Boris Karloff did numerous vinyl records, and a year after this "Shindig" episode, he won a Grammy for his recording of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" It's a shame that this song was not recorded at the same time...
You should re-,make your video with the tape deck patched directly to your sound card! This is a total rarity! I remember the show itself, and it's amazing that you have the audio portion. Cheers!
OMG...I am stunned and happy to finally hear this...I was Bobby "Boris" Pickett's manager for 18 years and we asked EVERYBODY about this performance and all that they were able to come up with was the same show with Boris Karloff only singing "Peppermint Twist". Unfortunately, Bobby left this never believing that it was just a rumor. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! If by chance ANYBODY has the visual for this audio, please let me know at "the OFFICIAL Bobby "Boris" Pickett FB Page. Thanks! Stuart

The sound quality is amazing for such an old recording. Does anybody know how this and the Lurch song was lost or erased? I can't think of any other Shindig episode with stuff cut out of it.
@TopazDupree None of the footage on Youtube was taken from Shindig (even the one that says it's from Shindig), but were taken from other 1960's music shows. Why do you think this guy would go to all the trouble of recreating it if it were already on Youtube?
i know he was an actor and not a singer, I was talking about the record and someone saying that he was singer, I know thaty he was an Actor and not a singer. don't send me anymore comments because I just delete them.
Believe it or not, but Boris Karloff was known primarily for his acting and not for his singing career. That was really a silly comment on your part...
That's really cool that you have that on tape! But you should re-record it so it's easier to hear by plugging a recorder into the back of the reel to reel :)
All screws require torque. One might easily screw one's screw- head off. Careful manipulation of the head during screwing insures success. A head screwed tightly might snap. Beware of excessive tightening! At night, during a prolonged (or protracted) screwing: nut/head lubrication is essential...My retarded neighbor wouldn't be so handicapped if he wasn't so crippled. {Abe Vigoda reminds me of Boris Karloff.}
Old Boris, with respect intended, was not only a skillful actor, but a diabolical narrator, a humorist, a gentleman but I will always enjoy his movies, especially his sense of humor, a must for every Magickian.
I remember seeing a listing in Billboard magazine back then for a 45 single release of Boris Karloff singing a version of Monster Mash. Can anyone confirm this? Is it a false memory? Wishful thinking? In all these years of record collecting, I've never seen a copy. There MUST be a surviving recording of that release???
No, Karloff's only single was "Come My Laurie with Me/He Is There." (ANYBODY have that?) Since Pickett imitated Karloff and used "Boris" in his name, there was confusion from the start. The only horror star to record "Monster Mash" was Vincent Price, a 45 rpm for British EMI.
Yes, I remember that the Monster Mash came after Jim Dovale and the Gauchos, about where your part 1 of the show you posted ends. It was before Boris did the Pepermint Twist. I'm happy I could make this available...John
Yes! It's the missing segment that no version available contains! Very valuable. The rest of the show i've posted in three segments, and I don't know where this part fits in. There's really not much Halloween in the show without this portion. Do you remember, Lionelatwill, where this played in the video? Thanks again for a great job!

@chasspeed The Lurch song was not lost. Type "Ted Cassidy The Lurch" into the search box, and you can watch the video on YouTube.

@chasspeed I guess I was having a senior moment on this one. Ted Cassidy's performance was on SHIVAREE.

Why ruin the antiquity of it? I think it sounds just fine. Don't find good stuff like this much anymore.

My Lord.
I had no idea this existed.
I have been a Karloff fan for many many years but to hear this gave me a chill like watching a lost movie.
Incredible and thank you very much.
