This is damn good, considering he can't fully move his mouth anymore and between say... 74-82 when he was his heaviest and he was being forced to perform with the Beach Boys again on the road and whatnot, his voice was totally HORRIBLE. He couldn't even get through "Dont Worry Baby" without adlibbing into a lower LOWER octave he could tolerate. And now, in his late 60s, he could sing songs like this in their original key with a majority of success. So I'd say he's come up a lot since :)
CreationArtist: So, have you ever written a beautiful or timeless song such as God Only Knows? Go dream on and continue to insult the truly gifted, which is something you will never be.
In answer to the previous posts. Fact is, these greats from the 60s and 70s just don't have the voices anymore and I include Roger Daltrey, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant etc. It doesn't matter - their writing is wat has lasted and they're treasures that should be on display while we have them - for inspiration.
I've seen him do a lot of OCD kinds of things at shows. He checks his watch, checks the buttons on his shirt, brushes the hair out of his eyes when there is no hair there. It's just Brian.
Let's all stop pretending he doesn't sound horrendous. He was fucking brilliant, but he sounds like shit now. And I'm a huge beach boys fan, so don't try and school me..
@lizardking067 Brian actually lost his voice for a few years, when he was heaviest. He was smoking about 6 packs of cigs a day!! He has since gotten his voice back - to a degree. We should all feel honored that he still has it in him to share himself with us. He doesn't have to, ya know? He could just sit back and comfortably retire, but he chooses not to. His whole life has centered around music. He is a brilliant man at what only he can do... make music to soothe the soul. Thank you Brian!
