A nice gadget but it works only for one person walking on the stairs :) If you have more people or one is climbing up and one down, then the system gets stupid and turns the lights off or doesn't turn them at all ;)

Hey guys you read my mind with this i was actually looking for a way to illuminate the stairs to my basement that im converting into a gaming room but the thing is i want the stairs to light up as you step on them and shut off once you are off the stair if someone could contact me with advice or direct me to a kit i'll be forever grateful

@AngryCornflakes: you could put pressure sensors under the stairs unless your stairs are concrete then have multiple motion sensors at each step.

good idea.. but you still have to find the first step in the dark.. and toes will get stubbed

a pressure switch or laser distance sensors making an X in front of the stairs could work well

you could have them cross at height and connect them in series, which would make animals triggering it impossible
