  • they are all good

  • Your all arguing which version is best..!

This was a tribute too John Lennon...it was first performed by Roxy at a German concert a few days after John died... spontaniously as a tribute to his greatness.

Listen to the live 1982 version....which in my opinion is the best Roxy version, as it has more soul.

  • best son!

  • Fin musik

  • No. I disagree with those who say this was better than lennon - a very simple reason too.. This song is meant to be "from the heart" you know? the beauty of the song is in it's simplicity. And Lennon's version oozes just pure love, guilt, unhappiness at the situation, sorrow and a deep deep desire to be forgiven.

We don't want "more guitars" on this song or whatever man.. listen to Lennon sing the lyric "I was feeling insecure, you might not love me anymore" and THAT is the song!

  • My apologies to whom i hurt too !

  • Andy MacKay's sax gives me the chills everytime I hear it.

  • a whisper scratching my heart...simply

  • yes yes yes!

  • que c est beau a écouter,merveilleux!

  • King

  • Bryan Ferry should be the next James Bond

  • @Verkelos Absolutely...

  • there are no such thing as two version of this song!!! that are only one "version" of this song that is this video!!

John lennon IS THE SONG!! if john hadnt wrote this guy wouldnt be here!

  • brian ferry took this song to a higher level, this is beyond imagination : ))

  • "young free and single"%[Lit]Y

  • Lennon's version is a thousand times better

  • Good old memories. Times way better version than Lennon's. Cheers!

  • In memory of Tycho

  • J. Lennon wrote a load of songs , which later were performed better by others

  • @4petronius

Lennons talent was in his song writing not his singing...we are coming up to the 30th anniversary of his murder by that twat Chapman

  • i loved this song all my life ... and now i saw the first time time i saw HIM

    ich think i must die,

voll krass, alle meine träume sterben. so ein schlagerfuzzi, hab immer nur auf seine stimme gehört, OMG, wie sieht DER DENN AUS!!!

    krass,

    lg

  • roxy music are amazing,a fuckin million times better than lennon

  • @deutschland0004 This is a tribute to John Lennon.

  • I agree, but no need here for hard language

  • there's so much more going on in this video musically than lennon's.. i love them both.. but i like this version better

  • haha this is shit compared to the original.

  • That cat looks like he's about to give a news report on constipation. Dig those boots though...

  • rip

  • Por favor la sra que dijo que este hombre es un aparato que recapacite y se retracte.

  • Don't compare the versions.....They are two different things but both true art.

  • croutopot-fuck u lennon is the best... he is legend no one bit john lennon

  • Legend

  • This song makes me cry because it remember me at times when i was young and i see my parents dance at this song ...this is pure and real!!!!!4 all who feels a little bit like me:)thx

  • lol gotta love the sax player 80s mohawk..

  • such a special song to me.

  • Yes I like this version much better.

  • I don't understand how people can like this better than the original. John's version is clean, honest and full of sadness. It's such a beautiful song, this version is to happy pappy in my opinion.

  • @gaeira there is no cover of this song that equals the original ... John wrote a song that is tender and gut wrenching in its honesty... copy attempts have all failed... John captured the feeling perfectly....

  • yeah i tink this version is a little bit better than d john lennon one

  • Nowhere near as good as Lennon's, i mean its a great song dont get me wrong and this guy sings it well but nothing can beat the original

  • Phil Manzanera makes it look so damn easy on guitar, great to hear they have reformed with the original lineup, touring in Jan 11

  • @TalkToTheBody Yep. Only Brian Eno not touting with them. Timeless band

  • ex fella dedicated this to me when he beat the crap out of me when i was younger!!

love this song just hate jealous guys!!!xxx

  • at 0.32 he pulls a face like he being rogered, maybe it helps with the tremolo notes..

  • very good song

  • great cover. has anyone ever seen 'chelsea walls'? there is a great cover of this in that movie too!

  • Bettter than Lennon's because there's more guitar. Simple.

  • @KINGofALLtheMERCIANS Yes better than Lennons version but of course Lennon wrote it which was where is real talent lay...song writing... he is a legend of course.

  • Really not enough whistle solos in music these days.

  • I'm a Paul fan but John's version, the original "Jealous Guy" version is way better than this one.

  • electric voice

  • Me, too:). ..And it still hurts...

  • @NewKathak

    Yeahhh ... It still hurts!

  • C*L*A*S*S

  • Brian Ferry is the man.

  • @shannam138 nooo, he's woman

  • @shannam138 He is the guy, but it's Bryan, for your information LOL

  • no way is this better than lennon's original, are you guys crazy? if anything its exactly the same with added 80s cheesiness and not as much emotional honesty. not to mention the coke addled eyes ..

  • @sleepersoundstudio

    agreed. lennon ftw

  • many years back I left this song (cassette tape) on her door step.....she broke up with me boo hoo....ah the good ol 80's....I want my Monte SS back

  • am i the only person who thinks this guy is awful??

i used to like this song but this creep has put me right off!!

    shame on you ferry shame.

  • @noneleftforme123 You are the only guy. Shame on him for what exactly? Get over it - the guy's a genius.

  • @death2hiphopnRnB genius my arse!!

shame on him for making this video a creep fest he makes my skin crawl and im not a guy!!!

  • @noneleftforme123 are you serious? roxy music are quality, there is no disrespect to john lennon in this song and as it happens, it is actualy better in some ways and worse in other ways. this is a song to someone who is in love and not worked out. there is much more emotion in this and in brian ferry. thats why people like it. how the hell is it a creep fest ? its just about a guy whos jealous and in love and lost out. dont knock roxy music oh yeah im 22 btw

  • please let your soul rest in peace, JL

  • not true ransom

  • Lets just hope that John Lennon is not a jealous guy because this version is better ....they are both brilliant singers.

  • a really master piece!!

  • supercool, thank you for post the víd

  • im a big john lennon fan but in the 1970's i was also a fan of roxy music and bryan ferry.

  • Roxy performed this as a tribute for John Lennon in his honour after he was murdered senselessly at the early age of 40. Imagine what more John could have performed with the rest of a long life.

  • how you guys are mutants, Lennons was way better than this. How can you compare to the original, it was Johns heart and soul in the song, this guys capitalized on something good after John died, im all for keeping alive good music, but this is a butcher. Its people like you guys that keep alive souja boys and kim kardashians of this world.

  • @MrRansomking p.s Whistle > Sax

  • @MrRansomking Lennon was an overrated hippie in my humble opinion. As for Ferry, he did this as a tribute - nothing to do with cashing in on anything. Roxy Music were already a massive and well-established band. You think this cover is a butchers job? All I can say is don't listen to anything in the charts...you'll have a heart-attack.

  • John L..a truly timeless song..

but better sung by Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music...they turned it into liquid velvet.

  • Few bands can cover someone else and do it justice. This does.

  • Its softer, more expainable. More telling, trying harder to explain it all. Well, how can a woman rip a man apart when he did nothing wrong, nothing....

  • lennon sang it like Lennon did but Ferry certainly added his own great vocals please bring back the 80's style of songs to fit into the 21st century .

  • Bryan Ferry is great!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved Johns version but this just that little bit better one of those covers that trancends the original.

  • gay!!!

  • Beautiful, just beautiful!

  • It's good, but I believe John Lennon's was better. It didn't have a lot of instruments in the background, it was just him singing, more raw but more emotional.

  • Roxy Music's cover of John Lennon's Jealous Guy, their only #1 single in the UK

  • ray manzareks solo is one of the great moments in music

it was a gift to a beautiful song

  • @ggbggbggb Don't get me wrong, but actually is Phil Manzanera

(guitar player of Roxy Music). Ray Manzarek was "The Doors" keyboards' player...

I too make mistakes and i like to be corrected.

    Be well.

  • Pic-Nic

  • Phil Manzereks guitar solo is one of the great moments in music history.

    he made the original better.

  • This great song brings back memories around 1982 Melbourne Art Trip on a bus partying!!! I was 18 at the time and still in High School. The Heights School in Adelaide

  • the jacket in the same colour like his eyes...this man had style!!!

  • Like most people say this version is better than John Lennon's and I agree.

  • Me too - superb!

  • Seriously is he steaming when he made his vids?

    He looks drunk lol

    Love the song : D

  • @MrGuvEuroman Always stoned, yes.

  • This was my dads fav song 8 years ago he passed away to the day, this was one of his songs along with imagine by lennon.bye dad love you loads

  • @K911ify my deepest sympathies

  • on en oublierait que John Lennon l'a chanté avant lui !

  • wonderful

  • I am a massive John Lennon fan

    But I love this version Fantastic x x x x

  • I thuink some of the comments made on this page by a---h---'s should get a life its about music not childish drivel go somewhere eslse to talk shit

  • the visual play of reflections in the intro is in tune with the musical ambience, emblematic of ROxy Music.

  • to me IMHO he was the British equivalent of Elvis and Frank Sinatra

  • The best cover ever....

  • gosto muito desse clip e musica, me traz lembranças de pessoas e lugares, mito lindo.

  • I always liked this version a little better than John Lennons, that doesnt take away from John Lennons awsome song writing ability though

  • @1SouthernDeathCult1 Hey me too..no disrespect to the original..just luuurrrvve Bryan's version :)

  • @1SouthernDeathCult1 i sort of agree with you there, i always secretly preffered this version but felt guilty as John Lennon is my God. Their both absolutely amazing versions anyway though so what the hell.

  • @1SouthernDeathCult1 Even though I respect your opinion (and the opinion of those who thumbed it up) I STRONGLY DISAGREE! :)

  • @1SouthernDeathCult1 I totally agree!!!!

  • @1SouthernDeathCult1 are you stupid? literally are you the dumbest person ever. You do know that Lennon's version, with piano, a good singer and the orchestration with the strings is better than this piece of shit

  • @jmlives27 maybe I was once the dumbest person ever, but if I was that ceased to be true the moment your mothers abortion of you took place.

  • best cover

  • Mmm?he's a guy who has a sleep disorder and dreams of the past 'while admiting he is jealous..of what......???fo gods sake brian be more specific

  • @tigerhorsefield For fucks sake,GET A LIFE

  • @santana6797 in reply ...unless i am writing this from the spirit world..i put it to you i am alive ' therefore i have a life.... i dont think i will require your ''help'' just yet....

  • err,wot???

  • @santana6797

    get a diper

  • i crapp - you eat.

  • komah11...tell the cunt to fuck off mate.

  • santana6797..take ya book and shove it up ya arse..

  • I guess you also mean diaper...

  • Apologise for spelling error.

  • There's a word for this kind of video clip in french: 'ringard'.

A good cover anyway, but I prefer Elliott Smith's one.

  • Such pathetic comments

  • Bryan Ferry's voice quivers

And with this song of Lennon's he delivers

  • beautiful. better than lennon's version. then again lennon did write it so.....

  • You're right! This one is much better than Lennon's!

  • such beautiful lyrics, I rather listen to Lennon's version, but that's just my opinion, 'cause I'm a huge Beatle fan, and I like john's "afraid" way to sing, he sound really personal

  • Peter Criss did a cover of this on one of his post KISS solo albums too. He's also a long time fan of Brian Ferry.

  • First time I head this song in the movie ''Look who is talking now'' and I was hooked :) . I love this song and this version :)

  • My favorite moments are those ones from 3:50 to the end! Just wonderful!

  • besser wie jhon lennon

  • So much emotion!!!!!! in his face!!!

he has been there and back!

personaly i like a jelous guy thats just me.

  • I think this is better than the original version. I don't know, I love this song!

  • the white socks with suit and his facial expressions are kinda disturbing

  • better than lennons version by a mile

  • Comment removed

  • Believe me, this man should NEVER feel insecure.

    Elegant, elegant man.

  • He looks like an alcoholic

  • Why do you think every video featuring Ferry has a close-up on his eyes?

  • Brian Ferry = Roxy Music

    Roxy Music = Brian Ferry

  • Ouh les jolies cravates !
