I hate the Mercedes Benz play of the week intro. It's way too long, and it's annoying, especially the boy fist pumping. His teeth are awful. I wonder if he is embarrassed to this day for ending up on that stupid tape, lol.
It seems as though Nadal slowed down his game a bit, comparing to previous years (probably for the sake of his knees/health). Look how fast he was here, covering absolutely every single part of the court, and running for each ball as if it was a match point.. Certainly, a style of play that takes a hard toll.
20 km/hour...not impossible, of course, we gotta count also the quickening... he made the ball go on the other court too...that's the why he's the number one! (sorry for my english)
@NadalPower no simply no he isn't the fastest look how he started running to the ball LONG BEFORE Davydenko volley it ... Nadal is just the best in anticipating the ball ...
its fun to watch him play, but everytime when i look at his facial expressions when he plays its like "u suck and i will beat u 6-0 6-0 u bastard " ^^

This is exactly why he is injured. Reckless form. Once I saw him for the first time, I knew that he would become one of the best in the world, but only for a short while because that shoulder and also his knees will not last him. You can't beat age with raw power. That is why Fed is number one. He's pretty old too and can't run. Fed constructs the point expertly and executes it. Amazing run by Nadal though.Legendary player for about 5 years. Age takes its toll.
Great video! And for all of those who think that Nadal cannot reach the level that Federer has, Nadal is 24 years old, Federer is 28. Nadal has time...
nadal is younger, but i doubt he can actually play tennis for as long as federer will.
think about it. federer is 28, and he has never missed a slam or retired from a match, Nadal is 24 and he's already missed 2 slams (australian open 06 and wimbledon 09) and retired countless times from injuries
nadal is a great player, but i doubt he can stay fit till 30. his body is really falling apart lately
federer pulled out before a match against james blake in paris masters 2008 due to back problems... once! he never retired mid-match
nadal has retired countless times already, pre-match or mid-match
if time is really in favor of any player, its federer. nadal's results have been less than satisfactory against top 10 players lately, and we all know why... the knees
its crazy to think even so hes still playing 5 clay tournaments this year, i'm not sure if he cares about his body
Nadal's game matches up "perfectly" to Federer's. All of his strengths go right to Fed's weaknesses. All of Fed's strengths go right to Nadal's strengths. Hard heavy kicking topspin forehand to single one-handed backhand. Phenomenal defender vs. the artist.
Federer is the greatest player of all time PERIOD. Nadal is one of the best of his generation. His game just happens to match up well against Fed. Wayne Ferreira had a winning record against Sampras but does that make him better??? No
Your are missing the point, who cares if ferreira led sampras in the head to head. What it matters is the importance of the occasion. In all their match only once did they meet in a final and that was minor tournament lyon, the rest are first or second rounds and 4 quarters. Focusing only the big tournaments Sampras leads by 5-2. Those numbers pale when comparing FedvsRaf. After 20 encounters only once did they meet in a tournament inferior to a Masters, and in all but two did they meet in fina
Yet nadal leads by a extraordinary substantial margin. When looking only into the majors, the only way Roger likes to compare with anyone, then it gets even more ridiculous 5 - 2 only finals and 6 -2 in a total GS encounters. And yet thisi is even more astonishing having played in three different surfaces. I challange you to find any other great rivalry that lopsided in the records of the atp. I think its extraordinay. And come on, this can not be put down simply beacause rafas game matches RF
We are talking about a match up in which one the palyers is considered the best player of all time, and yet the head to head is lopsided. Yet you still consider Rafa just one of the best players of his genaration, I think thats an understatement. A historic 85 winning streak on clay can not be confinned to just a great player, the guy is already a living legend but so is Roger
if they both play their best, i still think federer would beat nadal. nadal wouldnt be able to get close to feds serve as it is unreadable. on top of that, fed backhand would (remember if they both played their best) stand up all the time to nadals spin. when nadal plays his best it is- get every ball back and stay mentally intense. when federer plays his best it is shots that are inhuman that no one (including nadal) would get back. thats imo
when nadal plays at he´s best he normaly wins everyone as he had the speed that helps him! and if the rival is playing very good and nadal is returning all balls! that affects you mentaly! like ''wtf do i have to do to get a point with out he returning the ball!!!''
@ArjanK1206, he whas Number two for 4 years and ppl talked more about him than Roger. Roger is A Legend ofc, but Remember who won most matches against each other? cant exactly remember but its whas something like 6-12 for Nadal and that alot :O? Nadal is already legend his name will be remembered for generations as same as federer.
stop speaking about the strange mono think that federer had.. think it wasn't so bad, he could have never play about 5 hours in wimbledon if it was sooo bad
.. maybe.. but i think the fact that he became more and more better on hardcourt ruined his knees.. clay is not that bad for the knees but the hardcourt.. especially if you are a player that wants to get EVERY ball.. but rafa comes back and he will win this years FO :)
@s3vv4 Ich jogge so schnell, wenn auch keinen Marathon lang. 15 km/h sind zügiges Joggen, aber bei weitem nicht "rennen", da ist die doppelte geschwindigkeit kein problem.
@ofuhunter probably double that!! proffessional athletes would do about 8 or 9 meters a second!! world record 100m pace is just over 10 meters a second!!
@ugoboy645 WOW ? so i'm 15 year old and i'm proffessional athlete ? i know that i run fast but ? that fast i run 50 meters for 6 sec. so that means that i'm running a little over 8 m/s ..
@mechkapechka thats fast but at 15 you wouldn't be able to keep that pace for very long!! it will take a lot of training till your able to do that pace for 3 hours straight like these guys do!!! but its also not just about the pace....you have to be able to execute the skill of the shot while running at that pace.....thats what separates the professionals from the amateurs!! a few people might have got to that ball but only a few people in the world have the skill to pull of that shot as well!!
@ugoboy645 I train usually 3-4 hours and play 4-5 training sets and i keep my pace if you are saying that i don't have stamina but the execution of the ball is that thing that i can make it but oh... well i can't like top 100
@mechkapechka are you saying you're as good as these guys??? there's a reason nadal is number 1 in the world with 9 grand slams to his name....nobody else can pull of these shots consistently like he does!! apart from federer when he was in his prime!!
no way!! there's no way he could've reach that ball.. at the replay.. you see davydenko making that volley.. and nadal is still at the base line.. damnn
listen thereallyajy, I want u to realize the difference between Mario Ancic and Roger Federer regarding that mon sickness. Mario Ancic is not the same player as he was before even before the sickness. Federer's not gonna stop playing like Mario did they both had the same infection. I had mono, there's no such thing as having a mild case of it like a little cough. It makes u completely weak and Federer was still able to come through. Ancic didnt have to worry about his ranking like Roger did.
Will you STOP about this MONO sickness?? MARIO ANCIC has MONO....Federer had a mild case of it. Federer in spite of that 'terrible' illness in 2008 managed to get to THREE finals in the major tournaments...semi finals in the other. He just got beat ON THAT DAY BY A PLAYER WHO BELIEVED IN THE VICTORY. Federer didnt lose...Nadal won...Get over it
wow pacodemic I'm a fan of Federer and Nadal, but your totally wrong about the Nadal's win against Federer in wimbeldon. That was probably Federer's worst year. 2008 he only won 1 grand slam wen he averages about 3 a year. And he still got to the semis or better in each grand slam in 2008 even when he had that mono sickness. Get your facts straight.
Infectious mononucleosis your right ok.... but Nadal was also in the finals in 2007 and lost in 5 sets... and well if you think federer had a weak year in 2008 he was in the semi-finals in melbourne, he was in the paris finals, he was in the wimbledon finals and he won the us-open..i would like to have a weak year like this :-)
I dont really like clay court tennis, and i dont like 2 handed backhands,BUT Nadal is just unbelievable, and such a nice guy, always showing respect for his opponents, always fair,
always fighting to the last point, never giving up.
He beat Federer in Wimbledon, where Federer is almost unbeatable.
He broke Villas impossible clay record, he is one of the greatest ever, no matter how many grand slams he won.
And he doesnt start crying when he loses against a better player, like the Oberwiler.
@pacodemic Lol you rule, by the way, more importantly he beat Mcenroe's record which nobody really comments on, mcenroe had the longest winning streak on any surface some 77 consecutive indoor/carpet wins and rafa actually broke that record in Rome I believe, and im sure that was the same place he broke Vilas record, I dont remember, but Im pretty sure rome 07 against Davydenko SF was where he broke Jmacs record and Rome 06 against the bitch was where he broke vilas. Both times he struggled too!
@pacodemic Nadal's backhand is his greatest strength. That tool has set him apart.. he does with his backhand similar things that his forehand can do. And coincidentally that's Federer's biggest weakness.
I think Federer does better shots, and has a better forehand, but since his backhand isn't as fast as nadals it really hurts him. THough he can likely get a lot mroe cut on his hits than nadal can. When i see them play nadal he just hits to the back hand (BH), and it's feder's BH vs Nadal.
@jilow i think, nadals strenght isnt a forhand or a backhand or a single shot, its rather his unbelievable mental and physical strenght... these top 10 guys are ALL technically close to perfection ... (in my opinion)... but you are right.. nadals backhand is a killer too
He...he was over there...and then...he just kind of levitated over there. When the camera slows down the play from court level, you look at Nadal, and then it pans over to the ball, and the ball is already dropping for it's second bounce when Nadal is on the service line. Then he just kind of appears in the view and...wtf man...just, wtf.
i dk if there is a best point. surely it should be nadal decent or above average point.or something like that.there is no categorical best point ever. too big a claim

Rafa has matured a lot. It's time he's shifted forwards. And I'll be honest I prefer his current look.

listen thereallyajy, I want u to realize the difference between Mario Ancic and Roger Federer regarding that mon sickness.

David51493 2 years ago

And he doesnt start crying when he loses against a better player, like the Oberwiler.
pacodemic 2 years ago 56
Yes Federer is a bit of a crybaby, but Nadal is going to wear out, his body is deteriorating, you can already see from all his knee problems

When i see them play nadal he just hits to the back hand (BH), and it's feder's BH vs Nadal.
jilow 1 year ago
@jilow i think, nadals strenght isnt a forhand or a backhand or a single shot, its rather his unbelievable mental and physical strenght... these top 10 guys are ALL technically close to perfection ... (in my opinion)... but you are right.. nadals backhand is a killer too
pacodemic 1 year ago
@pacodemic actually, he admitted to crying after losing to federer at wimbledon in 2007

@pacodemic well, Nadal is known for being excellent on clay courts and adding tremendous spins with each shot which is like icing on cake

Good thing the court was clay, otherwise he probably wouldn't have made that final shot
