  • Thanks mate for the great and informative video.

  • Good instruction mate, thanks alot, from Washington DC!

  • @eyewarnedyou years

  • take the headlight off it's easy and you won't have to worry about scratches

  • just use brake fluid a little on a rag cleans ur headlights like new i swear

  • I am not much of a DIY type person. But after watching your video, I brought a bottle of polish and was able to get the yellowing of the plastic out as well as make the headlamp casings of my 11 year old car clearer. Now I could see the scratches but still an improvement over what it was.

It took me about 15 minutes to do and I saw much improvement. Perhaps a few more sessions of polishing will get rid of the scratches.

  • Thanks for the D.I.Y. video. It is simple and to the point.

  • you could also use masking tape ( paper tape ) to protect surrounding elements :)

  • I would sand with wet and dry 3000 or 2000 grit and then polish. Other than that, good vid.

  • Your dog wants face time!!

  • If you were so afraid to get it on the hood/bonnet why didn't you simply open the hood/bonnet?

  • Why not do this procedure with your bonnet raised.

  • Hi

    Nice video

Will this work on conv top plastic windows?

  • @regenerati I don't know. Perhaps try it on a small, inconspicuous area if possible. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

  • so any kind of small soft pad will work?

  • @danno0099 I think so. A mate has used a dish sponge and it worked really well. Another mate used just an old cloth nappy and it was fine too, except he used about five times as much polish because the cloth soaked up so much of it. Thanks for your comment.

  • wow, up untill 4:10 i was like "wtf does he think he is doing" then i was like WOW

  • spring water to rinse off? this guy must grow money on trees!

  • @jschristian44. Fair enough, I guess it might seem that way. I reuse the bottles over and over again, refilling them with tap and purified water. The water I used was straight tap water. In some countries such tap water would be sacrilege to use n a car; it's all relevant I suppose. Thanks for your comment.

  • @jschristian44 It's QLD - it's illegal to use the hose on hard surfaces, such as this, due to drought conditions.

  • CILIT BANG!

    Good as new!

  • True. a bloody Yank. I didn't mean anything negative, It's just the instant I saw the vid, it came to me. Maybe the cloud cover?

    Great tip by the way.

  • @badderthanyou no probs, mate. I see you're from Algeria, haven't ever met anyone in Australia from Algeria. Yeah, cloud cover in the vid, we get about two to four weeks of mild winter a year and this vid was shot during a day of about 25 degrees Cmaximum, which is about as cold as it gets around here; hence the jumper because anything under 28 degrees Cis cold to us. Thanks for your comment.

  • @fulbore Cripes! 28C? Tha's COLD?? I'm frickin' ROASTING at that temp! Reminds me of a mate of mine whose Filipina girlfriend complained about the weather--said it was about 80F (27C or so) "the coldest day of the year"! I about died. As you say, it's all relative. Eye opener, though.

  • I knew you would have an accent before the vid started.

  • @badderthanyou we all have an accent. What's yours?

  • also the polish does not take off your paint i have use that same polish 100+ and it has gotten on the paint and nothing happen

  • great video but fyi if u have a yellowed over headlamp lens it's due to sun exposure try a little polishing compound from turtlle wax or rubbing compound and buff the yellow out apply and buff it out i use it all the time

  • I've used this same stuff, using a hand drill at low speed with the polishing wheel attached, and it works well. PLEASE NOTE: if your headlight is completely clouded over and yellowed, this stuff won't work, as the plastic is ruined through and through.

  • this shit doesn't take the paint off. you just told everyone to take extra precaution over a task that is a piece of cake.

  • Is it uncommon to repeat this several times on an older car? (1995) Very dingy!

  • Yes, you'll need to repeat this every time the headlamp lense becomes cloudy. Polycarbonate lenses of any age that become cloudy will all need attention periodically.

  • Good vid! I'll have to try this when it's daylight out. Who made the pads you used for the buffing?

  • lol looks like some one doesnt like to be wrong

  • what is that product name you use

  • Meguiar's. They have the Plastic Polish and the Applicator Pads. I think there are other brands out there, it's just I haven't used them. Thanks for watching.

  • well i changed my moms headlight in her 2002 grand am. last year and it was only 2 tabs if i remember right.

  • You remember wrong, nerd!

What the fuck is a 'tab' anyway??

  • a little metal doflicky you pull up with a pair of plyers haha. and thanks for callin me a nerd. it makes me seem smart ahah :P

  • you are refering to the light bulb not the actual headlight fixture

  • yeah to take the headlamp out, you should pop the bulb out. you dont realy have to, but its nice to have it out of the way, and it only takes a twist n pull :D

  • youre an idiot..... my car only has two tabs holding it in too...... retards these days

  • Iam Chopper Reid and that how yeah clean yeah fcking car!

  • it'll eat though paint?! ouch ahah i think your best bet would be to just take your headlamp out ahha

  • Nah, it won't 'eat' through paint, there's just a bit too scratchy for duco. There's a chance of scratching the clear coat. Remove the lamp? no, too much work when all you've got to do is just be careful, besides, the discolouration doesn't ususally extend to the edge of the lense. Thanks for the comment.

  • yeah.. but it only takes like 5 minets to get out. haha just pop the hood, pull out 2 tabs, pick the headlamp up. twist n' pop out the buld and there ya go :D haha

  • Tape of the area first otherwise spot on.

  • Yeah, totally agree. I do now, just didn't occur to me at the time. Great and very simple suggestion, thanks.

  • tape your surrounding area first!

  • I could watch you dry a headlamp for hours. Try editing.

  • wow, thanks fulbore nice tutorial, i will buy plastx soon.

  • sweet, what kinda pad is that. do i need it or can i just use a rag.

  • you can use a clean, lint-free rag, but the pad is a specific one made by Meguires for polishing.

  • Thats what I use, I use it on paint too but use a T-shirt.

  • Ok, never thought of using it on the duco. How is it on the clear coat?

  • It took out small scratches on ten year old paint rather well.

  • Great Tip!
