This could almost be an episode of House, M.D.

Gaby collapsing is classic "patient of the week collapses while doing some everyday thing" opening of a House episode, right down to the activity she was doing being the key to the mystery.

Of course, since this is a kids' show, Gaby doesn't get nearly as close to death as a House patient, but still, it's like a kids' version of House.

Instead of Dr. Gregory House, it's Dr. Ghostwriter House... but Ghostwriter is nicer, of course.

Not always. Sometimes chemicals that can harm you in trace amounts aren't detectable by taste. As an example, sometimes people drink polluted water because they can't taste the pollutants in it. One would need to test the water in order to verify that the water's been poisoned. That's why public water is regularly tested.

Oh my goodness! Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this mystery arc on youtube!!!!! It's hard to pick a favorite Ghostwriter mystery arc, but "Over a Barrel" is definitely in my top 3. My other favorites would be "Who is Max Mouse?" and "Who's Who?" This was the BEST PBS show!!!

I think this was one of the last episodes of Ghostwriter that I ever saw when it aired on Noggin. :( I remember when we switched from DirectTV to Cablevison, the DirectTV actually froze and we decided that we needed to change. I remember it froze during the show "Sponk" on Noggin haha.(N-O-G-G-I-N, Noggin! and URL with Phred, Capisce? LMAO) Very sad when I couldnt see GW anymore.

wow - you actually kept a case book? I wouldn't have thought anybody did that. I was a totally GW addict as a kid, and I had a notebook, and even wore a pen necklace thing, but I never wrote the cases. Instead, I always tried to find real life cases to solve (which of course didn't happen).
