I am confused as to why you referred to one point as a no good reason slowdown. The traffic at that particular point of the video didn't look any worse to me than at any other point. It didn't look like a slowdown to me.
@meteorrocketable There was traffic slowing down and when we got there, there was no reason for it, no accident or lane closure, you'll have to just trust me on that.
A lot of masonic symbolism in Washington DC, the obelisk (George Washington Monument) symbolizes the sun god Ra, and you can see them in most masonic cities including London, Paris, Vatican (Yes where the pope is), etc. George Washington himself was a freemason. ALL American presidents are masons (with the exception of a very few people like JFK) and this can be seen in their hand-signs and secret handshakes.....Secret societies are NOT a good thing in this world. EXPOSE THEM!!!
"Geometric demonstration and discovery of a " geometric sacred boss " used very presumably in the construction of The Great Pyramid of Gizéh's plateau and his chance? Relation with the number "pi" (with a simple rule and / or compass) 2300 years B. Arquimedes (4600 years B.J.C.) for the farón Jufu-Keops. "
Here's a bit of trivia (that you may already know), the section of the Interstate that you covered from about 1:55 (as you crossed the Anacostia) until 2:18 (where I-395 south begins) is officially known as I-695. Officials purposely left it un-signed because there are already too many "95's" in the DC area, so they didn't want to add to the confusion; 1.2 miles.
Great videos; I like to show them to my reporters, so they can get a feel of what the roads they report about actually look like.
@ReliantBroadcasting Thanks! that's a good bit of trivia there, here's another one that's similar. US-50 From DC to Annapolis is officially known as I-595 but is un-signed for the same reasons you mentioned above. Notice the road is built to Interstate Standards.
yes, and MDOT likes to remind the public of that every once in a while by accidentally printing that in the sub-text on the Incident Page of their CHART website, under the US-50 section.
:)
Do you plan on doing a video of US-50 along that stretch?
Man, i wish i were there. u american people are so lucky. i like america, although i dont know why but i know its brief history...and i wanna be there someday.
Actually, Freewayjim is correct. The area around the Pentagon including Shirley Hwy, Washington Blvd, Rt-110, US-1, Columbia Pike, and the G.W Pkwy was appropriately named the Mixing Bowl way back in the early 1970s when the bus-lanes (now called H.O.V. Lanes) were added. It was also when Shirley Hwy went from being VA Rt-350 to I-95 (later I-395 in 1977). VDOT still calls it the Mixing Bowl.
The Springfield Interchange was inaccurately dubbed the "Mixing Bowl" by certain local media groups.
I read somewhere recently that it would've been possible to build the new Wilson Bridge so that the span goes high enough to not require an opening for boats but they chose not to do it because they thought it would look unsightly.
@DANNYxxxxxx You guys are both correct, there was a mixing bowl by the Pentagon in Arlington where I-395 and VA-27 met but the concensus is now that the mixing bowl is the Springfield interchange and the Arlington Interchange is called the Pentagon Road Network.
Like the vid, but you could have gone from the South towards the North instead so that you could have gotten the monuments in it. It's what we're known for!
I was heading south in general so that would have taken me more out of the way that I already was and the sunlight was better heading southwest at that time of day.
When the Springfield interchange was under construction I would make a point to drive down there from DC and take a ride through it every time a new phase was completed. Yeah. I'm a dork.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that is a bunch of bs he just cruised right on through there making it seem as if there are no delays. I drive through that way every day and i hate it i fell asleep in traffic to many times to count.
The Two HOV lanes head north to the city in the AM and then are switched and head south in the PM. They have thier own signs & exits in both directions at every exit, very cool stuff!
Reversibles are cool. To add on to kl4ng, we actually have two sets of reversibles in Seattle. The one mentioned by kl4ng (along I-5) and then the one on I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue which run West in the morning and East in the afternoon.
Too bad my commute is the exact opposite so I never get to use them! :(
The "outer loop" bridge is, it currently carries all six lanes of I-95/I-495 as seen in this video. The "inner loop" bridge is a year or two away from being finished.
Thanks, I'm glad you like them. Technichally the mixing bowl is the interchange near The Pentagon, there are several sources on the internet that confirm this.

you was in DC as soon as you went from the beltway (I-95/I-495) to 295 and a about 1/4 mile up. DC covers quite a bit of land.

Yes, the locals in Alexandria did not want a High Bridge at all, they really wanted a tunnel but it would have cost twice as much.
Freewayjim 2 years ago
Just fyi...the mixing bowl you have labeled is NOT the mixing bowl. the real mixing bowl is at 395 & 95 in springfield (end of the video).

it may go through more states, but I-40 feels longer. most of those flat midwestern states kind of blend in together!

I-95 longest north south (about 1900 miles long
I-90 actual longest (3000 miles long)
