  • The 420A (95+Eclipse RS/GS Coupe) and the 855A are very similar motors. The 855A has beefier rods and pistons, oil squirters and a more robust oil and water pump. However since the block designs is so similar, the pumps can be swapped. Also the 420A can be built just as strong, with the only disadvantage being displacement. In fact the 855A has a mildy camshaft that many swap for a 420A cam. The internals do not swap due to the fact the block is taller and the cranks do not interchange.

  • i hav a modded 98 rs, pushing bout 180-205hp, i beat v6 stangs wit take off and street runs. im buildng a turbo' n going to bord n sleeve ova 20, do a full rebuil, n get me a rs-t with 450+hp, oo yeah srt4 is some where relat. with the 420a, their interinals fit the 420a. happy thanks giving people' lata' nice vid by the way' p.s. 420a is a gud motor IF rebuilt right'

  • So you say the 420a is a shitty engine? Hmmm...Funny how I have an all motor setup with Wiseco 10.5:1, eagle H-beams, and some other things I'm not goin to mention, putting out 213 whp on pump gas with a custom tune in a 99 eclipse GS.

  • Dual of the 420a's! Lol. The neon has a 2.4L so a STOCK SRT-4 can own any 420a turbo(8psi) out there. I know from personal experience racing my friend's SRT. All respect to both cars. Let's not start a 420a vs 4g63, guys. DSM love, come on now.

  • @colterj22 Pretty damn close. Chrysler did help produce the eclipse along with Mitsubishi through DSM. But pretty much the same thing. The gs and rs both came with a chrysler motor.

  • i drive a 4g63..and a 420A..the 4g63 is a much better engine and has way more potential..give it bolt-ons, a 16g, and dsmlink..shitt. but dont get me wrong, the 420 can be beefed up pretty good..you just wont get as much out as the 4g63 and it is less reliable under high modification.

  • The 420a isn't a mitsubishi motor. Its a domestic Chrysler block. I have one.

  • @mitsudawid i agree with you fully! i owned a 98 gs 5spd as my first car and loved that car. i had big plans for it before it hydroplanned on the highway and then i bought a 97 tsi awd already 6bolt swapped and just got a stage 3 buschur motor going in, in 3 weeks. but the 420a is a reliable motor if you follow up on the maintenence and such. i still miss my bone stock 140hp gs alot :((
