I am a parent of child who through out his school life had problems and instead of my child getting the help he needed and my family needed social service blamed me. As the parent I am embarrassed to say but, I am afraid of that child. I won't allow him to return home. Although the social worker was removed from handling the case and proven to be a liar I still face the charges of neglect. On October 20, 2009, I have to attend a court hearing.

In a recent audit CPS New York City could not find the addresses for 12,500 foster children, in Wash. DC over 24% of the children in care could not be located. i too live in san antonio texas and my cild was taken for her mom and i was never given a chance and was place whit the grandma because the mother wanted her to place her .when ask case worker why they said the mother had a say so even if the mother was beating her kids and was tested for drugs ,and was on drugs.

Most of the time children who were never abused or neglected are taken and shuffled from one abuse filled placement to another. while CPS does nothing because these placements have passed their "good housekeeping seal of approval" and it would be terribly embarassing to have to charge themselves with abuse.

We investigate firs and when a call is made it takes patience to even remain on the line to report the incident. Most people dont even want to take the time. First, I work for a counseling agency that contracts with CPS. We don't take kids, but we work for those who do. You are right that there are kids taken from good homes and abused kids not taken from homes they should.

CPS has to be complete dismantled. Child abusers have to be brought to justice.. not in secret courts but in public courts. There should be more of an effort made to educate children on how to be responsible parents. Children that have been raised in the CPS system should be allowed access to their own records. And should be allowed to bring suit against caseworkers and staff that have wronged them. A child's right to an abuse-free upbringing should be made a part of the constitution.

1st, there are some parents who don't feed their kids either due to neglect, drug abuse, abuse or poverty. There are other parents who do not get help for children who have worms/parasites or eating disorders. Children aren't often taken from those homes, but would you prefer the alternative? If poverty is the problem it is an easy fix, otherwise parents may need help they don't want.

I read all these posts and wonder if childrens rights/needs are as important as the parents.

False accusations are common and waste valuable resources that could be used to protect children in real trouble. CPS has to investigate all claims. It is the law. I'm not so sure that at least some of the accusations don't come from CPS. Since you can make an allegation via an anonymous phone call, what is there to stop any CPS worker from making such a call? Besides, they are so corrupt and crooked, they could just say that someone made a complaint, when in fact there was no complaint.
