Back in the 60's and early 70's Bruce was already cross training in MANY different styles (Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Wing Chun, Wrestling, Choy Lay Fut, Praying Mantis, etc.). Bruce was well versed in both the older Chinese systems as well as martial arts like wrestling and Judo.
He was becoming good at this stuff when people didn't even think about training in it.

@TheRozza333 Ontop of how hard Bas hits ... he is actually really good at technical striking , with BOXING gloves on vs a world class boxer while bas was in his prime yea Bas would have some Trouble ...but Bas has an iron chin vs MMA gloves for fuck sakes ... put MMA gloves on them both and I don't see Bas losing to many people in a pure punching match in his prime. The Title means that boxers are thought to hit harder tho was the point.

@Wonglow most good boxer would still be able to outBOX Bas regardless of the glove type. I say most because some boxers like james toney, Archie moore and Mayweather would have a tougher time with the MMA glove because they tend to shoulder roll which you cant really do with the small gloves (although they would still destroy him in a PURE boxing match even if they used MMA gloves.) If he went against Tyson, Frazier or Marciano in a boxing match with MMA gloves he would get KO'd in 30 seconds

@TheRozza333 The shoulder roll was most effective in the 1920's when Gloves were very very small! In the 1970's when full pad gloves were introduced... the shoulderroll became much less effective! If you understand the mechanics of the roll... it is more effective barefisted!

@TheRozza333 you have no idea how hard he trains his punches and you can not say for sure that he would be outboxed by a boxer thats simply absurd, ultimately its all about how skilled of a fighter you are. but one thing is that mma fighters are some of the toughest men alive they not only train in multiple different aspects of combat but they get hit with hard hits all the time which developes a serious ability to take a punch and ifbas were to box the boxer would have to be extremily good

These are BS I just watch one where Bas threw a right hand and he had like 650 POF and this left hook is 1290. Yea sure I looked at that left hook it wasn't thrown correctly his hips would have turned more and it didn't look like he pivoted that front leg

Someone who trains in a 1 dimensional sport like boxing is going to be able to strike harder and faster than someone who only trains there boxing skills only about 15% of there total over all training. So your comment is ignorant and you might want to understand how something works before you comment on something you know nothing about. A boxer trains every day to become a stronger and harder puncher an mma fighter trains to become a better over fighter.

The best way to deliver the most power and hardesrt punch would be a straight overhand punch not a looping left hook, he's wasting a tone of kenetic energy that will not be applied to his target by hitting this way, which is why most MMA fighters suck as strikers, this video is proof positive

@leopoldvs Earnie Shavers is still considered to be the hardest puncher in boxing ever. Contrary to popular opinion, Tyson was not a one punch knock out artist. It was his speed, accuracy and elusiveness (he was an excellent defensive fighter) that resulted in an accumulation of punches that got him most of his wins. Interestingly, when they fought (twice) Frank Bruno was considered to posess a harder single punch than Tyson.
