Don't know what all this 'blabber and blather' is about I'm a dipshit w/a belt or whatever,,,,THIS GUY ROCKS./ Listen and learn, read, move on. be here now and STFU. Fuck the upper 1% crust and Dubbers 3 tax cuts of 400 billion per year paid for by some 'com mie bankster'. BLOW ME!
The release this week of yet another survey indicating the more you watch Fox News the less they know, has once again shone a spotlight on one of the unique features that defines Rupert Murdoch's cable news outlet - it is very, very good at misinforming people. And it's very bad at reporting the news. In other words: Propaganda? Yes. News? Not so much
What's stunning is how many different areas of the news and public policy Fox viewers are misinformed
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The subject of this video, while clearly more articulate than the reporter interviewing him, is no more compelling than anyone else representing the "Occupy" movement. All he did was vaguely conspiratorial accusations against "Big Corporations" and snark about "Conservative Media," while calling for more "Jesus Stuff" and complaining about health care as a business. Bottom line: This guy doesn't have a rational viewpoint, all he's got is a grudge.
Why is it that there so many stupid people on the right? There was even a study that came out last week that prove fox news viewers are dumb and dont know current events. When ask questions they just repeat talking points from fox news personality. Then you have all the crazy silly things the clowns running have been saying. Michelle thinking Libya was in the middle east. Rick S. thinking Africa is a country. Cains meltdown on Libya and Perry un able to name a program he wanted to cut. Idiots!!
@b7r7u7c7e What do liberals do? Oh thats right beat around th bush and avoid answering questions. Lets see how the liberals stack up? Obama thinks theres 57 states, Joe biden told a senator in a wheel chair to stand up, hilary clinton said this while introducing a quote by Gandhi- He ran a gas station down in St. Louis no, Mahatma Gandhi was a great leader of the 20th century. Now whos the idiots? Liberals
@mike12703 Im not saying people dont say silly things our make mistake. For example the right has to go ALL the way back to 08 when Obama was tired. In almost 4 years thats best they can do. When Bush has a high light reel of things hes said in the first month of his first term! lol Biden and Hillary were mistakes not things they believed in. lol There is a difference. Asking someone to stand up is different then thinking you can pray away the gay or that Obama was not born here! lol
@mike12703 Lol Wow is that the best you can do? I think your talking about yourself. I speak on facts not silly things that are not true. Its a fact for example that the republicans field is weak and according to polls the public thinks the GOP views are extreme. It was reported yesterday according to gallup that not only is Obama beating the right, not only is he more well liked and trusted, he is the most admired. These are facts that you can check! lol Your guys suck and are clowns! lol
@b7r7u7c7e Well first ill start off by saying that im 15 so of course i live with my mom. Secondly, Obama is not trusted or well liked. He socialized medicine so now everyone who pays taxes is basically paying for some slut or some other dumbass to run around having abortions like its birth control. Then he went and bombed libya without congressional approval. He basically screwed our relationship with the United Kingdom after completely ruining the traditional meeting with the Prime Minister.
@mike12703 Your a young idiot. My little brother whos 13 showed me some polls at real clear politics(A website that average all polls) that show Obama is more liked and more trusted then anyone in the GOP. His personal approval is 70%! And your telling me I dont know what I'm talking about? We dont have socialized medicine. You got that confused with Bush government run program medicaid. And you only need congressional approval if you declare war dummy. BTW wasent done with Iraq! Your dumb 4 15.
@b7r7u7c7e Wow obviously you still dont know when to shut the fuck up. Obama signed a bill that socialized medicine taking effect in 2012. You are a complete dumbass. It is PROVEN that bush did get congressional permission to deploy soldiers into Iraq. Who admires Obama? Racist, socialist, scumbags? No, Libya was not a NATO operation. It was an operation seeked out by Obama without congressional approval. If a president decided to seek an operation over seas he must get congresssional approval.
@mike12703 Again you are wrong and its funny how stupid you are. Socialized health care would be if the government FORCED you to take it dummy. All this plan does is make health care insurance more affordable. It make it easier to deal with your Doctor without insurance companies getting in the way. But if you like your plan you keep it. lol Btw it goes into effect in 2013 idiot. And Libya was a NATO operation. Its on record. WOW you dont know shit about anything. You have to be a drop out! lo
@mike12703 One other thing you are wrong again on the Iraq war. Bush did not ask for congress to declare war in Iraq. We went to war with Iraq, and only congress can declare war! And the president has the power to send troops anywhere in the world for 90 days. Then he has to go to congress for money. And if the GOP felt like you did all they had to do was stop the funding, they control the house so they control the money! lol There just pissed cause Obama didnt get our troops killed like Bush.
@b7r7u7c7e First of all yes he did even before he sent our troops out he got congresses approval look it up. Somebody must watch a lot of CNN. Obama got a shit load of our soldiers killed. He gave them shit supplies such as there wapons jamming more than ever(onoly happenning when obama was president), they didn't get what they needed. Obama is a sick basterd. Anyone who follows him is too. Notice how you dropped everything you said before Just to talk shit about Bush. To bad your wrong.
@mike12703 Congress did not declare war on Iraq. This is a fact. Anytime we send our troops in peace we have to inform Congress because they control the purse. But your main point was war. War in Libya. I corrected you by stated the President of the United states can send our troops anywhere for 90 days then he has to ask for congress to fund it. Thats all. He didnnt need a declaration because it was under NATO. I didnt drop anything just correcting the fact that we were protecting the rebels.
@b7r7u7c7e no i never said we went to war with libya i said that Obama bombed them without getting permission from congress. The UN doesn't mean shit its filled with ant-american assholes. Obama is the one who also decided what gets to the soldiers if he wants he can cut it off. Bombing libya was a huge mistake because now the terrorists blocked off a lot of the passage ways to our oil drilling spots. If we drilled in America that wouldn't be a problem.
@mike12703 You linked Libya with War by saying the President needs permission. Permission meaning a declaration of war. That is how our checks and balance works. The President can conduct military action but only for 90 days. Thats why after 90 days we stopped using our war planes, but let other nation use our aircraft carriers, technology. On the ground we use CIA, Special Ops to locate targets and train rebels. And who gives a shit what they do with there country. That wasent or objection. lol
@mike12703 As for our men and women there have never been a time in history they didnt get what they needed or battle. It was during the Iraq war that soldiers were complaining about having bad vest. Mothers would spend extra money to send there sons and other soldiers better vest. When the Bush people found this out they sent out better armor. Under Obama soldiers got better up to date vehicles. As for jamming what do you want. The M4 and M41 is standard. In the desert there gonna jam dummy.
@b7r7u7c7e your the dumb one i've been around guns my whole life the desert would make them jam? your a fucking dumbass. Ive dropped many of my guns in mud and dirt an nothing happens your the dumb one
@mike12703 I was in the military dumb ass! And anyone will tell you they jam! Your a fuckin idiot and you lie about everything. Your comparing dirt with sand? lol M16 M4 and m41 jam. If you get them in mud or in sand they jam! Thats why we always had to clean them in Iraq! OMG your a dumb fuck. And its not because of age. I know kids 13, 14 and 15 there are very smart, and well educated. In fact the reason why Special forces use the Hk416 is because they dont jam. They have bigger parts. IDIOT!
@b7r7u7c7e you definatly were not in the military take your endoctrinated lies some place else phsyco pathic basterd if i knew you id beat the shit out of you for lieing about being in the military. Bigger parts dont have shit to do with it. you dont have a gun cause your liberal, you were not in the military cause your a liberal. But you are a complete asshole cause your liberal. I've been shooting guns since i was 3 i would know fucking cock face
@mike12703 Liberal dont have guns? lol Lmao! Listen dummy compared to an AR15/M16/M4 the AK47/AKM/AK74 is extremely reliable. They require very little maintenance to keep functioning. They're tolerant of dust, dirt, water, etc... They're not perfect but compared to the competition, the AK47/AKM/AK74 is much more reliable. That's why it is the weapon of choice for illiterate, barely-trained conscripts, guerrilla fighters, etc... from some of the world's worst environments for the last 63 years.
@mike12703 By the way i'm 64' 245 a black belt in judo. I run an MMA school in California. Trust your little punk ass wouldnt do shit. Getting back to facts guns to jam when sand gets in them you fucking idiot. There are countless videos of people in the police force, Swat, and Special Forces that complain about this. So you are an idiot. Just look up HK416 vs M4 and it will show you the M4 carbine jams while the 416 dosent because they use some tehnology from the Ak47 dumb ass. lol
@b7r7u7c7e did i ever say i was gonna beat the shit out of you? im a blue belt in tae kwon do im 5'10 and 165 pounds think im scared of you? ive fought people 6'5 and 320 pounds. the funny thing is that you said "liberals dont have guns. lmao" well whats you response on that? cause they don't. i never said the ak 47 jams. i said the M4s and M16s do. the ak 47 barely ever jams ive been around guns probably almost as long as you've been fucking your fat whore mother
@mike12703 Copy and paste were I said libs dont have guns. I never said that. You said that idiot. I was responding to you saying guns dont jam from dirt/sand which is false. Being in the military we were told to always clean or weapons because they jam from dirt and sand. You can also find youtube vids that conform this. Thats why I said the HK416 was modeled after the AK to insure durability. Again there is youtube vidz showing gunners testing this. So everything you said was bullshit. lol
@b7r7u7c7e obviously fucking guns jam from dirt and sand wtf they jam from powder residue built up to wtf is your point. you obviously cant fucking read crack head california mother fucker. did you read that while you were on acid or something? you werent in the army cause joining takes real balls which you dont have your a pussy mr judo teacher 30 year old pedofile asswipe
@mike12703 "Ive dropped many of my guns in mud and dirt an nothing happens your the dumb one..." This is what you said idiot. First you say they dont then you say they do? lol Make up your mind. Its clear and I proved on every subject you dont know what the fuck your talking about. Has nothing to do with age because I know boys and girls 14 years old that are very smart and know there shit. NOT YOU! Your a moron. Ive had them read the things you said and they laughed there asses off! Poor fuck
@mike12703 Further more its not about watching CNN. The bills are online.lol Thats why the things you say are so stupid. For example you keep saying we went to war with Libya. lol We did not. Under the UN and with the force of NATO we acted to protect the rebels. Thats why Obama didnt need a declaration of war. lol "Shit supplies" Its the pentagon and generals on the ground that makes sure solider get what they need. lol In libya no US killed. Iraq 5,000 men and women killed, 30,000 wounded.
@b7r7u7c7e He also completely DESTROYED our nations allie-ship with Israel. The ONLY democracy in the middle east. The ONLY country in the middle east not bent on the destruction of the United States of America. Sir, I'd like to say it was challenging to make you look like a complete un-informed moron but, it wasn't. Have nice day being a dumbass and go read a newspaper.
@mike12703 Do you get your info from your right wing parents? Because you sound like those idiots at fox news. Some things you are WRONG on. If Obama is so bad why would he get most admired in the Time Poll? His personal approval is higher then anyone on the right. If this is not so site the poll were it show otherwise. Another correction Libya was a Nato operation that gave Obama 6 months befour he could ask congress for more money. Iraq was a war that didnt get congress approval. lol
Now we need to set up indoors an anti-corporate-dominance-of-our-government 'think tank' devoted to nothing but thinking about all the fronts we can launch hard boiled tactics to affect legislative change, and street level pocketbook actions.
We should establish these think tanks in each countries capital and communicate our strategies with one another.
We're gonna kick corporate control of our world right in the balls.
Finally our cities have been liberated from the occupiers. Today is a great day for humanity because our government institutions finally stood up to the violent intimidation tactics being used by Obama and the OWS protesters.
@rhinohippo You know, you guys make yourselves look pretty ridiculous with these left-over Archie Bunkerisms from the 70s. You need to update your rhetoric a little. I actually heard one of you old geezers yell, "America, love it or leave it!" a couple of weeks ago. Haven't had an original, new thought since Vietnam?
@friendlier Okay smart guy tell me an original line from the right. lol I bet you got a million. The fact is when you look at technical advances in music/movies, software & internet companies its the left thats been forward thinking. When it comes to social networking, and setting trends its the left leading the way while the right have been stuck in the past. And get your facts strait, the America love it or leave it line was said by the Tea party all the time! lol But again tell me a new line.
I say "Let the middle class shrink" the only reason American's have had it so good is because they have been sucking the governments tit for 60 years. Look at China-there's no middle class there and yet they have become the super power of the planet. They have surpassed the US by hard work, not government handouts. I will work with my brothers Cantor, Boehner, and Paul Ryan to end all handout programs and encourage tax breaks for job creators.
Fuck the phrases liberals and conservatives they are made up by this country to make it look like free speech, it doesn't exist , oh typical libral trying to bash conservative stfu already people and realize that this country and the world is run on greed and all ethical situations are looked at for the means and not the ends
he completely avoids the first question, does not give obama the fair amount of blame that he deserves, he is just like every other person at occupy wall street he hates the rich and and wants government to be the answer to everything "jesus stuff", this "movement" is a joke and he is more of an embarrassment for it than anything, and i love how he says the republicans want to destroy the middle class. typical idiot liberal obama supporter
@fenderamr2222 Yes because Obama is a bad president etc. but unless you're blind and def you'd have noticed this movement isn't about fucking Obama now is it? What's it about? Well apparently it's about the rising level of segregation between the poor and the rich, about how the economy is not being handled by the traders and banks with the health of the nation in mind, and how the job market is still barren despite all that touting by both democrats and repoblicans on rich people creating jobs.
@OfficeThug hahaha i didnt even say obama was a bad president word for word, and yes i know it is about the gap between the rich and the poor. "Well apparently it's about the rising level of segregation between the poor and the rich...". This is what every one there has in common: they just want the rich to be taxed more. That won't solve anything. You can't bring the bottom up by bringing the top down. Besides, what is your definition of wealthy? Obama's definition is those who make $250,000+
@fenderamr2222 How will taxing the rich not solve anything, when they sit on enough stale capital to pay off the US' debt in full? They have huge amounts of money in personnal accounts and assets with the express purpose of hoarding money. These trillions will never see the light of day or change hands again. It will not go into expanding their companies or even into buying luxuries. It is completely ripped apart from the US economy, and you wonder where all your national wealth has gone.
@OfficeThug There are a lot of small business owners who make that much money and don't use private jets or limos etc. Do you consider obama's defintion of wealthy that? That is just capitalism my friend, and if there was a flat tax and the termination of the FED then this would all be solved. From my job I have first hand experienced capitalism and how it works and its benefits. If you want the federal government to tax the rich more, then I guess you are okay with lot of government interventio
@OfficeThug By the way, how about you blame primarily DC instead of wall street for the mess, I mean hey DC is the source of the money (bailouts) for Wall Street. And as for all the people who feel sorry for those who lost their homes to the bank, how about you realize what personal responsibility is all about. If you can't afford a big house, THEN DON'T TAKE A LOAN ON IT YOU CAN'T PAY BACK !
@fenderamr2222 They were told they would be able to repay the debts. What they weren't told is that the banks would later sell those mortgages as assets and then bet against those mortgages to hike up the prices to an unpayable level.
The enemy here is the banks and traders. They're the reason why commoditties are becoming unafordable. They are buying and betting against necessities to hike up the prices so they make more pittance in their shrewd trades, and we need to stop them.
The Tea parties are patriotic Americans defending the Constitution and the Founder’s vision. The Tea Party will be the real counter revolution to the intrusive government. The OWS movement of cradle-to-grave welfare state is un-American.
Solandra is not nonsense... its a half a Million dollars of our hard earned taxes down the wasteful liberal progressive rat-hole! As usual wherever you find wasted tax-$, you find liberals, Democrats & Progressives Civil Justice crooks wasting our country.
The end of his comments were just SO so good. I loved the Bill of Rights thing, right up to the Salandra blast on Fox. - Classic! He's THIS elections "Joe the Plumber! - I mean, lets get this guy out there!
Sigh, this was once a splendid NYC that I would visit every summer for vacation. Now it's occupied by grasping filth known as wall street protesters. Will our beautiful capitalist country ever be the same?
@tonyxBAx Leave the country now. Your comment is offensive - my family created this country literally - and I support these protesters one hundred percent. Splendid NYC what planet do you live on the worst place I have ever been next to Los Angeles! The corporate bail outs were stunning. I have never seen a president hand is buddies a bunch of cash with no strings atached straight out of the pocket of taxpayers. This is the most logical protest in decades. To the ignorant and dishonest - bye !
reporter: 'you wouldn't be able to get your message out without us.' IS HE KIDDING? As he seen uh, youtube, as he heard of twitter and fb? The age of mainstream media's monopoly on information dissemination is over.
This guy never made a single concrete point in this entire rant. Sure, he bashed fox news, which probably deserves it, but at what point did he make a coherent, logical argument?
These guys should be protesting at the doors of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke's residence, Paulson's residence, as well as Chis Dodds and Barney Franks legislation leading to further economic decline. These guys were the master minds behind the mismanagement of the financial collapse. Not Wallstreet. WallStreet is just a market, a point of sale. The products were corrupted by the above mentioned before they even reached the market (wall street).
The crisis actually started in 1979 with the CRA act. Pushing creditors and mortgage companies to lower credit standards. This guy didnt mention that the Federal government forced even harder in the years leading up to the financial meltdown for mortgage companies to lower credit standards even further...creating worthless mortgage and bond products. The fed also foced WS to trade and sell these worthless products and mortages. He should also thank the Dodd-Frank act for further eco colapse
Fox news is the propoganda channel, they support christians who believe that health care for all is bad...they want you to believe that a tax on millionaires will kill jobs while people who make the poverty level are riding high on the hog...WTF
CAPITALISM creates ELITE CRIMINALS. UNSECURITY. UNEQUALITY. GREED. RUTHLESS COMMUNISM. TERRORISM. LAZY PEOPLE. DRUG LORDS. REBEL POLITICIAN. ANARCHY. worst is WAR etc.. etc..
CAPITALISM was designed only for CORRUPT OPPORTUNISTIC MANIPULATIVE LAZY POLITICIAN. LAWYERS. BANKERS. DRUG LORDS. MAGGOT SOCIALITES. CRIMINALS. DICTATORS. RULERS. KING. SULTANATE. EMPEROR etc. etc..
HARD WORKING PEACE LOVING HAPPY HONEST SOCIETY were always the slave victim and poorly starve to death. :(
The story to date: a bunch of clueless, jobless, worthless parasites are "occupying" small sections of cities and proving that US education is a dismal failure. They decry corporations while using all the products made by corporations. If they truly believed their own crap, they'd all have walked to the sites, and they'd be there naked without all their corporation-made designer clothes and electronic toys. What ignorant, hypocritical brats. Spank them and send them to bed without supper.
@DocDoom777 I would rethink parasite. It makes you one too, just to be a part of the system. Did you create it? Do you think you would get anywhere if you walked around naked? So many of my friends who have college degrees are tens of thousands of dollars in debt where are their jobs? Its the new indentured servitude BTW. I know people who were born in the 70s who only payed one hundred dollars per semester at the UCs. What the hell happened? Demand didn't go down. Its called class warfare.
This guy, Jesse LaGreca is a born leader. He was incredibly poised in handling this fox news reporter who, by definition, is a professional propagandist. I expect to see more of him.
You think our wealth has been taken away from the poor by the wealthy or do you think maybe the unions are making it to difficult for companies to compete and forcing them to go elsewhere? Put the blame when it belongs fat boy! There is allot of wealth in this country, it's just that you liberals are letting China & the Middle East yake it from us. Stop playing the Obama blame game and get a life!
@cozyfoxstudio - the Solyndra 'scandal' is nonsense. They went under because they couldn't compete with their Chinese counterparts who have far more generous subsidies from their own government. Free market loonies like you are unwittingly help China become the leader in the next great technological advancement.
@ObamaFTWdotcom Not only that, but China doesn't enforce environmental regulations. So while, they are able to produce products cheaper, their people die of cancer.
De-regulated free market,'laissez faire' capitalism,as advocated by the likes of Friedman & Von Hayek, has been proved to be a complete disaster for any but the richest.Serious political commentators & economists are warning that this crisis could eventually lead to war.The parallels with the '30s are obvious to anyone with a decent knowledge of 20th century history-& yet, here we have right-wing lunatics pretending that this valiant movement is all a communist plot-INSANE!!
@tooltalk What a scary word, socialism! However, statistics show that the life expectancy for poor and middle class families is far higher for countries of similar technology and wealth that employ more social services than the US. Full blown socialism, the ensured supplying of basic primary needs to everyone regardless of wealth, would be a huge boon to an economy, whose purpose is explicitely to "deliver the goods". The current system of mass hoarding is what is killing your economy and nation
@OfficeThug : yes, indeed it is pretty scary. In spite of the stylized fact that socialism was the one single most important underlying causes of most of failed states in Asia, Africa and Latin America all through 1980's (40 millions starved to death in China's socialistic communes during Cultural Revolution), there are folks out there like you, apparently ignorant of the modern economic history, demanding more of the same.
@tooltalk The current system is favored only by the powerful elite, because it allows them to control where the goods flow in an economy through use of their massive wealth. They can perturb entire markets in their favor. You are merely a product they can package and sell just like water and gas. And increasingly, you are becoming disposable.
Do you still think that such a system favors your life expantancy, individuality, or ability to express yourself through your rights as a human being?
@OfficeThug : yes. that's an unfortunate consequence of big gov't that we now have. When you elect politicians to dispense trillions of dollars in other people's money (and borrowed money we don't have), it's only natural that greedy corporations line up to get their piece of the action.
Sure, in industries with few gov't regulation, like technology / consumer electronic goods, you get improved, efficient, cheaper products every year. The market giants who dominated the markets like IBM,
@OfficeThug : Wang, can't stay in power unless they keep innovating. Only the market force and consumer can determine who survives. And there are plenty of billionaires and millionaires to prove that the system work.
This is possible only because there is less gov't regulators / regulation. Once you get politicians into this picture, every companies will try to get competitive advantage and stay in control by regulating their competitors out of business.
@tooltalk Are you implying that companies are not always trying to get a competitive advantage over each other? Suddenly, the government is involved, so NOW it's a capitalistic system? That doesn't make any sense.
And besides, regulations can stop coorporations from becoming powerful enough to manipulate the government in the first place. That's what regulations do, they limit the extents of what you can do with wealth, labor, and goods.
@OfficeThug : honey, of course they do. Once the gov't is involved, they also have to compete for "political" advantage. capiche?
Ever heard of "revolving / door"? Haven't you heard that Obama's lawyers are now working for GS, Citi, etc (eg, Gregory Craig)? This idea of regulated becoming regulators and regulators becoming regulated is unfortunately nothing new. Unfortunately, more regulation amply this effect.
@TheMango121 You have it backwards. Capitalistic minded people don't want regulation. They want to be able to use their incredible capital girth to corner markets, crush competition, and make more money. Then they win. This idea of harmonic competitiveness in pure capitalism is a myth, and regulation is the only thing that keeps capitalism from destroying itself
Deregulated capitalism will surface, try not to blink or you'll miss it. What comes after is what makes the rich wet their beds.
@OfficeThug : I think I just used the technology industry as an example.
IBM was the largest company once upon a time in the US (and in the world) in 1980's. The company was brought down by the market dynamics and competition coming from small microcomputer makers, not the DOJ's anti-trust lawsuit which was dropped by 1988. This does not happen in industries like banking / telecomm because there are too many regulation, political lobbying, and politicians in bed with their corporate overlords.
@tooltalk I agree with you except you too seem to have regulation backwards. Sure, regulation can be used by powerful coorporations to shrink competition, this is in fact what is happening in the energy sector with nuclear. But regulation is difficult to lobby for even in your current system and typically coorps are more interrested in deregulation in order to enhance their activities. Commodity index pricing was deregulated over the past decades which has accelerated your current predicament.
@OfficeThug : guarantee that regulation would have the desire effect - they often don't understand the industry or products they are trying to regulate. This is one of the reasons why the "revolving door" is inevitable - do you seriously think some career aviation regulators who don't have any experience designing airplanes can dictate how to make airplanes safe? (same goes for financial products or technology in general).
Again, if the tech industry is any indication - the perhaps the only
@OfficeThug : not-so-heavily-regulated industry still generating wealth / productivity in US, Apple's patent wars notwithstanding - we can have fairly competitive / non-monopolistic market that benefits consumers without regulators and politicians.
@OfficeThug : umm.. we haven't had any commodity crisis. The price increase in commodities in the past 10 years has much to do with the falling dollars than speculators.
And if you are talking about the "housing crisis." Ok, yes, now u do have a legit case now. Congress refused to regulate Fannie / Freddie despite all the red-flags raised since late 1990's. Your politicians were/are in bed with Fannie & Freddie and even attacked OFHEO, the regulatory agency for Fannie/Freddie for regulating
@OfficeThug : their activities while Fannie / Freddie's executives were walking away with millions of dollars.
But that only goes to support my position that you do not want politicians / regulators setting the rules. The problem here isn't so much that regulations are inherently bad, but that the (informal) market regulation is far preferable to ones created by your politicians / professional regulators.
@tooltalk That doesn't support your position at all. In that case the regulators didn't set the rules, they were swayed by corporate lobbying to set the rules in their favor, something that things like this movement are strongly against.
Of course corporations wouldn't be using regulations against other corporations in a deregulated economy. Why would they? That's the costliest way to stop a rival. You're really underestimating what's possible when you enough capital and just want to make more.
@OfficeThug : eh? What the hell are you talking about?
Fannie and Freddie are GSE, or quasi-private corporations / gov't agency created by your gov't. OFHEO is responsible for overseeing their capital adequacy and financial safety. In 2003, years before the housing crisis, the director Armando Falcon was *forced to resign* over the release of critical oversight reports. Your dear political leaders came out denying Fannie / Freddie's unsound practice which eventually led to the housing crisis.
@OfficeThug : In an open congressional hearing, he was publicly criticized for doing his work by Freddie and Fannie's political allies - or many of whom were big gov't liberals - and ultimately was forced to resigne. His criticism of the two agencies - of their excessive compensation, speculative / risky practices, creative accounting, etc went no where b/c of the unholy alliance between politicians and corporation.
The case had little or nothing to do with setting new / existing rules.
@OfficeThug : eh? Honey, I have already provided two counter examples eg, tech and consumer electronics industries. Again, in the past, there were attempts by tech companies like Netscape to fight competition by lobbying politicians (against Microsoft's IE web browser) and Apple's use of flawed patent system to weaken their competition.
And again, despite their enormous capital and market dominance, companies like DEC, Wang perished under competition from much smaller companies like Dell
@OfficeThug : started by a college student out of his dorm room. There were people who asked to be buried with their stocks in Wang in the 80's, but it's ultimately the market dynamics that ended it all.
Your nonsensical claim of how the market works is unfortunately straight out of liberals propaganda playbook and only exists in your imagination.
@tooltalk See your ancient examples would be fine, except that you'd need to tell me the levels of regulation between the great depression and the 80s are the same as they are post 2000 in the US were the same for it to have any credence with present market dynamics, which is a complete fabrication. Wang failed because of market oversight. Otherwise it would have bought out Dell like Google bought out youtube, and that would have been the end of it.
@OfficeThug : Eh? what's the point of comparing banking regulations between two very different era's - when the agricultural sector played a greater role in the US economy in the 30's (employing as much as 25% of the entire labor force vs. less than %2 in 2010). And no, the deregulations of US economy started in late 70's with Jimmy Carter when it became apparent to him that liberals' centralization / regulation / extravagant welfare / warfare spending in the 60 was choking the economy to death.
@tooltalk Alright, I'll stop comparing market oversight between now and after the great depression if you stop comparing regulation-dependent markets now and after the great depression. But I know you won't so I'm wasting my breath.
@OfficeThug : And no, for every Youtube, there are companies like Apple, Google, Facebooks, etc started out by students / private entrepreneurs out of their dorm / garage who don't get bought out right by bigger competitors. And no, stop pulling BS out of your a**, Wang, DEC, Compaq, Borland, etc all the dominant market powers once upon a time are no longer here b/c they weren't able to keep up with the changing technology. Unlike your silly claim, they just can't buy their way to survival.
@tooltalk Tell me, why couldn't they just take over the competition and integrate their technology? Really, tell me, why didn't they just do that?
Or better yet, why didn't they just buy out the company and its patents, and never let them see the light of day? Because they could have done that too.
@tooltalk Let me give you a few examples of how much the corporations, traders, and banks don't give a shit about any of us. Commodity price indexing was heavily deregulated after lobbying in the 80s-90s, allowing traders to buy massive amounts of trades contracts and re-lease long (higher) and short (lower) contracts. A growing practice has been buying these contracts and re-leasing after the product was bought by traders, before redistribution, "hoarding" if you will.
@OfficeThug : Are you f'ing kdding me? You obviously don't follow the commodity market.
"Commodity price indexing .." and some more BS.
Honey, during the period in which such commodity trading was deregulated, the prices of commodities declined from mid 80's through 2000 - for instance, one barrel of crude went from $110 to $14 in 2002; the same goes for gold, it went from $1,000 in early 80's to $250 in 2000.
Hmm.. that's pretty odd. why would the prices commodities go down during the
@tooltalk And now the price of gas is significantly more, even though banks are sitting on parked tanker ships full of the stuff because they ran out of silos.
Hmm yes, odd, indeed, or maybe you just have no ability to correlate events?
@OfficeThug : perhaps, because your dollar has less purchasing power? Do you know what currency devaluation does to you? or that inflation amounts to tax on your consumption? So it looks like your gov't irresponsible fiscal / monetary policies have much to do with the rising prices. Isn't it your gov't screwing us all?
@OfficeThug : Now, that doesn't seem to support any of the bullshit you've been spewing so far? If the traders are indeed greedy and "hoarding" commodities, why would the prices of oil / gold / grains / etc fall? Does it make any sense to you? What does your liberal's playbook say about that?
Perhaps, instead of looking at so-called speculation by commodity traders, you should look at the dollar index - which has been declining since 2000. The prices of commodities have been rising
@tooltalk What side of the spectrum are you looking at here? What the traders pay or what the consumers pay? Because I honestly can't follow your progressive conservative nonsense anymore.
As it stands, the consumer is currently paying more than he/she did in 2002 for energy and food commodities in the US. Traders are buying at less because, under the new rules, they can also refuse to take contracts and buy unless producers sell at lowered prices.
@OfficeThug : Oh god. Honey, the point I'm making here is that traders make money whether commodities go up / down - as long as there's volatility. They could always make bets either way and make profit.
The prices of gas, food, etc has been rising b/c of your falling currency - your dollar is buying about 30% less than it did in 2000. That's exactly what happened the 70's - when LBJ's liberal welfare and warfare policies resulted in weakened dollar and inflation a decade later.
@tooltalk You're wrong about the fact that traders can now bet either way and come out a winner. That's not how it worked post 80s. If you bet and lost, you lost. Traders have set themselves up quite nicely in the new system where they can engineer the market to their advantage, which is why they can't lose.
For the record, the government doesn't control the value of the dollar. The banks do. Also, the value of the dollar is both a cause and an effect of a lot of economic fluctuations.
@tooltalk This practice causes demand from the industry sector to rise rapidly and leads to a massive profit margin once traders do decide to sell. This caused the 2007-2008 world food price crisis for instance, causing mass starvations in poorer countries due to food becoming too expensive to afford. Housing isn't a commodity, but loans and speculative practices having to do with housing are even more deregulated and have led to the ongoing recession in the US since 2008.
@tooltalk I don't know what I'd rather have. Your cases where the market is regulated or atleast somewhat regulated and corporations have to jump through hoops to lobby the regulators and government, eventually leading to crony capitalism to get their way, or the current state of full blown deregulated crony capitalism leading into a plutocracy state where deregulation has led to global economy crashes and starvation, while further enriching the perpetrators of it all.
@tooltalk And for the record, informal market regulation (or the invisible hand) is a myth perpetrated by the same crookes that are increasing the segregation of wealth and power in the US and other capitalistic economies. Please don't tell me you'd rather trust these people to run our economy, who honestly don't give a shit about you, me, the economy, or anything else except making more money. We have more control over our politicians and regulators, albeit very little, than these assholes.
@OfficeThug : Of course, I don't trust politicians and professional regulators for the reasons I provided above. I'd rather trust *people* to run the economy than those politicians and their chosen few who thrive at the expense of everyone else.
And no, if the tp and OWS mvts are any indication, there's a huge disconnect between political/regulating class, who care more about their political survival than serving the public, and the rest of us.
@OfficeThug : "Capitalistic minded people don't want regulation"
Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. Of course they want regulation. Just look at Apple waging patent wars against Android phone makers - using some of the most absurd broad abstract ones at that too. It also has a former VP of the US, Al Gore, in its board. Likewise, A. Carnegie wouldn't have survived the influx of cheap / superior British steel without regulation / tariffs.
Unfortunately, even if regulators are well-meaning, there is often no

SURVEY FOX NEWS
By Eric Boehlert
The release this week of yet another survey indicating the more you watch Fox News the less they know, has once again shone a spotlight on one of the unique features that defines Rupert Murdoch's cable news outlet - it is very, very good at misinforming people. And it's very bad at reporting the news. In other words: Propaganda? Yes. News? Not so much
What's stunning is how many different areas of the news and public policy Fox viewers are misinformed
stagleap07 2 months ago
You know, I think that the transcribe audio feature only exists for laughs at this point.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
The subject of this video, while clearly more articulate than the reporter interviewing him, is no more compelling than anyone else representing the "Occupy" movement. All he did was vaguely conspiratorial accusations against "Big Corporations" and snark about "Conservative Media," while calling for more "Jesus Stuff" and complaining about health care as a business. Bottom line: This guy doesn't have a rational viewpoint, all he's got is a grudge.
LelandEStone 3 months ago
Why is it that there so many stupid people on the right? There was even a study that came out last week that prove fox news viewers are dumb and dont know current events. When ask questions they just repeat talking points from fox news personality. Then you have all the crazy silly things the clowns running have been saying. Michelle thinking Libya was in the middle east. Rick S. thinking Africa is a country. Cains meltdown on Libya and Perry un able to name a program he wanted to cut. Idiots!!
b7r7u7c7e 3 months ago
@b7r7u7c7e What do liberals do? Oh thats right beat around th bush and avoid answering questions. Lets see how the liberals stack up? Obama thinks theres 57 states, Joe biden told a senator in a wheel chair to stand up, hilary clinton said this while introducing a quote by Gandhi- He ran a gas station down in St. Louis no, Mahatma Gandhi was a great leader of the 20th century. Now whos the idiots? Liberals
mike12703 2 months ago
@mike12703 Im not saying people dont say silly things our make mistake. For example the right has to go ALL the way back to 08 when Obama was tired. In almost 4 years thats best they can do. When Bush has a high light reel of things hes said in the first month of his first term! lol Biden and Hillary were mistakes not things they believed in. lol There is a difference. Asking someone to stand up is different then thinking you can pray away the gay or that Obama was not born here! lol

@b7r7u7c7e first of all gay people choose to be gay and obama was not born here wheres his birht certificate?

mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 Lol Wow is that the best you can do? I think your talking about yourself. I speak on facts not silly things that are not true. Its a fact for example that the republicans field is weak and according to polls the public thinks the GOP views are extreme. It was reported yesterday according to gallup that not only is Obama beating the right, not only is he more well liked and trusted, he is the most admired. These are facts that you can check! lol Your guys suck and are clowns! lol
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@b7r7u7c7e Well first ill start off by saying that im 15 so of course i live with my mom. Secondly, Obama is not trusted or well liked. He socialized medicine so now everyone who pays taxes is basically paying for some slut or some other dumbass to run around having abortions like its birth control. Then he went and bombed libya without congressional approval. He basically screwed our relationship with the United Kingdom after completely ruining the traditional meeting with the Prime Minister.
mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 Your a young idiot. My little brother whos 13 showed me some polls at real clear politics(A website that average all polls) that show Obama is more liked and more trusted then anyone in the GOP. His personal approval is 70%! And your telling me I dont know what I'm talking about? We dont have socialized medicine. You got that confused with Bush government run program medicaid. And you only need congressional approval if you declare war dummy. BTW wasent done with Iraq! Your dumb 4 15.
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@b7r7u7c7e Wow obviously you still dont know when to shut the fuck up. Obama signed a bill that socialized medicine taking effect in 2012. You are a complete dumbass. It is PROVEN that bush did get congressional permission to deploy soldiers into Iraq. Who admires Obama? Racist, socialist, scumbags? No, Libya was not a NATO operation. It was an operation seeked out by Obama without congressional approval. If a president decided to seek an operation over seas he must get congresssional approval.
mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 Again you are wrong and its funny how stupid you are. Socialized health care would be if the government FORCED you to take it dummy. All this plan does is make health care insurance more affordable. It make it easier to deal with your Doctor without insurance companies getting in the way. But if you like your plan you keep it. lol Btw it goes into effect in 2013 idiot. And Libya was a NATO operation. Its on record. WOW you dont know shit about anything. You have to be a drop out! lo
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@mike12703 One other thing you are wrong again on the Iraq war. Bush did not ask for congress to declare war in Iraq. We went to war with Iraq, and only congress can declare war! And the president has the power to send troops anywhere in the world for 90 days. Then he has to go to congress for money. And if the GOP felt like you did all they had to do was stop the funding, they control the house so they control the money! lol There just pissed cause Obama didnt get our troops killed like Bush.
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@b7r7u7c7e First of all yes he did even before he sent our troops out he got congresses approval look it up. Somebody must watch a lot of CNN. Obama got a shit load of our soldiers killed. He gave them shit supplies such as there wapons jamming more than ever(onoly happenning when obama was president), they didn't get what they needed. Obama is a sick basterd. Anyone who follows him is too. Notice how you dropped everything you said before Just to talk shit about Bush. To bad your wrong.
mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 Congress did not declare war on Iraq. This is a fact. Anytime we send our troops in peace we have to inform Congress because they control the purse. But your main point was war. War in Libya. I corrected you by stated the President of the United states can send our troops anywhere for 90 days then he has to ask for congress to fund it. Thats all. He didnnt need a declaration because it was under NATO. I didnt drop anything just correcting the fact that we were protecting the rebels.
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@b7r7u7c7e no i never said we went to war with libya i said that Obama bombed them without getting permission from congress. The UN doesn't mean shit its filled with ant-american assholes. Obama is the one who also decided what gets to the soldiers if he wants he can cut it off. Bombing libya was a huge mistake because now the terrorists blocked off a lot of the passage ways to our oil drilling spots. If we drilled in America that wouldn't be a problem.
mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 You linked Libya with War by saying the President needs permission. Permission meaning a declaration of war. That is how our checks and balance works. The President can conduct military action but only for 90 days. Thats why after 90 days we stopped using our war planes, but let other nation use our aircraft carriers, technology. On the ground we use CIA, Special Ops to locate targets and train rebels. And who gives a shit what they do with there country. That wasent or objection. lol
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@b7r7u7c7e But your dickheaded buddy Obama doesn't want us to drill here does he?
mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 As for our men and women there have never been a time in history they didnt get what they needed or battle. It was during the Iraq war that soldiers were complaining about having bad vest. Mothers would spend extra money to send there sons and other soldiers better vest. When the Bush people found this out they sent out better armor. Under Obama soldiers got better up to date vehicles. As for jamming what do you want. The M4 and M41 is standard. In the desert there gonna jam dummy.
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago

IDIOT!

I've been shooting guns since i was 3 i would know fucking cock face
mike12703 1 month ago

Just look up HK416 vs M4 and it will show you the M4 carbine jams while the 416 dosent because they use some tehnology from the Ak47 dumb ass. lol
b7r7u7c7e 1 month ago
@b7r7u7c7e did i ever say i was gonna beat the shit out of you? im a blue belt in tae kwon do im 5'10 and 165 pounds think im scared of you? ive fought people 6'5 and 320 pounds. the funny thing is that you said "liberals dont have guns. lmao" well whats you response on that? cause they don't. i never said the ak 47 jams. i said the M4s and M16s do. the ak 47 barely ever jams ive been around guns probably almost as long as you've been fucking your fat whore mother
mike12703 1 month ago
@mike12703 Copy and paste were I said libs dont have guns. I never said that. You said that idiot. I was responding to you saying guns dont jam from dirt/sand which is false. Being in the military we were told to always clean or weapons because they jam from dirt and sand. You can also find youtube vids that conform this. Thats why I said the HK416 was modeled after the AK to insure durability. Again there is youtube vidz showing gunners testing this. So everything you said was bullshit.

We shall govern the Corporations, not vice versa.

I say "Let the middle class shrink" the only reason American's have had it so good is because they have been sucking the governments tit for 60 years. Look at China-there's no middle class there and yet they have become the super power of the planet. They have surpassed the US by hard work, not government handouts. I will work with my brothers Cantor, Boehner, and Paul Ryan to end all handout programs and encourage tax breaks for job creators.

fenderamr2222 4 months ago
@fenderamr2222 Yes because Obama is a bad president etc. but unless you're blind and def you'd have noticed this movement isn't about fucking Obama now is it? What's it about? Well apparently it's about the rising level of segregation between the poor and the rich, about how the economy is not being handled by the traders and banks with the health of the nation in mind, and how the job market is still barren despite all that touting by both democrats and repoblicans on rich people creating jobs.
OfficeThug 3 months ago
@OfficeThug hahaha i didnt even say obama was a bad president word for word, and yes i know it is about the gap between the rich and the poor. "Well apparently it's about the rising level of segregation between the poor and the rich...". This is what every one there has in common: they just want the rich to be taxed more. That won't solve anything. You can't bring the bottom up by bringing the top down. Besides, what is your definition of wealthy? Obama's definition is those who make $250,000+
fenderamr2222 3 months ago
@fenderamr2222 How will taxing the rich not solve anything, when they sit on enough stale capital to pay off the US' debt in full? They have huge amounts of money in personnal accounts and assets with the express purpose of hoarding money. These trillions will never see the light of day or change hands again. It will not go into expanding their companies or even into buying luxuries. It is completely ripped apart from the US economy, and you wonder where all your national wealth has gone.
OfficeThug 3 months ago
@OfficeThug There are a lot of small business owners who make that much money and don't use private jets or limos etc. Do you consider obama's defintion of wealthy that? That is just capitalism my friend, and if there was a flat tax and the termination of the FED then this would all be solved. From my job I have first hand experienced capitalism and how it works and its benefits. If you want the federal government to tax the rich more, then I guess you are okay with lot of government interventio
fenderamr2222 3 months ago
@OfficeThug By the way, how about you blame primarily DC instead of wall street for the mess, I mean hey DC is the source of the money (bailouts) for Wall Street. And as for all the people who feel sorry for those who lost their homes to the bank, how about you realize what personal responsibility is all about. If you can't afford a big house, THEN DON'T TAKE A LOAN ON IT YOU CAN'T PAY BACK !
fenderamr2222 3 months ago
@fenderamr2222 They were told they would be able to repay the debts. What they weren't told is that the banks would later sell those mortgages as assets and then bet against those mortgages to hike up the prices to an unpayable level.
The enemy here is the banks and traders. They're the reason why commoditties are becoming unafordable. They are buying and betting against necessities to hike up the prices so they make more pittance in their shrewd trades, and we need to stop them.

@OfficeThug : at this rate, in less than 6-8 years, this country is going full socialism.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk What a scary word, socialism! However, statistics show that the life expectancy for poor and middle class families is far higher for countries of similar technology and wealth that employ more social services than the US. Full blown socialism, the ensured supplying of basic primary needs to everyone regardless of wealth, would be a huge boon to an economy, whose purpose is explicitely to "deliver the goods". The current system of mass hoarding is what is killing your economy and nation
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : yes, indeed it is pretty scary. In spite of the stylized fact that socialism was the one single most important underlying causes of most of failed states in Asia, Africa and Latin America all through 1980's (40 millions starved to death in China's socialistic communes during Cultural Revolution), there are folks out there like you, apparently ignorant of the modern economic history, demanding more of the same.
It's simply appalling.
tooltalk 4 months ago

The market giants who dominated the markets like IBM,

tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : Wang, can't stay in power unless they keep innovating. Only the market force and consumer can determine who survives. And there are plenty of billionaires and millionaires to prove that the system work.
This is possible only because there is less gov't regulators / regulation. Once you get politicians into this picture, every companies will try to get competitive advantage and stay in control by regulating their competitors out of business.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk Are you implying that companies are not always trying to get a competitive advantage over each other? Suddenly, the government is involved, so NOW it's a capitalistic system? That doesn't make any sense.
And besides, regulations can stop coorporations from becoming powerful enough to manipulate the government in the first place. That's what regulations do, they limit the extents of what you can do with wealth, labor, and goods.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : honey, of course they do. Once the gov't is involved, they also have to compete for "political" advantage. capiche?
Ever heard of "revolving / door"? Haven't you heard that Obama's lawyers are now working for GS, Citi, etc (eg, Gregory Craig)? This idea of regulated becoming regulators and regulators becoming regulated is unfortunately nothing new. Unfortunately, more regulation amply this effect.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug
Never was... never will be.
With the system we have now it works PERFECT for rich people and big banks. It will continue with more regulation.
America hasn't had true capitalism!
TheMango121 4 months ago
@TheMango121 You have it backwards. Capitalistic minded people don't want regulation. They want to be able to use their incredible capital girth to corner markets, crush competition, and make more money. Then they win. This idea of harmonic competitiveness in pure capitalism is a myth, and regulation is the only thing that keeps capitalism from destroying itself
Deregulated capitalism will surface, try not to blink or you'll miss it. What comes after is what makes the rich wet their beds.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : I think I just used the technology industry as an example.
IBM was the largest company once upon a time in the US (and in the world) in 1980's. The company was brought down by the market dynamics and competition coming from small microcomputer makers, not the DOJ's anti-trust lawsuit which was dropped by 1988. This does not happen in industries like banking / telecomm because there are too many regulation, political lobbying, and politicians in bed with their corporate overlords.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk I agree with you except you too seem to have regulation backwards. Sure, regulation can be used by powerful coorporations to shrink competition, this is in fact what is happening in the energy sector with nuclear. But regulation is difficult to lobby for even in your current system and typically coorps are more interrested in deregulation in order to enhance their activities. Commodity index pricing was deregulated over the past decades which has accelerated your current predicament.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : guarantee that regulation would have the desire effect - they often don't understand the industry or products they are trying to regulate. This is one of the reasons why the "revolving door" is inevitable - do you seriously think some career aviation regulators who don't have any experience designing airplanes can dictate how to make airplanes safe? (same goes for financial products or technology in general).
Again, if the tech industry is any indication - the perhaps the only
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : not-so-heavily-regulated industry still generating wealth / productivity in US, Apple's patent wars notwithstanding - we can have fairly competitive / non-monopolistic market that benefits consumers without regulators and politicians.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : umm.. we haven't had any commodity crisis. The price increase in commodities in the past 10 years has much to do with the falling dollars than speculators.
And if you are talking about the "housing crisis." Ok, yes, now u do have a legit case now. Congress refused to regulate Fannie / Freddie despite all the red-flags raised since late 1990's. Your politicians were/are in bed with Fannie & Freddie and even attacked OFHEO, the regulatory agency for Fannie/Freddie for regulating
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : their activities while Fannie / Freddie's executives were walking away with millions of dollars.
But that only goes to support my position that you do not want politicians / regulators setting the rules. The problem here isn't so much that regulations are inherently bad, but that the (informal) market regulation is far preferable to ones created by your politicians / professional regulators.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk That doesn't support your position at all. In that case the regulators didn't set the rules, they were swayed by corporate lobbying to set the rules in their favor, something that things like this movement are strongly against.
Of course corporations wouldn't be using regulations against other corporations in a deregulated economy. Why would they? That's the costliest way to stop a rival. You're really underestimating what's possible when you enough capital and just want to make more.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : eh? What the hell are you talking about?
Fannie and Freddie are GSE, or quasi-private corporations / gov't agency created by your gov't. OFHEO is responsible for overseeing their capital adequacy and financial safety. In 2003, years before the housing crisis, the director Armando Falcon was *forced to resign* over the release of critical oversight reports. Your dear political leaders came out denying Fannie / Freddie's unsound practice which eventually led to the housing crisis.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : In an open congressional hearing, he was publicly criticized for doing his work by Freddie and Fannie's political allies - or many of whom were big gov't liberals - and ultimately was forced to resigne. His criticism of the two agencies - of their excessive compensation, speculative / risky practices, creative accounting, etc went no where b/c of the unholy alliance between politicians and corporation.
The case had little or nothing to do with setting new / existing rules.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : eh? Honey, I have already provided two counter examples eg, tech and consumer electronics industries. Again, in the past, there were attempts by tech companies like Netscape to fight competition by lobbying politicians (against Microsoft's IE web browser) and Apple's use of flawed patent system to weaken their competition.
And again, despite their enormous capital and market dominance, companies like DEC, Wang perished under competition from much smaller companies like Dell
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : started by a college student out of his dorm room. There were people who asked to be buried with their stocks in Wang in the 80's, but it's ultimately the market dynamics that ended it all.
Your nonsensical claim of how the market works is unfortunately straight out of liberals propaganda playbook and only exists in your imagination.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk See your ancient examples would be fine, except that you'd need to tell me the levels of regulation between the great depression and the 80s are the same as they are post 2000 in the US were the same for it to have any credence with present market dynamics, which is a complete fabrication. Wang failed because of market oversight. Otherwise it would have bought out Dell like Google bought out youtube, and that would have been the end of it.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : Eh? what's the point of comparing banking regulations between two very different era's - when the agricultural sector played a greater role in the US economy in the 30's (employing as much as 25% of the entire labor force vs. less than %2 in 2010). And no, the deregulations of US economy started in late 70's with Jimmy Carter when it became apparent to him that liberals' centralization / regulation / extravagant welfare / warfare spending in the 60 was choking the economy to death.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk Alright, I'll stop comparing market oversight between now and after the great depression if you stop comparing regulation-dependent markets now and after the great depression. But I know you won't so I'm wasting my breath.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : And no, for every Youtube, there are companies like Apple, Google, Facebooks, etc started out by students / private entrepreneurs out of their dorm / garage who don't get bought out right by bigger competitors. And no, stop pulling BS out of your a**, Wang, DEC, Compaq, Borland, etc all the dominant market powers once upon a time are no longer here b/c they weren't able to keep up with the changing technology. Unlike your silly claim, they just can't buy their way to survival.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk Tell me, why couldn't they just take over the competition and integrate their technology? Really, tell me, why didn't they just do that?
Or better yet, why didn't they just buy out the company and its patents, and never let them see the light of day? Because they could have done that too.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@tooltalk Let me give you a few examples of how much the corporations, traders, and banks don't give a shit about any of us. Commodity price indexing was heavily deregulated after lobbying in the 80s-90s, allowing traders to buy massive amounts of trades contracts and re-lease long (higher) and short (lower) contracts. A growing practice has been buying these contracts and re-leasing after the product was bought by traders, before redistribution, "hoarding" if you will.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : Are you f'ing kdding me? You obviously don't follow the commodity market.
"Commodity price indexing .." and some more BS.
Honey, during the period in which such commodity trading was deregulated, the prices of commodities declined from mid 80's through 2000 - for instance, one barrel of crude went from $110 to $14 in 2002; the same goes for gold, it went from $1,000 in early 80's to $250 in 2000.
Hmm.. that's pretty odd. why would the prices commodities go down during the
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk And now the price of gas is significantly more, even though banks are sitting on parked tanker ships full of the stuff because they ran out of silos.
Hmm yes, odd, indeed, or maybe you just have no ability to correlate events?
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : perhaps, because your dollar has less purchasing power? Do you know what currency devaluation does to you? or that inflation amounts to tax on your consumption? So it looks like your gov't irresponsible fiscal / monetary policies have much to do with the rising prices. Isn't it your gov't screwing us all?
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : Now, that doesn't seem to support any of the bullshit you've been spewing so far? If the traders are indeed greedy and "hoarding" commodities, why would the prices of oil / gold / grains / etc fall? Does it make any sense to you? What does your liberal's playbook say about that?
Perhaps, instead of looking at so-called speculation by commodity traders, you should look at the dollar index - which has been declining since 2000. The prices of commodities have been rising
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk What side of the spectrum are you looking at here? What the traders pay or what the consumers pay? Because I honestly can't follow your progressive conservative nonsense anymore.
As it stands, the consumer is currently paying more than he/she did in 2002 for energy and food commodities in the US. Traders are buying at less because, under the new rules, they can also refuse to take contracts and buy unless producers sell at lowered prices.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : Oh god. Honey, the point I'm making here is that traders make money whether commodities go up / down - as long as there's volatility. They could always make bets either way and make profit.
The prices of gas, food, etc has been rising b/c of your falling currency - your dollar is buying about 30% less than it did in 2000. That's exactly what happened the 70's - when LBJ's liberal welfare and warfare policies resulted in weakened dollar and inflation a decade later.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk You're wrong about the fact that traders can now bet either way and come out a winner. That's not how it worked post 80s. If you bet and lost, you lost. Traders have set themselves up quite nicely in the new system where they can engineer the market to their advantage, which is why they can't lose.
For the record, the government doesn't control the value of the dollar. The banks do. Also, the value of the dollar is both a cause and an effect of a lot of economic fluctuations.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : ok, I thought you were a bit clueless, but you are officialy a moron.
Why don't you just shut the fuck up if you don't know what you are talking about?
I have no time for your verbal dirrhea mixed with 3rd grade education. Just go away.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@tooltalk Yes because they totally teach causality and market thermodynamics theory in 3rd grade.
By the way, I'm Canadian, and socialist-conservative.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@tooltalk This practice causes demand from the industry sector to rise rapidly and leads to a massive profit margin once traders do decide to sell. This caused the 2007-2008 world food price crisis for instance, causing mass starvations in poorer countries due to food becoming too expensive to afford. Housing isn't a commodity, but loans and speculative practices having to do with housing are even more deregulated and have led to the ongoing recession in the US since 2008.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@tooltalk I don't know what I'd rather have. Your cases where the market is regulated or atleast somewhat regulated and corporations have to jump through hoops to lobby the regulators and government, eventually leading to crony capitalism to get their way, or the current state of full blown deregulated crony capitalism leading into a plutocracy state where deregulation has led to global economy crashes and starvation, while further enriching the perpetrators of it all.
OfficeThug 4 months ago
@tooltalk And for the record, informal market regulation (or the invisible hand) is a myth perpetrated by the same crookes that are increasing the segregation of wealth and power in the US and other capitalistic economies. Please don't tell me you'd rather trust these people to run our economy, who honestly don't give a shit about you, me, the economy, or anything else except making more money. We have more control over our politicians and regulators, albeit very little, than these assholes.
OfficeThug 4 months ago

tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : Of course, I don't trust politicians and professional regulators for the reasons I provided above. I'd rather trust *people* to run the economy than those politicians and their chosen few who thrive at the expense of everyone else.
And no, if the tp and OWS mvts are any indication, there's a huge disconnect between political/regulating class, who care more about their political survival than serving the public, and the rest of us.
tooltalk 4 months ago
@OfficeThug : "Capitalistic minded people don't want regulation"
Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. Of course they want regulation. Just look at Apple waging patent wars against Android phone makers - using some of the most absurd broad abstract ones at that too. It also has a former VP of the US, Al Gore, in its board. Likewise, A. Carnegie wouldn't have survived the influx of cheap / superior British steel without regulation / tariffs.
Unfortunately, even if regulators are well-meaning, there is often no
