While I think the B&Ws are fine box speakers, but no speaker on the planet resolves detail like a good electrostatic. The entire diaphragm of a typical full range electrostatic is about the same mass as a one inch tweeter dome. Also, unlike moving coil speakers an electrostatic is a true force over area transducer. That means every square millimeter of it's diaphragm is acting upon by an electrostatic force.

Nice as the 800D's are I clearly prefer Quad 2905 electrostatics at 35% less cost.

@greyskull979 hello yes on a good set-up that speakers can sound astonishing!

the neutrality and breath and that quite clear backround is what i never forget,i felt

completely stil when i listen to this speakers and had a hard time holding me tears back

so real sound it. they are simply breathtaking

i don't recommend b&w in combination with rotel,both good brands but to me the combi of b&w and rotel

became metalic, there are better combinations that have the magic and don't lose much on detail.
