  • where is the train tracks? at the top or something? a little bit confused here

  • west bank is the best bank! I LOVE IT!

  • There is ANOTHER Huey p long bridge in baton rouge if u want to go on it

  • 7 miles! Are u kidding me! That would be a nightmare if crossing it on a train for seven miles of shaking and creaking. They probably need to rebuild it. I have never been on the bridge myself. I.

  • Oh oh oh and do be sure to do it when it's not a holiday weekend, rush hour preferably so that ppl can get the whole effect.

  • Why didnt you show the "most fun" part the very last part where the actual trains ride along side you and you meet up with Jeff Hwy?

  • wheres ellis and nick

  • This video was added to Mobile Audit Club, found by Google Search, and it is on Page Love Line 9 of the site. Thank for vid. Stop forced injections of the innocent and compliant before court. Mobile Audit Club

  • My butt cheeks always pucker when I drive across that bridge .

  • Once a long time ago I was heading back into Metairie and was stuck in traffic at the very top. I was in the left lane and I noticed my car seemed to be swaying...I had no idea what was going on but got a little panicky. The bridge was moving to the wind...freaked me out. I guess I never noticed it before until that day. I really didn't like driving over the Huey unless I absolutely had to. I'm so glad they're widening it. Whew...lol

  • @suthentalk When a train crosses, the bridge shakes! The Huey is supposedly the sturdiest bridge around; frightening, it is.

  • I drive it every day pulling my work trailer, sometimes 2 or 3 times back and forth. I really don't see the big deal, I blow by traffic all day long and never look back. LOL, I guess that is why those that ride with me are always freaked out! Been driving it for 30 years now.

  • I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2008 and I heard so many horror stories about this bridge. A cousin of mine says he made the mistake of driving his Chevy dualie across it once...he said it was a big mistake. I might drive across it the next time I'm down there, just for the heck of it.

By the way, is there a name for this song in this video? I like the sound of it.

  • Yes, cool song, but it was on a computer that crashed a few months ago. I don't remember the name or artist. It would be great if someone could remind me as well. I drove this bridge July 4th weekend and attempted to video going east bound but it was getting dark and the video is blurry. I might post it. Construction is well under way to widen the thing. I'll be back down there in a few months and try to get a day shot. East bound the bridge zig-zags where it was a foot off when built.

  • Driving on this bridge is like racing a Martinsville its so narrow

  • I've only crossed it a few times in my life....NEVER in a big truck and most times we took the Luling bridge back home. it is a cramped and scary span to cross. It will be good once they finish the widening and improvements.

  • Nice video. However, the driver passes four cars while in the right lane. I didn't learn to drive in New Orleans, but where I come from that is illegal. Maybe not enforced, but still improper. I just hope the turn signals was used when the driver changed lanes.

  • i lived there for 33 years, and no, it wasn't illegal to pass cars while in the left lane!

  • On this bridge, people are too scared to drive in the right lane and are usually the same people who drive 20 on the 45 MPH bridge so passing on the right is the only way to avoid causing a traffic jam. It is all too common on this bridge. Trucks passing trucks is illegal on the bridge.

  • @DeltaCharlieABI: Here in Mississippi, its legal to pass on the right lanes and its illegal for slower traffic to be traveling on the left lanes. So if that was Mississippi, the people in the left lanes would be in the wrong because they're going slow in the fast lane.

  • @DeltaCharlieABI new orleans drivers are crazy, i think to get a license, you have to drive illegally, use your middle finger, speed and not use your turn signal

  • boring

  • When I was in my early 20s and worked there I drove a dump truck for a living and drove across it every day. You get use to it. With each lane being only 9 feet wide, WHEW! They are working on it now to double the width. That'll be weird. I'll have to go back and shoot a video when it is finished.

  • The scariest bridge I've ever been on. I would hate to have to cross that monster on a regular basis.

  • my dad cross it twice everyday to get to and from work

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm from New Orleans. Crossing this bridge in the middle of a rainy night with a train coming toward you is a frighening experience I'll never forget.

  • Yes, when the traffic is topped completely at peak hour, and a train passes, the entire bridge shakes vigorously. I will be going to New Orleans later this month. Hopefully I can get an east-bound video across the entire span. Be looking for it. Thank you for your comment!
