Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

This is a free world, man - for her and for you too, if you can. But Lehár didn't compose operas - his are operettas, or light operas, no serious Western posing, rather, Eastern European efforts at trying to show off lighthearted behaviour despite the difficult ages. Netrebko, being Russian, has captured this atmosphere of crying feasting, or tragic laughter, quite well.
I know it is but I'm just here to comment as being a part of the free world. She's a disgrace to the Opera. If you listen to Elizabeth Schwarzkopf's Meine Lippen sie küssen so heiß' and that's how it should be sung.
Yes, I hear your point, with Schwarzkopf too, you can't see her tits without the video ... but then again, why do so many sing it in such variation? Are all disgraces? If you're part of the free world, why isn't Netrebko, or anyone else, why do you use language like 'disgrace', or prescribe how a song should be sung? At this point, discussion breaks down because nothing goes if something is prescribed by an apostle of freedom.
It's a disgrace because she doesn't do her best and wears a revealing wardrobe to disguise her unmusical voice. In here, Netrebko sounds monotonous and has no control of dynamics. On the other operas, she sounds piercing, sharp, shallow and forces her high notes and the sound becomes tight and squeezed. You may not care about it but serious opera goers knows what good music is. She is loved by conductors as they also love shallow lang lang because he's famous from china and china has the
biggest population. There are different interpretations but Netrebko's are the most shallow. She has a plain beautiful voice (quality of a Popera) but doesn't apply musical knowledge to her singing. I am writing here like the others did before to give out thoughts that has been missed out by the media because media only give out positive feedbacks for marketing purposes. These comments are for the young and aspiring singers. You don't hear teachers telling their students to listen to Anna etc..
Except if that professor is ignorant about Music. He will tell his student to listen to Netrebko but if he's a knowledgeable one, he would tell his student to listen to the legendary singers for the techniques and musicianship. Netrebko is pure publicity from the start of her professional career. She was doing great when she was in Russia. Listen to her old video of Ruslan and Lyudmila. Some people insist that she will get better but she's getting worse every year. That's negligence of technique
you think the horrible things you say refer to and reflect upon Anna Netrebko...whereas in fact they refer to and reflect upon the horrible mind that produces them...you..and your various alter egos here on YT.
I am sorry but all this "look at me"posturing gets in the way,and although this is a Prom, her (non) acting is distracting. The aria is OK,but not much better than that.
And we are told by some judges (on other postings of this) that we should not be enjoying it so much!! I just cannot remember a better evening of entertainment than this. Even the conductor began to understand the occasion. Bravo the proms and brava Anna!
Want one.
