hi again :) how bad did the braces made your gap between the jaws? how worse? i know its gradual, but i am only 4 months with my braces and i can really see the difference. i am sorry about my english...its Adi from israel, going to have this done this summer (underbite, mandibular surgery)
@AdiBenUri Mine was already pretty severe so I didn't notice it as much as some, but it can move it quite a bit, depending on where your surgeon needs your teeth for your new bite.
You're getting close to surgery, so just hang in there a bit longer, and your bite should be better than ever!
i need this because my jaw is crooked and i also need surgery on my eyebrow muscle my right eyebrow muscle is pulling down so when i raise both eye brows the top of my head bouncs to one side and i can feel it on the right side pulling downward as the left pulls up
@stacks6969allday Do you know where to get started if interested in this surgery? If not, check out the site and let me know: jawsurgeryblog (DOT) com
Just wanted to thank you for posting your blog and vids. My younger sister and one of my close friends are getting the surgery and I watched some of your vids with them so we could know what's to come in the coming year. Do you have any advice for siblings and friends? I want to help them out as much as i can while they recover. Thanks again :)
PS. you're a trooper for trying to talk after coming back from the hospital.
@kalliopekrash My pleasure, Kalli, and it's awesome that you want to help your sister and friend out. The best thing you can do is just keep their spirits up, keep them positive, and help prepare their food/liquid diet.
Sounds like you'll do a great job helping them out, and they're lucky to have someone that cares like you do.
HI seen ur after video..u look a lot better..just wanted to know by moving your upper jaw forward, and lower jaw back does it make your cheek bones more prominent, speech improve and make your nose look nicer?....In all can it really make you look more attractive? thanks
my brother had to get jaw surgery because his jaw was growing faster than his skull and his jaw was longer and yours is to is that what you mean bye you bite?
wow, it took me 21 years for me to figure out it was my jaw that was keeping me from talking normally
I thought my teeth placement was normal, but it wasn't until one day I tried to align my K-9 teeth and I saw that the other side of my jaw was almost able to touch the back of my front teeth
Man, I want to get sugary but I have 2 issues
1) I just got a new job (like less then a week ago)
2) I'm afraid of complication that might make life 100 times worse
This was before jaw surgery, back in 2007, and yes, if you watch the video, you can see how my teeth only fit together in two places, making biting and chewing extremely inefficient.
If you view some of my more recent videos, you'll be able to see the difference, how all of my teeth fit together now.
was your bite always that bad or did it get worse the nearer it came to the surgery? my orthodontist said that my bite is gonna get much worse before the surgery. did yours change abruptly?? please reply thanks :)
hi sarah, it definitely got a little worse prior to surgery, because the braces align your teeth for your NEW bite, not your current one, but my bite was already so bad, and the change was so gradual, it didn't make a huge difference.
hey im getting 4 teeth removed and my orthodontist said that my face will change and im worried about my face changing.... well does it really change your face ?
I don't have much experience with getting teeth removed, unless they are your wisdom teeth? But I've never heard of having those removed as changing your face.
feel like such a creeper... yah you look a lot better with your hair cut ;) fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk did it hurt lol:P i have to get it... so not stoked for it:P
I had my surgery on October 30, 2007. I have a tiny spot under my lip on the left that still tingles every once in a while, but not enough to even notice most of the time, and no completely numb spots at all.
It took about 3 months to get where I could comfortably eat again, about 6 before I barely noticed it anymore, and a few more months before it was gone completely.
I know this is the old you. All I can say is that I had grown out my hair previous to my jaw surgery. I cut it off a few days before surgery. Once I had my upper and lower jaw surgery I began to se the new me. I LOVED MY RESULTS. It was real similar to yours. Except my lower jaw grew to one side instead of just the inside teeth. To this day I have have not a single pain or complaint. Thank God. It feels good man. This was over a year ago also.
Thanks, and yes, I was wired shut for 5 weeks, but depending on the severity of the surgery, some don't have to be wired shut at all, like you said.
Yeah, I'd definitely at least do a photo log, even if it's just for yourself, it's fun to look back and watch the process. I initially made all of these videos just for myself, friends, and family, then decided to release them later when I realized how helpful they could be.
Hey Great Video ... I am having the same surgery done on aug 4 kinda scared .....what day were you able to leave the house or were you mobile walking around etc ,,,without feeling sick
The first week, you'll probably want to stay in as much as possible to rest and recover. I did this for about two weeks, and after that, it's completely up to you whenever you feel ready to "face" the world, haha.
Depending on the extent of your surgery, you could have significant swelling for up to a month or more, and being wired shut can make communicating a little more difficult.
LOL thank for the quick reply, "face" the world looool. I wont have a choice, i am suppose to be going in to the nypd in july. Thats why i wanted to know how fast you were able to really start moving. I know it might not look pretty but i was talking from a physical aspect lol.
Haha, yeah, you should be up and moving around in a week or two, but if you're going to be kicking butt and taking names with the NYPD, you may need a little longer.
I didn't start doing any strenuous activity for several weeks, because the surgeon said too much strain could open the wounds in your mouth again.
Good luck again and you'll be looking pretty AND kicking butt in no time!
Hello, I was curious to know if disability covered your time away from work? If you worked at the time that is. Thank you :)

JaneyRichards 2 years ago
@JaneyRichards Thanks Janey! Yes, it does move the cheek bones more prominent, and the amount obviously depends on the amount of movement.
For me, I didn't notice much difference in my speech or nose, but the improvement in chewing and eating has been phenomenal!
If you have any other questions, just let me know.

I lost 15 pounds in the first 7 days, then I went on to lose about 20-25 overall.

Duude. im getting this in 7 days from today, major stuff is going on for me too, they are moving my cheekbones too. ahh.
Im freaking out.
cklpunk 2 years ago
Haha, don't worry, freaking out is totally normal, I did it too, but everything will be over before you know it.
Just be sure to follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter, and you'll do great!
Let me know if you have any questions along the way, and good luck!

Thanks, I saw your other surgery and wow. you look good. I don't know what to expect.
did you have your jaw wired shut when you woke up from the surgery? apparently i wont have to.
Thanks for the words of wisdom. a lot of people have told me it will be fine, but coming from a veteran of war :P it helps a lot.
I'm thinking of doing a V-log, but im not really a talker. maybe just photo log it throughout and compile a slideshow at the end of it all.

did u bulk up to gain some more weight before the surgery
knightprovx1000 2 years ago
Yeah, I put on about 5-10 pounds, but if I could do it again, I may have tried closer to 15, since I ended up losing so much after surgery.
Thanks to muscle memory though, it's easy and fast to regain lean mass as soon as you're able to work out again.
