This made me cry! I was sent to institutions because no one understood I was autistic, I think for this reason a proper diagnosis is really important. It's touching how much you love your daughter.

I wish it was because a school wouldn't take me. it was because my parents couldn't deal with me. I just sat quietly in school. They passed me through. There isn't much in the way of help for autistic adults either. Ridiculous really.

It's only because he is 8 and still has his emotional meltdowns.

I wish they would just deal with it and let him be home with me and go to school like any other kid!!

He is on the lower spectrum of Aspergers.

Yeah I know the feeling. I still have emotional meltdowns too. I have full blown autism but it is on the high end considered high functioning autism (HFA) It's really just semantics though since I have a college degree and am quite intelligent. Unfortunately the need for services for even high functioning adults is critical. I can't work and am currently homeless cause I don't qualify for DD services (too high functioning).
