  • Bo was a popular 3 sport guy - track, baseball, & football but being fast doesn't mean anything. Tony Dorsett was faster then both Bo & Earl but that doesn't make him better. No one in their right mind would take Bo over Not only Earl but Eric Dickerson, OJ, Barry, Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, Walter Payton Etc...

  • @1Blkkato Check it for yourself. Bo Jackson is clocked in the 40 yard as the fastest man to ever play football. His power was every bit as good as Earl, Jim, etc. In a poll among coaches he was the consensus 1st draft pick by 79%. You can argue the point wih me all you want but mathematics don't lie.

  • @Icyhotboo : Not going to argue debate with you just know the point I already made, so what if he Was the fastest he wouldn't be pick above the top 10.

  • @1Blkkato Please read my whole reply as your response leaves much to be desired in light of information that I imparted to you. 79% of all coaches , past and present would make Bo Jackson their #1 regardless of position played. Argue with them!

  • @Icyhotboo : This is a lost cause, I don't know what poll you're referring to but whatever who cares.

  • Stop with the Bo Jackson comparison, Bo couldn't carry Earls mouth piece. Bo is 2nd tier with guys like Billy Sims, Tony Dorsett, John Riggins, Hershell Walker Etc...

  • @1Blkkato Bo was the the fastest man to ever play football to this day. Along with his power a strong case can be made for him being one of the best.

  • @Icyhotboo : Bo was just popular he wasn't one of the best - he was a 3 sports guy track, baseball, & football. Being fast doesn't mean anything Tony Dorsett was faster then Earl & Bo but that doesn't make him better. Bo may be considered great among his fans but no one in their right mind would take him over Big Earl!

  • Not saying he was the best ever but he's right up there with Brown, Payton, Sanders, and Bo Jackson.

  • The nfl needs another Earl Campbell. I'm sick of all this dancing around. I wanna see someone hit

  • haha these guys cant touch walter payton

  • i don't see how people in here don't even acknowledge Barry Sanders, no matter what anybody can say barry was just as good if not better. I love'em both but noone is even bringing Barry up >:(

  • Without a doubt the best running back to ever play College or Pro football. You see all these prima dona running backs running out of bounds to escape a hit and avoid getting a few extra yards for their team. Not Earl he would run right thru you to get as many yards he could for his teams. If his career wasn't shortened due to him taking all these extra hits his career totals would be amoung the best or at the very top!

  • After careful accessment I must agree with those that say... BEST RUNNING BACK EVER! Without Earl, Texas was not that good... he made them better. Without Earl Houston was even worst... he was the Oilers. The speed, the power, the agility... numbers alone don't tell the whole story. Remember when looking at numbers he only played 8 years. Only Barry Sanders and Walter Peyton can stand with Earl when speaking of the best... and between them I have to give Earl the nod.

  • He's my favorite running back.

  • what a player and human being

  • Eral didn't run around people, Eral didn't run over people, Earl ran though people!

  • Great quote by Bum at the beginning.

  • no the best running back ever period

  • I would agree, best running back ever.

  • None were, or will ever be, better than Earl Campbell

  • The best running back ever!!!

  • best running back to ever exist.....the only man that can even stand near is Bo.....

  • @jackstitty barry sanders?

  • not one of the best but the best running back in the 70's. Played in a market fall smaller then LA, NY, Chicago yet he owned the NFL his first 4 years. As far as Power. no one had the leg strength this man had and the speed yes that includes BO!

  • One of the best running backs of the 70's and 80's

Best power back of all-time behind Marion Motley

  • Bill "Earthquake" Enyart

Charlie Tolar( The original 'Human Bowling Ball')
