  • definitely don't see too many early first generation Ford Escort's around anymore.

  • @Doobie1975 I Saw one the other week. I Really Liked these but there starting to become rare because of Age. I knew someone with a 84 Mercury lynx wagon in baby blue. I Wanted it

  • Not a patch on the UK Escort then! Certainly not in looks anyway. :)

  • @miamad yes good man

  • I don't know WHERE they're getting these MPG figures!! LOL!!

I had 2 of these cars and they got ABOUT 40MPG on the Hiway.

  • @455Transam did you have the diesel?

  • I want each of those Japanese imports.

  • same here....i also notcied they used the 1985 honda accord hatchback...not the sedan!! since the sedan competed with other cars not the escort.....anyways i would also love to have all of those imports....i wouldnt mind an 84 escort either...

  • I have to admit, I chuckled when i saw 46/68 MPG .

  • Ironically, the 2.0 liter diesel engine is Mazda-sourced.

  • 68 MPG LOL maybe rolling down a mountain with the engine off.

  • haha

  • hahahaha

  • @Justchecking78 I doubt that diesel engine is even made by Ford!

  • @talldude123 You're right, the diesel engine was made by Mazda.

  • @Fuji086 I wasn't expecting that!

  • @Justchecking78 I dunno, my 1990 escort got 63.

  • And this Ford Escort will be in the shop for repairs a lot more than ANY of these Japanese imports!!!!!

  • ROFL. Well said!

  • I had a 83' Lunx and it was one of the most reliable cars i have ever owned. My second car was an Isuzu which was nicer.

  • @bigphat200 I had an '84. I agree with what you said about their reliability. I mean, I used mine to go back and forth to work for roughly two months, when it was a little over two decades old. How's that for showing the younguns how it's done? I also took that car where many pickup trucks feared going, and did what they feared doing. However, my little Mercury met it's match in a 2000's model VW Beetle. That damn Bug squashed me!
