Ice Nine is a reference to a substance found in Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut (SP?). It's basically an alternate crystal structure of water that has been frozen. It is totally fictional. Ice Nine was their original name, but it was taken. So, since the fictional substance is deadly, they renamed themselves Ice Nine Kills. Awesome band IMHO
