to kid around and call him Gordon "Heavy Toes!!"
