@greattlemurs I'm from Hong Kong which is heavily influenced by Canton and it's food. You are supposed to eat the 'bowl' along with the contents. Its about the contrast of texture. clam meat (heavy flavour and soft texture), pine nut (medium flavour and medium texture) and lettuce leaf (light flavour crisp texture).
This kind of dish is very common here. Sometimes we use lightly baked buns instead of lettuce leaf. But there will be more veggies in the filling to give it a crunch.
I don't think I've ever heard almost a full minute of nothing happening narrated so enthusiastically.

The challenger's lettuce bowls really should not count as clearing the theme ingredient, if the bowl is not to be eaten with the contents!
