A number of capabilities and certain programs that were a part of Windows Vista are no longer present Windows Photo Gallery, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Calendar and Windows Mail. Yes you can download the Windows Live Essentials but it sucks... Old programs work better. .

I tried Vista and couldnt stand it, i dont care if im wasting 3/4 of a gig of ram with the 32 bit version but i dont care much, its worth it to me to just skip the hassle with Vista. hopefully Windows 7 will be a god send compared to vista, otherwise i may consider Linux >.>
well yeah, but Windows Xp specifically has a bunch of glitched with 64-bit from just about everyone ive hear from, when i upgrade to Windows 7 ill get 64 bit
Not all of it, I think 64-bit supports 16gb of ram for premium and 128gb for Ultimate etc.
The more RAM you have the more RAM the operating system will take. It hogs as much RAM so when you demand it it's already loaded. Linux does that, that's why it uses 300-400mb. In reality it uses ~100 (I booted it on 64mb of ram and it loaded which was amazing). Linux is amazing.
At least some people like you benefit from Vista and compliment it. It's not as bad as people say.
ummm.. i think you need to take a look at the numbers again mc lovin. there are many versions of windows that can take alot more that 4 GB ram. even only at 32bit. for example there are 32bit versions of windows server 2003 that can take up too 128 GB of ram. anyways. just though you should know.

Then what if you have a really old computer with a PII? Yes, it is on how the user manages their computer. But it's not that in my case. I defrag every week, clean up files every day, and keep the system healthy every day. Windows is actually quite fast for me now. It changes over time.
Actually, when I tried Windows 7 and ran some tests on it, it was slower. I have no idea why, but it was. It's probably just my hardware, every computer is different.
Seriously vista is the slowest? Maybe on an underpowered system but it is deffinantly the fastest...
You are complaining it uses to much ram... Do you even know why? Clearly not i shall explain
As we all know Ram is faster than the HDD. So usually when you open a program it has to be loaded from the HDD > Ram... This is the longest process...
Windows vista preloads your most recent Programs and therefor is much faster. Vista uses 2gb of my 6gb of ram... Im not angry since its using those...
That is very true, and is called the prefetch in Windows. But, every OS has the to a certain extent. Windows still uses a lot of RAM with nothing installed. If Windows can compete with the RAM taken up in Linux/OS X, then I'll reconsider that thought. But as of now, it's still a RAM hog. It's the top major OS that hogs the most RAM. We all know that, but I still use it! ;)
yea i know what you mean i have had my vista for shortly over a year now and i have to admit it does start to get some lag after a while in time as any windows version or computer would do over time. though it still serves its purpose for me and i like to play games with it:) but i ahve never tried any of the new macs out there but i would love to very much i just dont know where to find any but also they are way to expensive.

Exactly! It just sounds like they are in it for money. It's another reason why I love Linux so much! Just because that people love it; and they actually want an upgrade. :D
A great example of this is DirectX 10. Because it can only run on Vista (natively). Although the thing is, this is why Windows isn't free. Microsoft wants their money, almost like forcing you to upgrade.
i know if i came about an os that didn't run what ever software i already had before the windows came out i'd be sayin wtf similar to the whole ps3 compatibility thing too only the 60 gig 80 gig and 120 gig can run ps2 and 1 games
cause i think alot of ppl would be pissed if they couldn't use the software they got now and had to spend alot of money to replace software just cause the pc came with or was os updated
That is true; but as I said in my last comment, they should re-do their kernel. I say this because the kernel literally controls the whole operating system. You can run year-old software on Linux perfectly (now if it's hardware related, that's a different story). But the Unix kernel is so amazing, that Microsoft should develop something like it. If they can re-do it, with letter their software run on every OS to come (like Vista s/w running in Vienna), that would be amazing!
jasko the compatibility is a much needed part of windows some older games/software will not work on newer os's due to alil thing called support the compatibility provides that support so ur software doesn't become useless
Compatibility is important. But look at the kernel(s) for the Unix operating systems. They are amazing; one reason why I love Linux/OS X. You can upgrade, and pretty much have software support even years after. In Windows, they re-write the DLL's making them only run (correctly) on one OS. Like in Vista, you can only run Chess Titans in it (now you can get it to run on XP, but I'm not going to go there). The thing is, Microsoft needs to make their compatibly a little more sophisticated.
I use windows vista because i don't have a choice... every computer i have came with some version of vista pre-installed. I really don't like vista. (who does?)
Well, you can downgrade to XP. I'm also using Vista because I do not have a choice, but for a different reason. I can go to pretty much every Microsoft OS I would want to on this machine. The thing that's keeping me from not using Vista is the following: 1) Most of my Adobe programs only run on Windows, 2) I cannot run any of my Adobe programs 100% correctly on Linux (again, I happen to really like Linux), and 3) Windows is slow, and typically Linux is a lot faster... ;) Just my opinion...
The reason everyone in the world likes Vista is because MAC SUCKS!! you cant play any games on mac and office on mac makes me want to kill myself. the media center hooks right up to my xbox 360 and runs movies perfectly, mac cant do this. so games!Office!Windows Media Center! and I like power, and you cant get power with a MAC, plain and simple mac fails as Personal computing.
I think the major reason why vista isn't good is because the people running it don't have good enough specs to make it run well. I had no problems with it because I have a computer with 4gb of ram and a dual core 3.4 cpu
Get some knowledge? If you read the video description, I said, "here's my thoughts". It's an opinion. When I did this video, there was not that much on Windows 7. All we knew was what it was called, and very little real screen shots. Look at the date; August 26, 2008. BTW, I'm no noob. I've used every type of OS to man kind (released to the public); and still going. I know my way around every OS. I'm no noob at all... :D
If you want to say anything rude about anyone, you need to state why. What you said is rude to anyone who will read that. Obviously you do not want to listen to anyone's opinions'. If you don't want to listen, and respect other's opinion's, just state why. That is the end to this.
2. Linux is pice of shit. It's OS for maniacs who has too much time for configuration or masturbating.
3. Windows Vista, runs fu*king great on PC with 1,5GB+ RAM and fast HDD. Your PC/Notebook just sucks. Try using Vista on better hardware and you will see how good system it is.
4. Windows 7 will have same kelner. Why? It's awesome! Windows 7 will be Vista SP2 and it's going to rock.
1. Uhm, and why do you say that? I've used pretty much every OS ever released the public. I know how they all work. If you want to say something negative, back it up. Your opinion does matter, but as you back it up with true facts.
2. Have you even used Linux for your primary OS? Linux is way easier to configure than Windows. It's an extremely simple OS to get around in. Again, back it up with facts. State why...
3. Tell me this, compare a PC with Linux and Vista with the specs you...
specified. Linux will probably be much faster. It really depends PC to PC. Actually now, my PC isn't slow. I figured out what was doing that... Old drivers. ;) Had to upgrade them... I've used Vista on better hardware. I've used Vista on a quad-core, and it wasn't bad; but still, do you need that many specs just to run an OS? You shouldn't need anymore to run Vista. This is why people think Vista is a resource hog. As you said, if you used it with a "better hardware" system, it will be faster.
This is because Vista requires a lot of resources. Everyone can state that fact. The thing is, it shouldn't need that much. This is why Microsoft is working on a OS that will run faster than Vista, Windows 7. And from me looking at Windows 7, it defiantly runs faster.
4. It's called the kernel. ;)
Actually, the kernel in Windows needs to be re-written. Vista is still based upon the NT kernel. Basically, Windows have stuck with the same kernel since the old days. In Windows 7, I believe...
that they did re-write the kernel in it. Every Windows guru should agree to this. Actually, Windows 7 will be much better than Vista SP2. Actually, their supposed to be released pretty close to each other...
I honestly think Microsoft is actually finally trying to make Windows run on everyone computer. You should not need "better hardware" to run ANY OS. The thing if it needs any better, is better resources.
Again, all my personal opinions. That most people should be able to agree upon if...
Yes, I do know a bunch about operating systems... ;) I read about everything about OS's a lot. I know how they work. I've created my own OS (Unix-Based), I've beta tested them, and used every *main* OS for more than 3 weeks for my primary OS. I like changing my OS. Right now, I'm in Arch Linux. This morning, I was in Slackware Linux... I love working with other OS's . I know how everyone (pretty much) works... :)
I'm now downloading windows 7 pre beta from pirate bay....I'll try and make it my main os since they eature upgrades for it,i u want gimme ur yahoo and msn and I'll keep you up to date on how it performs
actually no dude....u can't get dx10 in xp literally, they just sorda "emulate it",I mean u get to use dx10 effects but he still uses the old dx9 libraries, therefore they'll be rendered in dx9 gualitty
the reason the operating systems use more RAM is because all they do is just keep adding on to it. that is the reason they have to wipe everything in windows 7. If they were to just keep adding on, windows 7 would require about 3 gigs of ram, which people just cant afford. good idea on dual boot Ubuntu and vista, that is what i have. and the only reason I have vista is because of the hardware compatibility and the range of software, other than that, Ubuntu is better.
Ubuntu is better than Windows. But, it's not mainly because Microsoft is adding on to Windows. The thing is, they need to think about resources now, not functionality! I'm not saying functionality isn't important, it's just that MS doesn't seem to care much. They're almost forced to redesign the kernel for Windows if they want to get it better.
I hope their boring to redesign Windows 7. Because if they don't change how Windows run, I can assure anyone it will be slower than Vista. :)
Your English is not that bad! If I can understand it, great! I have some people who speak English nativly, and I can barely understand them. :D
Yeah, I don't get straight A's. I'm close, but I'm just not that type of person. I'm great with technology, and I could ace pretty much any class someone would throw at me... :)
theres nothing rong with wanting to aim high for good results!
i bet you work in like a walmart stocking food or working in a gASS station!
WHEREAS THIS GUY COULD BE CREATING SOFTWARE AND MAKING LOADS OF MONEY! and you'll be sat there on your drunk ass asking your self"were did i go rong?" !!YOU SUCK!!
stop moking people who are more intellegent than you are!
You know, you are so right! I would love to help to improve Windows. There's so much that can be done with it... Yes, that do need the help. But, hopefully they look over to the internet to get their idea's... ;)
Every OS copies off each other... You cannot argue that. So, in the long run, every OS has combinations of other ideas in the different OS's... We all copy off each other. But, Vista isn't that bad with gaming now. It was bad a while ago; but it's getting better. :)
Service pack 3 for XP really made XP a bit like Vista plus you can run XP while making it look like Vista and there is a site that lets you download it for free!
No viruses or spywares I have scaned it =)
One good reason why people buy Vista is b/c of Direct X10
Yep, that's called the Vista Transformation Pack... :) I've used that too! It's probably the best way to do it. Wow, long time since I've actually used Windows... outside of school.
Actually, there's a way to get DirectX 10 working in XP. I've done it before. Maybe I should do a video of that sometime... But, that's a bit advanced.
I'll look back into using Windows as my main OS once Windows 7 releases. Right now, I'm in my own modified version of Linux... I have been for a long time too. :)
Haha, I don't do intro's, only endings... :D I usually just put something tiny on the end. It's just not me. Maybe someday I'll do a video filled with After Effects...
No wonder many people makes SOOOO many videos about "How to increase Vista speed" it's all because of this. Vista is crap slow. I don't know what it makes it so slow, it's just Vista. That's how it it. Vista=SLOW.
Windows 98, OK. Windows 2000, Fast. Windows ME, good improvement. Windows XP, the fastest and most used Windows today. Windows Vista, terribly slow. Windows 7, NIGHTMARE.
The boot speed doesn't matter that much. But it is important. I agree with what you say though. I happen to like Vista more than XP, but Leopard more than Tiger. Although I'm waiting for Snow Leopard to come out. That'll be awesome... :)
Well, Vista is a resource hog... One reason why I don't like to use it compared to other OS's. But I do a lot of things with Windows software, so I'm pretty much stuck with Vista... XP doesn't run well on this computer. I'll wait until Windows 7, then I'll see if it's any faster...
your a fag who cares they are smarter then you of course they messed up so they know what to change and they been developing window seven at the same time as vista...
your a FUCKING FAG that's all i gotta say why would you waste your time making a video talking about vista everyone already know but fuck you dont have to make a video also NO ONE CARES.............. and Microsoft knows they fucked up and they will make there change jeez just wait for the new OS and not everyone in the world is geek like you you fucking nerd....
Oh yeah, you also mentioned that they should redesign the kernel. That I agree with you. However, if you haven't used any of the milestones, then you might not know. What is so good about Windows 7 is that the KERNEL version is 7!!!!!!! WOW!
Sure, using Linux programs on Mac is possible, IF you use the X11 system. However, porting Mac programs to Linux is NOT the same thing, they use cocoa. And if they would release Tarballs "for people to compile" "people" would have the freaking code! Youre a so stereotypical when it comes to Linux too. Have you programmed it? I doubt that.
I've never coded for OS X. I have done some simple scripting (perl & python) in Ubuntu Linux. I'm not much of a linux coder; but I do understand the programming language, GTk++...
Yes you do 0.30 in this video "If this is the fastest system I ever used. No, it is actually the slowest out of all of them." I have no problems with Vista, XP goes 1000 times slower on my machine. But then again, it has always been weird.
Ohh, you're talking about that. I'm talking about Vista in general. I never said X64 is slow; I meant that Vista in general is slow. Which, is true; no one can disagree to that. But, Vista X64 and XP X64 are actually very close in all the tests I've done. XP is slower on your machine? That's strange... It's really fast for me; I just don't like having an old OS... One reason why I do not use XP anymore.
And when I said it was the slowest, I was comparing it too all the OS's out there... Compared to Linux, Mac OS X, (the rest of the OS's are pretty much the light weight ones); Vista is a the slowest. When ever I'm in a Unix based OS (like OS X or Linux), it's always faster than Windows. There's no doubt about it. Sorry for your misunderstanding... :)
My Vista partition boots up 2.30 minutes faster than XP, it opens, lets say GIMP in 12 seconds compared to XP's 20 and so on. I haven't got a DirectX compatible graphics card, although on XP but not on Vista (drivers for will say). And Vista does run faster on my machine in general. But compared to other non-windows based OS's it goes as fast as a snail...
"In 2007, Linux was hacked some 306 thousand times, while Windows 2003 was hacked only 114 thousand times in the most general of terms."
"Overall though, Linux total hacks since 2000 at 1,485,280 against Microsoft Windows 815,119 still shows a staggering trend towards insecure Linux installations " - Zone-H
Actually, I can somewhat agree with you. I honestly think though their going to redo the kernel in Windows 7. If they would, it would run so much faster... It's a bunch of work, but the outcome would be great.
Maybe, but actualy the name Windows 7 comes from the kernel version, which is NT 7.0, since it is still the NT kernel, it likely won't be that different.
They need it re-write the kernel from stractch or make a new one.
That's what I mean. Rewriting a kernel... They should just write one awesome kernel, and keep on updating it in the Windows Update client... Like they do with Linux. But no, MS doesn't want to do that. I'm just saying, if they did create a new one; or at least just for Windows 7 (rewriting), Windows would run so much faster... Someday they will. I hope it will be in 2010. :P
Well I gues we will see then, I honestly hope you are right, I don't use Windows because it's proprietary, but I hope the people do use it have a good expereince.:)
Open source does not mean it is easier to hack. What's funny is, Linux is actually hard to hack. Well, harder to hack than Windows. And the funny thing is, people use Linux (many people) to hack other computers. It's a bit ironic if you ask me. But no; open source does not mean it is easier to hack. If anything, it would be harder. Because there's a huge community for Linux, and all the open source OS's.
Just google for "linux server hacked" and see what I mean! Open source means that the hacker has direct acces to the source code of everything, kernel included!
You can arrange you files how you want. 7 doesn't let you to do thant no more, it's only by NAME, SIZE etc. WMP11 is much better then WMP12. And XP well OMG :'( I don't want to remember... And Vista is fast enuf! I love Vista, more then 7! I'm a PC and I'm using Vista!

why i like to use vista:
1. it came with my maptop and i used my friends xp laptop and compared to vista it sucked
2. better resolution then XP
3.security updates
4.its very fast(at least mine is)
5.its just right for me right now.
6. im not picky when it comes to using or how i get somewhere into the computer as long as it works as its supposed to then im fine with it.

If they can re-do it, with letter their software run on every OS to come (like Vista s/w running in Vienna), that would be amazing!
tjasko1 3 years ago
jasko the compatibility is a much needed part of windows some older games/software will not work on newer os's due to alil thing called support the compatibility provides that support so ur software doesn't become useless
shelbychevy1454 3 years ago
Compatibility is important. But look at the kernel(s) for the Unix operating systems. They are amazing; one reason why I love Linux/OS X. You can upgrade, and pretty much have software support even years after. In Windows, they re-write the DLL's making them only run (correctly) on one OS. Like in Vista, you can only run Chess Titans in it (now you can get it to run on XP, but I'm not going to go there). The thing is, Microsoft needs to make their compatibly a little more sophisticated.

Directx 10 is a reason to run vista alone...
vista is faster on my machine just upgrade your ram
blynx1337 3 years ago
Yeah, it's usually for DirectX 10... My RAM is actually a 5.9 in Vista; I just don't have enough of it. :D
tjasko1 3 years ago
I use windows vista because i don't have a choice... every computer i have came with some version of vista pre-installed. I really don't like vista. (who does?)
JoshBerg000 3 years ago
Well, you can downgrade to XP. I'm also using Vista because I do not have a choice, but for a different reason. I can go to pretty much every Microsoft OS I would want to on this machine. The thing that's keeping me from not using Vista is the following: 1) Most of my Adobe programs only run on Windows, 2) I cannot run any of my Adobe programs 100% correctly on Linux (again, I happen to really like Linux), and 3) Windows is slow, and typically Linux is a lot faster... ;) Just my opinion...
tjasko1 3 years ago
The reason everyone in the world likes Vista is because MAC SUCKS!! you cant play any games on mac and office on mac makes me want to kill myself. the media center hooks right up to my xbox 360 and runs movies perfectly, mac cant do this. so games!Office!Windows Media Center! and I like power, and you cant get power with a MAC, plain and simple mac fails as Personal computing.

I think the major reason why vista isn't good is because the people running it don't have good enough specs to make it run well. I had no problems with it because I have a computer with 4gb of ram and a dual core 3.4 cpu
laxmann019 3 years ago
Defiantly! You have to have really nice specs in order to run Vista at full speed. Luckily, they're fixing this in Windows 7.

Next time kid, when you will be trying to be smart, get some knowledge on the topic. And keep updating your toys, n00b.
darkshinmoteuchi 3 years ago
Get some knowledge? If you read the video description, I said, "here's my thoughts". It's an opinion. When I did this video, there was not that much on Windows 7. All we knew was what it was called, and very little real screen shots. Look at the date; August 26, 2008. BTW, I'm no noob. I've used every type of OS to man kind (released to the public); and still going. I know my way around every OS. I'm no noob at all... :D

No no no. You're n00b. Your "thought" sucks. You know shit about OS's. Good luck in your life, n00b.

If you want to say anything rude about anyone, you need to state why. What you said is rude to anyone who will read that. Obviously you do not want to listen to anyone's opinions'. If you don't want to listen, and respect other's opinion's, just state why. That is the end to this.

Ok kid, here's the true.
1. You know shit about OS's.
Windows 7 will be Vista SP2 and it's going to rock.
darkshinmoteuchi 3 years ago
3. Tell me this, compare a PC with Linux and Vista with the specs you...
tjasko1 3 years ago
As you said, if you used it with a "better hardware" system, it will be faster.
tjasko1 3 years ago
This is because Vista requires a lot of resources. Everyone can state that fact. The thing is, it shouldn't need that much. This is why Microsoft is working on a OS that will run faster than Vista, Windows 7. And from me looking at Windows 7, it defiantly runs faster.
4. It's called the kernel. ;)
Actually, the kernel in Windows needs to be re-written. Vista is still based upon the NT kernel. Basically, Windows have stuck with the same kernel since the old days. In Windows 7, I believe...
tjasko1 3 years ago
that they did re-write the kernel in it.
That most people should be able to agree upon if...
tjasko1 3 years ago
they do the research on it...
I think that's enough to say... :)

tjasko1 3 years ago
omg, you think that the people of microsoft didn't notice that??? :D
alpenrausch11 3 years ago
Yeah, I noticed it back when XP came out... :D
tjasko1 3 years ago
the reason the operating systems use more RAM is because all they do is just keep adding on to it. that is the reason they have to wipe everything in windows 7.
GShinato 3 years ago
Ubuntu is better than Windows. But, it's not mainly because Microsoft is adding on to Windows. The thing is, they need to think about resources now, not functionality! I'm not saying functionality isn't important, it's just that MS doesn't seem to care much. They're almost forced to redesign the kernel for Windows if they want to get it better.
I hope their boring to redesign Windows 7. Because if they don't change how Windows run, I can assure anyone it will be slower than Vista. :)

I heard Windows 7 is going to be like Vista but with better stuff on it or something
Kind of like how 95 turned into 98 then 2000 NT and finally XP
I don't think XP turned into Vista at all b/c there are way too much difference its kind of like from a different world.
We better just wait till Microsoft intro to Windows 7
Heartagramerz 3 years ago
Actually, I heard that too. But, I hope it will be faster than Vista... :D
tjasko1 3 years ago
I bet the new OS will try to be more like a Mac.
I guess XP will be with me for another few years... since its best for gaming.
I have tried Vista for gaming and it sucks!!
I quickly delted Vista off and put back Windows XP Service pack 3.
Heartagramerz 3 years ago
Every OS copies off each other... You cannot argue that. So, in the long run, every OS has combinations of other ideas in the different OS's... We all copy off each other. But, Vista isn't that bad with gaming now. It was bad a while ago; but it's getting better. :)
tjasko1 3 years ago
not really
Service pack 3 for XP really made XP a bit like Vista plus you can run XP while making it look like Vista and there is a site that lets you download it for free!
No viruses or spywares I have scaned it =)
One good reason why people buy Vista is b/c of Direct X10
Microsoft is sooo cheap about that...
Maybe I'll get Windows 7 or something
Heartagramerz 3 years ago
Yep, that's called the Vista Transformation Pack... :) I've used that too! It's probably the best way to do it. Wow, long time since I've actually used Windows... outside of school.
Actually, there's a way to get DirectX 10 working in XP. I've done it before. Maybe I should do a video of that sometime... But, that's a bit advanced.
I'll look back into using Windows as my main OS once Windows 7 releases. Right now, I'm in my own modified version of Linux... I have been for a long time too. :)

Windows 7, NIGHTMARE.
vangstaz 3 years ago
That's pretty much why. Now, some PC's are not built for XP, and it actually runs slower than Vista... I see that very rarely, but it does happen. :)
tjasko1 3 years ago
I heard that ME was the most buggy OS ever to be used.
Vista is ok just that the cost of certain computer parts needs to go down so people will start getting Vista
7 better be better...
Heartagramerz 3 years ago
we all know that 'booting' has nothing to do with speed...and i love my vista more than my xp. and i love my leopard than more my tiger ^_^
loynie 3 years ago
The boot speed doesn't matter that much. But it is important. I agree with what you say though. I happen to like Vista more than XP, but Leopard more than Tiger. Although I'm waiting for Snow Leopard to come out. That'll be awesome... :)
tjasko1 3 years ago
nice video man! Although I don't agree with everything you said about Vista, as an avid PC-nerd I am impressed.
volcheckt 3 years ago
Well, Vista is a resource hog... One reason why I don't like to use it compared to other OS's. But I do a lot of things with Windows software, so I'm pretty much stuck with Vista... XP doesn't run well on this computer. I'll wait until Windows 7, then I'll see if it's any faster...
tjasko1 3 years ago
your a fag who cares they are smarter then you of course they messed up so they know what to change and they been developing window seven at the same time as vista...

your a FUCKING FAG that's all i gotta say why would you waste your time making a video talking about vista everyone already know but fuck you dont have to make a video also NO ONE CARES.............. and Microsoft knows they fucked up and they will make there change jeez just wait for the new OS and not everyone in the world is geek like you you fucking nerd....

Oh yeah, you also mentioned that they should redesign the kernel. That I agree with you. However, if you haven't used any of the milestones, then you might not know. What is so good about Windows 7 is that the KERNEL version is 7!!!!!!! WOW!
Dojan5 3 years ago
Exactly.
tjasko1 3 years ago
Are YOU a programmer?
Sure, using Linux programs on Mac is possible, IF you use the X11 system. However, porting Mac programs to Linux is NOT the same thing, they use cocoa. And if they would release Tarballs "for people to compile" "people" would have the freaking code! Youre a so stereotypical when it comes to Linux too. Have you programmed it? I doubt that.
Dojan5 3 years ago
I've never coded for OS X. I have done some simple scripting (perl & python) in Ubuntu Linux. I'm not much of a linux coder; but I do understand the programming language, GTk++...
tjasko1 3 years ago
ur saying vista x64 is slow? i heard its fast like xp..
leonzhell 3 years ago
Ohh now; it's actually very fast... I never said it was slow. :)
tjasko1 3 years ago
Yes you do 0.30 in this video "If this is the fastest system I ever used. No, it is actually the slowest out of all of them." I have no problems with Vista, XP goes 1000 times slower on my machine. But then again, it has always been weird.
Dojan5 3 years ago
Ohh, you're talking about that. I'm talking about Vista in general. I never said X64 is slow; I meant that Vista in general is slow. Which, is true; no one can disagree to that. But, Vista X64 and XP X64 are actually very close in all the tests I've done. XP is slower on your machine? That's strange... It's really fast for me; I just don't like having an old OS... One reason why I do not use XP anymore.
tjasko1 3 years ago
And when I said it was the slowest, I was comparing it too all the OS's out there... Compared to Linux, Mac OS X, (the rest of the OS's are pretty much the light weight ones); Vista is a the slowest. When ever I'm in a Unix based OS (like OS X or Linux), it's always faster than Windows. There's no doubt about it. Sorry for your misunderstanding... :)
tjasko1 3 years ago
I disagree about that.
Dojan5 3 years ago
Well, every computer is different. :) There's no doubt about that.
tjasko1 3 years ago
That I am agreeing with 100%.
They are unique and lovely. Now this sounds weird but the fact that the computer is my best "friend" is true...
Dojan5 3 years ago
Here is some statistics for you:
"In 2007, Linux was hacked some 306 thousand times, while Windows 2003 was hacked only 114 thousand times in the most general of terms."
"Overall though, Linux total hacks since 2000 at 1,485,280 against Microsoft Windows 815,119 still shows a staggering trend towards insecure Linux installations " - Zone-H
SuperiorBeen 3 years ago
Actually, I can somewhat agree with you. I honestly think though their going to redo the kernel in Windows 7. If they would, it would run so much faster... It's a bunch of work, but the outcome would be great.
tjasko1 3 years ago
Maybe, but actualy the name Windows 7 comes from the kernel version, which is NT 7.0, since it is still the NT kernel, it likely won't be that different.
They need it re-write the kernel from stractch or make a new one.
platnumX 3 years ago
That's what I mean. Rewriting a kernel... They should just write one awesome kernel, and keep on updating it in the Windows Update client... Like they do with Linux. But no, MS doesn't want to do that. I'm just saying, if they did create a new one; or at least just for Windows 7 (rewriting), Windows would run so much faster... Someday they will. I hope it will be in 2010. :P
tjasko1 3 years ago
2010 when Windows 7 is released. Or at least in the beta version of it... :)
tjasko1 3 years ago
Well I gues we will see then, I honestly hope you are right, I don't use Windows because it's proprietary, but I hope the people do use it have a good expereince.:)
platnumX 3 years ago
I have to use Windows... Because off all the Adobe software I have. It can't all run in Linux under WINE... :) Yes, I hope I'm right too... :D
tjasko1 3 years ago
I just heard that win7 is going to have NT 6.1, so kernel rewrite=impossible, Its a shame.
platnumX 3 years ago
Well, things could change. You never know. Microsoft might change some things. We'll have to wait and see.
tjasko1 3 years ago
Win7 will M$'s final nail in the coffin, the age Open source is coming.
No matter what MS does, unless they fix the kernel(which they won't), Windows will always suck. PERIOD!
platnumX 3 years ago
Maybe in the linux's coffin! Open source means is easier to hack!
SuperiorBeen 3 years ago
Open source does not mean it is easier to hack. What's funny is, Linux is actually hard to hack. Well, harder to hack than Windows. And the funny thing is, people use Linux (many people) to hack other computers. It's a bit ironic if you ask me. But no; open source does not mean it is easier to hack. If anything, it would be harder. Because there's a huge community for Linux, and all the open source OS's.
tjasko1 3 years ago
Just google for "linux server hacked" and see what I mean! Open source means that the hacker has direct acces to the source code of everything, kernel included!
SuperiorBeen 3 years ago
All Kernel's are hackable, open source doesnt make it hackable, open source doesnt mean the coding will be compiled as the same as the open source.
DABhand 3 years ago
I can completely agree with you. It really doesn't matter; everything is hackable now in days... Some way or another.
