Sooooo....... people paid money to go into a movie theatre, sit down, and see a 30 second movie? people were easy to please back then. hope they at least got to watch it twice or something.
You have to think about the fact that people never saw moving pictures before, ever.
But also, more than one film would be shown in those days.
And think about how today many people are so damn fascinated with texting, which is just IM'ing with a freakin' cellphone. A century from now, people will be laughing at us for being so wrapped up in such a thing.
I get the significance of it back then, I was more just making a joke about a 30 second movie. It sure is fascinating to see one of the first movies ever. Thanks for posting!
I can easily see how this obvious horror short could be mistaken for a romance. I often mistook monsters biting their victims as kissing in vintage horror films. Thanks for the vid, but I don't thank you for the several weeks of nightmares I now face having viewed it.
I did take me a minute to decide which one was the woman. Imagine if the guy didn't have a mustache to make it simpler to guess. ;-) Thanks, Chopin! -- Matt
Thanks again! I see a lot of confused people. Maybe it'd make them less confused if you had a separate channel for these kinds of things? I dunno. I think it's awesome of you anyway!
Thanks fgor the suggestion, Magnulus. "The Happy Show!" -- the full show the airs on public access TV --has always been a variety show. I have often presented such material on the show, so this is representative of some of what one would find on the full program. -- Matt
Hi Jeffy! Not much to it, really. I am presenting one of the earliest moving picture films in existence. This is basically for those that want to see how film began. This original footage is from 1896. -- Matt

Historic too for starring the first highly paid film actor. At least I hope he was. Is that Jay Leno's great great grandmother?

She looks like Burgess Meredith with D cups. Maybe that's why he does so much talking and so little kissing. Nice mustache moves!

"Burgess Meredith with D cups." Now, there's an image I'll have to scrub from my brain. ;-) Thanks! -- Matt

I didn't think people kissed back then. I thought they slept in their own beds...hmmm...it would have better if she was sexy...
