thanks for your reply. ye, there is still strong censorship in China. but compared to 20 years ago, or even 10 years ago, the situation now is much better. The government now is focus on how to develop china's economy and how to make ppl live a better life. also, western media sometimes make up stories to insult China. there is no fair media, they all have their motivation. amybe you should go to China this summer, you will see how friendly chinese ppl are. welcome to Beijing!

I am an Australian who lived in China and Tibetan parts of 'China' (Yunnan/Sichuan)from 2001-2005 and also travelled in Tibet. Missq1221- there is some material improvement, but their mental, emotional, and spiritual feeling is intensely compromised because of lack of freedom for cultural expression. When I lived there, Tibetan people would tell me each day how they suffered in this way. They would be very reluctant to tell you most likely as you are Chinese. Silence does not mean consent.

I have been there twice, and I can see the improvement. ppl in western countries always wanna foce ppl in China have the same sense of worth. Who says Western style democracy suit all countries?
