I am not sure about all the information you gave on this video, but I am glad you mentioned and I highly agree about your comments regarding thae fact that Dr. Oz and many companies and heath care providers limit themselves on pills and medicines as pain killers. I think not enough has been done to research about our bodies (women's body) and alternatives, instead of advising us to intake chemicals
Thank you for informing people. I was happy enough to find an alternative. I used to take 8 painkillers in my first 2 painful days. What helps me is taking natural supplements - calcium, and drinking lots of aloe vera gel throughout the the days of the cramps. I no longer need the painkillers if there is any discomfort it is very manageable compared to passing out from pain. If anyone needs any information, I'd be glad to share.
@BeeForeverNJ Your welcome I'm sure the supplements you are taking help but what is also a huge help is NOT taking the pain killers, especially ibuprofen. Ibuprofen effects on the liver are severe and the liver has a very important role in menstruation. (Especially from the Eastern Medicine view point) Good for you that you're off those 8 pills and thanks for sharing your story.
Hey Kathy I agree on the pill...what do people with financial hardships do for alternative birth control pills? ANY advice would be great...I don't agree with anything that kills things in the body that is suppose to happen...keep up the good work on informing people
Why the hell haven't doctors studied how to stop the cramps??? All they have is the same crap they use for headaches. Real effective. I mean they have so many different drugs for battling depression, but why not menstrual cramps???
I understand what your saying about all of this and will possibly try this PMS Relief pack but the extra strength walmart brand advil tends to usually work wonders for me (yes I know pain meds have ramifications but almost everything does now a days or is said to have them) along with just a good old fasioned heating pad but I'm always open to other methods as well.
HELP PLEASE:(so my periodcramps are soo bad. On Day one i cant even get out of bed, i feel like passing out. i have stomach and lower back pain Really bad. . ive tried alot to have less pain but nothing works. i am sure i need something really strong ..but what helps? any ideas. i think i heard ibuprofen thickness your bleed so its bad to take.. i dont remember if i heard that about ibuprofen. then agian i heard to take ibuprofen before i get my period to relax my muscles. HELP? does that work?
in 16 and my period pain are horible i dont go to school or even eat for 3 days hen im on my period i tired every thing i got from google nothing worked then i ended up not being able to do my exam and vomited every second i ended up vomiting bile and i when to the doctors and recomeded the pill but now i get pain in my stomoch everday since using the pill is it ok to stop or just side effects
@mekki101if If you have stomach pains daily since starting the pill, then there is something seriously wrong. Daily pain (anywhere in the body) is the body telling you there is a problem. Listen to your body, go off the pill and see if the pain stops. If it does clearly that was the wrong medication for you. There are much safer and more effective methods to regulating menstrual cramps than the pill. My ebook explains them all. Email me if you would like a copy.
I've just gone on the pill. The instruction leaflet says that it very slightly increases the chances of breast cancer after 5 years of use. I only plan to be on it for a maximum of 3. I'm also almost 20, my periods have never regulated themselves, and they are painful. I remember a few times when they made me pass out, and I had to be sent home from school. Alternative remedies and medicines, by definition, don't work =/
My periods made me anaemic, and the doctor suggested the pill.
@lilmissfoxygirl It is a personal choice but there are safer alternatives. PMS RELIEF HERB PACK does work. Combination of Chinese herbal medicine has been used for over 2000 years. Nothing can possibly last that long and be passed from generation to generation if it didn't work. BTW, unless your doctor is trained in something other than Western allopathic medicine they don't know about alternatives. The pill is all they have to offer you.
BY THE WAY ALL THAT HERBAL CRAP DOESN'T WORK. TRUST ME I WOULD KNOW. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING. I EVEN WENT TO A HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST AND ALL THAT CHINESE HERB SHIT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. GET OVER IT NOW A DAYS EVERYTHING CAUSES CANCER. I'M ON THE PILL AND MY LIFE IS BACK TO NORMAL. I'VE BEEN THROUGH HELL AND BACK AND I'M ONLY 15. BASICALLY YOU CAN SUFFER TERRIBLE CRAMPS OR GET ON THE PILL. IF YOU'RE THAT AFRAID OF CANCER YOU'VE GOT ISSUES. MAYBE YOU SHOULD STAY INDOORS CUS THE SUN CAUSES CANCER!!
@winterwhitehammies Sorry you are in so much pain and sorry you didn't try PMS RELIEF HERB PACK. It does work! Over 2000 years of history does not lie.
@PMSRelief I did try the pms relief herb pack. My friend's mom had it and gave me a lot. It did absolutely nothing. Are you telling me my doctor is wrong for putting me on the pill? I never even wanted to go on the pill because I'm only 15 and not sexually active but I was in danger of becoming anaemic. I frequently went to the ER because I would go into shock when my cramps acted up. My periods lasted 2-3 weeks EVERY month. The only way to regulate it is with birth control. I've been through it
@winterwhitehammies Wow, self-loathing in action. I just saw you are fifteen, so I won't say much more other than may you be released from all your suffering. Oh, and Chinese herbs do work, but they can take several months.
@jvaish how am I "self-loathing"? I am a 15 year old girl going through puberty and sadly my hormones are extremely out of balance, I was told by my doctor. I am "released from my suffering", since I started birth control. Sorry, I don't have several months to use Chinese herbs that might not work for me when it will affect my health (I was in danger of becoming anemic), my education (If you read, I was unable to go to school), and my emotional health ( I was constantly crying and having mood
@jvaish Continued. mood swings, because my hormones were out of balance. You don't know who I am or what I went through for 2 years. I had to do summer school to make up for the missed work I had in 8th and 9th grade. I had to quit cheerleading because of my health status, cheerleading was everything to me. Imagine being a teen and not being able to do what you love because of your hormones. I was constantly in the ER because I would pass out from blood loss and pain.
@jvaish continued. I am extremely happy with Birth Control and have been on it for months, I am healthy and no longer need to worry if I will pass out in public while on my period. I hope if you have a daughter, that she will not have to go through what I went through because it has honestly scarred me. I hope you have a healthy wonderful life. (:
@winterwhitehammies Well, I don't know your suffering but as someone who has had his own share of suffering with autoimmune diseases, i do know suffering. While it's good that you are free from your pain, I have treated many older women (I am an acupuncturist) who do regret taking the pill, simply because when they wanted to get off it to get pregnant, their cycles were not regulated still. And although I have not treated many women for the problem, I have treated them successfully with herbs
@winterwhitehammies cont'd and acupuncture, so there cycles were regulated and they were able to conceive. I also know many of my colleagues have achieved the same. BCP does cause problems, and there is a risk of cancer, as Cathy stated. You might want to consider this and do your research, as you won't always be 15. Whatever you choose, good luck...cheerleader ;)
THIS IS BULLSHIT! I am 15 and my menstrual cramps are so excruciating that I've been to the ER numerous times. My legs go completely numb and I begin to vomit. I've been to the Doctor and she says there is physically nothing wrong with me. I've taken every pain reliever and arthritis medicine out there. NOTHING WORKS. I even get terrible cramps when I'm ovulating! It's so terrible I can't even go to school. Plus my periods are very irregular and heavy. IF YOU WERE SMART GO ON THE PILL IT WORKS!!
I like what you have to say but I'm kinda worried now coz Im already 20 n my periods still havent regulated n literally reappear every 2-3 months and I'm afraid I won't be able to have children and I've been told I need to go on the pill to regulate it... so its like hmmm children or cancer? :-(
And the pain meds I was on for cramps worked wonders....but I don't know if they were contraceptives...I should get other ones.
@6loveutube You have many more options than just "children or cancer". There are so many effective methods of birth control beyond the "Pill". But since this is not my subject matter I suggest doing more research on your options. Your periods can regulate using Chinese herbal medicine. If you would like a reference for an Acupuncturist trained in Chinese herbs I'm happy to provide a reference. Pain med's have ramifications so be careful.
You're welcome, glad it helped. Regarding the mini pill, progestin is a synthetic version of the naturally-occurring hormone progesterone. Known common side-effects are break through bleeding, weight gain and bone mineral density loss is a concern being studied. Our body's hormone levels naturally fluctuate all month long. Progesterone increases for approx. 2 weeks of each month, not 4 weeks and certainly does not stay consistent each and every day of the month. Artificial is artificial.
Thanks for the great vid :) it really helped me and my friends make the right decision. Just a question, do you know if progesterone only birth control pills (aka the mini pill) are bad too?
I've had bad cramps since I started menstruating. None of those alternative remedies worked. At all. I've been taking BCP for one year now and I feel great. Just sayin.
@dmescarlett Just saying what? What alternatives did you try and how long did you take them for? If you post something like this, it's best if you get specific. The person you help may be yourself.
@xxSeddieBarbie Gas pains are not uncommon. I would recommend trying PMS Relief Herb Pack. It works and is money back guaranteed. What do you have to loose, besides the gas?
Don't worry about it. I guess I was just hoping for some new insight--I was out of place to express myself that way. I do appreciate your offer, thank you. I am currently looking into natural ways to help my symptoms. I think more exercise, relaxation, and an improved diet will help me at least on some level. I can't afford specialists.
I am glad people like you are making efforts to get young women off hormone altering meds.
I appreciate that you encourage women to seek alternative to birth control as a means of preventing period cramps, but the alternatives you named were not very helpful, especially for women suffering from dysmenorrhea, which is the worst pain imaginable. There's a difference between regular period cramps and dysmenorrhea that I think a lot of women take for granted (women who don't have dysmenorrhea).
@ultragashinferno Sorry that alternative practitioners haven't helped you. I know many Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Naturopathic doctors and herbalists. If you would like a recommendation for someone in your area I'm certain I could find someone who could help you.
take a hot long shower + don't wash your hair + dress warm + 1 tylenol for the first day if you really really need! REMEMBER Tylenol all the time isn't good either... i survived just fine!
Now i am a mommy and no more cramps !! WONDERFUL !
i actually do not like microwave ! A+ to you !
DO you think we should have everything bma free !!?? that would be much better !
All I have to say is : a good orgasm relieves cramps. not politically correct, but certainly easier than quitting meat, milk, cans and plastic bottles.
@lol23ist Tylenol and ibuprofen both have their own side-effects. You can read more here. ww w, pacherbs.com/archives/1736
Just last week, Tylenol lowered their recommended dosage on their labels to prevent liver damage. Overdosing on Tylenol is the number one cause of liver transplants in the U.S. I prefer not to use OTC pain relievers, they hide they symptoms temporarily but do nothing for the root cause of the problem. Herbs can and do treat the root of the disharmony.

I am a registered midwife and I totally agree with what you have on your video cathy. @ckoernee Dang Gui, or some people call it Tang Kuei is an excellent herb for women. It is considered the queen herb for women for centuries. Traditional Chinese Medicine has used this herb in combination with others for centuries for many gynecological maladies. It is included in the PMS Relief Herb Pac by Pacific Herbs. This formula is guaranteed to stop your menstrual cramps and pain. wwww, pacherbs, com
im 13 and i need something to get rid of my cramps, or at least reduce them, fast. Lately my periods have been getting quite un bearable, to the point that i can barely move. Please help.
Since you've already had bad side effects from the pill and now severe pain in your hands and arms why would you want to continue on this drug? If your doctor isn't addressing these issues get a new doctor fast!!! Call me, I can help you with the debilitating menstrual cramps. 877-818-9990
I'm 19 and just started the pill again. I was on it from 16-18, stopped because I hated the side effects. I started again as my periods have returned to being completly debilitating - not just cramps, I am useless for a week. I can't write the whole list of symptoms here. And recently I started getting severe pains in my hands and arms that continued after my period stopped as a result of the damage my period caused. Doctors outright lie to me about side effects of the pill. Any advice?
Also ur a herablist umm ok then xplain y or how u dk that sheesh women w bg mouths hahahaz also drz dnt prescribe the pill to just anyone woman 4 that purpose, they must test the subject on a few things first, just like they did w me
What kind of doctorz do they have in america, seriously u yankx r idoitz as the pill isnt hurting u its a med made from natural herbz and etc, wat ur reffering to is something like ru46 now that dangerous look lady, nah doctor if qualified wud pprescribe something if the paitent or the paientz associate paid ok, dnt blame the doctor 4 doin his/her job, ok and i take the pill aott i dnt has ne problemz
I'm currently tryinb codeine phosphate as well go tackle the pain and that's not working. Herbal remedies and accupressure is expensive, and for me it is completely ineffective.
@PMSRelief At no cost to my health. As I said on a previous comment, I've been on the pill for 9 years now, and I get health checks every time I go to the doctors for a new pack, which is twice a year and I'm perfectly healthy. Plus, I also use the pill as a means of contraception, I'm not willing to use just condoms alone. Also, my pills are free and can be free for the rest of my life, the PMS Relief Herb Pac won't be.
@PMSRelief I've tried herbal remedies for all sorts of things, many things other than PMS too, and I'm not convinced. The last herbal remedy I tried was for weight loss and speeding up my metabolism. It was an aid to weight loss by basically making you throw up after taking them.
I was seriously considering the pill for my menstrual cramps but since watching this video I have changed my mind. While I was looking up ways to alleviate menstrual cramps I kept coming across sites that suggested the pill but now I am not to sure. So I plan on looking more into the effects of the pill on your health if you use it for menstrual cramps over a long period of time.
I tried the pacherbs pms/cramp relief and I must say it does help with painful cramps. I still take ibuprofen, hylands cramp rx, pms tea and add the pacherbs and it helps with the terrible pain. on a scale of 1-10 i used to be a 12 with all of the above I am about a 5, so there is an improvement. there really isn't anything on the market like this product so this is an exciting development. thanks!
@magildeny Your welcome. I would agree completely there is nothing on the market like PMS Relief Herb Pac. The herbs have been proven effective in international studies on thousands of women. Herbs have the right chemicals your body need and over time, with adjustments to your diet you can have pain free periods. PMS Relief is packaged without fillers in a stay fresh, air tight PACket which maintains the freshest of our all natural product. The more you use it the less you will need it.
Dr. Marisa Weiss a breast cancer doctor says, "“The breast is the only organ in the body to actually fully form, and over a 10-year period of time – from ages 8 to 18, and into your 20s – and that is when what you’re eating, drinking, breathing in and using are the actual building blocks. And that’s when you’re laying down the foundation of your future breast health…as soon as the breasts are made, they’re ready to respond to these chemicals. ” Keep-A-Breast
Feb. 9 (Bloomberg Businessweek) -- Pfizer Inc. agreed to pay about $330 million to resolve claims that its Prempro menopause drug caused breast cancer, in the first large-scale settlements in eight years of litigation.Pfizer, the world’s largest drugmaker, will settle more than 2,200 lawsuits alleging the company’s Wyeth unit hid Prempro’s cancer risks, the people said.
This menopause drug is the same artificial estrogen and hormones used in oral contraceptives.
Nobody should have to be bed ridden for days because of menstrual cramps and no one should feel like their monthly cycle is similar to labor pains. I have personal experience with both of those types of pain. I can say from experience it can be horrendous. Believe me when I tell you there is hope and pain reduction in using Chinese herbs and Chinese medicine. Find a local Acupuncturist and learn more at PacHerbs.com
I could not agree more. I was prescribed the pill for heavy bleeding/cramps. My periods became unpredictable and I didn't note a change good enough to justify me taking this little pill of synthetic hormones everyday. I lasted about four months and decided to research other ways.
I am NOT against hormonal birth control. Her body, her choice. But, I feel like it's the answer for everything now. Nothing else is being explored. That's just not okay.
Hate to point out the largely genetic basis of breast cancer, but whatever I'm sure pseudo-science will save me from debilitating cramping, nausea, headaches and all the other fun symptoms associated with menstraution.
The pill is an amazing invention which has helped millions of women! Don't try to make a conspiracy out of it.
Incidently, the ovulation suppression of the pill has been shown to reduce the risk of ovarian cancers... but hey, why ruin a good story?
Great information. This will make a grown women re-think about using birth control pills for herself! Too many chemicals and toxins are in our meds, food, water, household, and beauty products now. It's best to back to old fashion practices.
Great info. Hope the world sees this!!!! Dr. Oz is no wizard. He should step out from behind the curtain and watch the video and hear what one of his contemporaries has to say about breast cancer and birth control.
Bravo Cathy. The more we discover about the toxic reactions in medications to subdue symptoms; will change medicine in the decades to come. In the mean time, now, right now, we as conscious consumers need to demand solutions to the underlying causes of the health conditions that we face not just symptomatic treatment.
It is an excellent video...since I did take oral contraceptives when I was young and HRT when I got older and am now fighting breast cancer, your video is timely. I was at a health fair this past spring discussing aromatherapy and I had more people come ask me about something they heard on Dr. Oz' show. I brought out my PDR to see if what he said would be appropriate for them. 100% of the time it was contraindicated. I hope your video goes viral and I will do my part to help in that.
I am not sure about all the information you gave on this video, but I am glad you mentioned and I highly agree about your comments regarding thae fact that Dr. Oz and many companies and heath care providers limit themselves on pills and medicines as pain killers.

There's a difference between regular period cramps and dysmenorrhea that I think a lot of women take for granted (women who don't have dysmenorrhea).
ultragashinferno 5 months ago
@ultragashinferno Sorry that alternative practitioners haven't helped you. I know many Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Naturopathic doctors and herbalists. If you would like a recommendation for someone in your area I'm certain I could find someone who could help you.

All I have to say is : a good orgasm relieves cramps. not politically correct, but certainly easier than quitting meat, milk, cans and plastic bottles.

I'm confused
So is it okay to take pain killers like Tylenol and ibuprofen?
Just not birth control pills right?
lol23ist 7 months ago

I also believe (WHO, 2002) that 82% of women suffer menstral disorders and 61% is attributed by the sanitary napkin they choose. OCP not the answer are you able to contact me through my website so we can talk more about this?

Any advice?

@outforbl00d Free at what cost to your health?? Long term there are serious risks.
PMSRelief 9 months ago

I still take ibuprofen, hylands cramp rx, pms tea and add the pacherbs and it helps with the terrible pain. on a scale of 1-10 i used to be a 12 with all of the above I am about a 5, so there is an improvement. there really isn't anything on the market like this product so this is an exciting development. thanks!
