One does not have to agree with the act that those 2 wanted to do, like it or not, it's part of the freedoms we have in America. We have the right to protest our gov't among other things. @MrFluffysteel If you want to get technical, it actually goes against federal law. Title 4 Section 1 of the US Federal Code deals with proper treatment of the American flag. What these guys were attempting to do-indeed even throwing it on the ground- is in violation of those federal statutes. The only difference is that their is virtually no enforcement of those laws, and no penalty, as the Supreme Court has ruled that penalizing such acts would violate the 1st Amendment. It's still a law though

I know this because as an Eagle and Boy Scout I have done this ceremony with my troop. The conditions for a flag to be burned is when it is tattered and/or torn and should not be flown. This is the correct way to address flag burning. This is something that we as citizens should address. It's not something for the law to handle.
Respect must be earned. And Old Glory has earned mine.
