Martha, thanks for the comments. The string was my 10 year old son's idea, you know how that goes. Lucky for me, the box and brown paper just fit. I think a blanket would be too sticky. Tarp would work though.
Love the design, is that duct tape hold it to the plastic rim of bucket? I believe a tarp or a old bed spread would do better to catch the compost, and I would just turn the tumbler by hand not with a string... my 2cents take or leave :-) thanks for sharing this!
The nice part is that very few worms come though the wire. Because of the tumbling action, they tend to roll and roll and not come through the wire.
