i love butchies tune but i dont know anyone who has heard it im 38 and because my dad played 60s music i grew up with it but when talking to people in pub about 60s music noone has heard of it i do know its about the women that used to put them up when the were gigging
It was written in the key of C; horse's mouth last night at Stowe Performing Arts. It is the most requested song not in their stage performance. I sort of like that it's scarce but would have loved to have heared it last night
Bald Headed Lena is just so catchy. And Butchie's Tune is fantastic, makes me appreciate country music a little bit more, not to mention Joe's voice is gorgeous on it.
anyone happen to know what key butchie's tune is played on the acoustic in this song? tryin to figure it out on my own but i'm tone challenged apparently
Not sure why, but I'm enjoying Big Noise From Speonk even more than I did in 1966. It's an even better instrumental than Night Owl Blues (I think, anyway!)
"Butchie's Tune" is so bittersweet and made all the more so by the beautiful guitar solo...that guy was always very underrated (as was the entire band). There's a great blues song on that album entitled "Day Blues"....I'd like to hear that again, sometime.

Butchie's Tune is a forgotten country classic.
If a new country artist covered it, it'd be a license to print money.
