But I was just wondering about when you mention that faith is "evidence of things unseen" and that "faith provides the proof". But faith means precisely the opposite of this, i.e. believing in something without any evidence or proof.

@philipdevlin69 Hey - it's a line from the Bible. It basically means that the object of the faith (God) can only be proven by the faith itself. It really only works for those who have faith, so it can kinda be circular, but for me, it captures it nicely. Thanks for your feedback!

I love your delivery. It's clean and unpretentious. Sometimes writers can get overly theatrical in their delivery and have you react to the performance aspect of their writing rather than the content.

@lonegroover So, the whole part about toleration and not presuming to dictate beliefs to any person, you disagree? You'd rather belittle those who believe instead of simply respectfully disagreeing? If you had actually listened to the poem, the point is that faith exists despite a lack of evidence, or even the presence of contrary evidence. If you don't share that, I respect that, without childish name calling, because I am sure of myself. The more you rail and whine, the more shaky you seem.

I think your point about railing and whining is probably right, and it's telling that your own remarks are substantially more characteristic of these activities than mine. If you found a drawing or a photo lying in the street, you would conclude without question that an artist created it by virtue of the face that pictures dont spontaneously create themselves. ok on content: Are you really willing to accept divine intervention? If you write because God gives you words that has pretty bad consequences... for one it means we don't have free will. If we don't have free will no one is obliged to take responsibly for their actions which is a dangerous and irresponsible place to end up...
Thanks for your feedback - I don't believe that my actions are orchestrated, but I am blessed with a gift that I did not create and I cannot take credit for. I do believe in free will, and I choose to listen and allow a message to flow through me. I agree that when people blame their actions on God, it's very irresponsible. But that doesn't mean I don't feel his presence and influence.

That was really wonderful. It's hard to explain faith...and I run into that problem a lot in my encounters with people who are close to me who believe differently. Nice, very nice. I think the strenght and power that the poem transmits, tells more abouth faith than the actual words... Dunno if I can make myself clear... ;)

That was really wonderful. It's hard to explain faith...and I run into that problem a lot in my encounters with people who are close to me who believe differently. I appreciate your words and thank you for this. I especially like the part about tolerating different beliefs. Religion doesn't change a person, but having faith seems to give them more strength.
