HI Tony, Brilliants videos love them all, just a quick question, is the process any different if you were using metalic paint?, many thanks for all your all your effort :)
His bodywork sucks, I have been in the auto body field for more than 16 years, and he is hack. Look at 1:30 - 1:47, the "Bondo" is wavy and pitted real bad. And he talked bad about other people workmanship.
as well, you don't need to sand the basecoat/airbrush paint... it'll give you it's own adhesion for clearcoat. and instead of using a scotch brite ("automotive paint body scuff pads") you can use what is called a tac rag. works better.
@ShamanS08 Same principal but you want an adhesion promoter thats gonna stick to the surface of what your painting (plastic) and primer wont stickt to plastic, for long anyway. Try a product called Bulldog, its an adhesion promoter and I use it a lot when painting plastic bumpers with eurethane and it works very well. I dont know if its available in the UK or not but I would think it would be.
I love how you make ordinary items look cool...and you address the biggest downfall of the average guy trying to paint...PATIENCE!!...and attention to detail...you rock !!
very nice video with very detailed instruction thanks a lot

I was thinking about doing flames like in the "EZ Flames" video on my pc but would it turn out the same as the X-Box?

never spray self-etch primer over body filler... in reality, it's a disaster.

Isn't "adhesion promoter" just a spray to get the paint stuck to the plastic?

Is the "adhesion promoter" simply primer? Sorry I'm from the UK

@ShamanS08 no there are different types of primer.

Try a "Plastic Primer"...most cases you'll get an adhesion promoter. Most of the ones i've found are clear.

Yeah, not my fault... YouTube was gooning up the conversion from WMV to their format. I uploaded in MPG2 and doesn't have the same problem.

after each time you smooth your layer opf primer, with wich product do you clean up the dust before painting it ?
HonKyTanKMaN 2 years ago
Best would be a tack cloth, or if you don't have one, any other lint free towel.
