These ol tapes are wonderful! Of course it was as phony as todays "exhibitions"...but at least in the old days, the "wrestlers" DID actually know some holds: remember the "hammerlock", the "figure 4 leg lock", and the always "dangerous" "abdominal stretch", which invariably ended the match????? The matches were usually "three falls for a 10-minute lime limit"...and most of the action took place INSIDE the ring...and without the use of ladders, tables, or skanky-looking female "assistants"...
Its great to see "The King of Men" classie Freddie Blassie in his early years of wrestling. FB one of the top grapplers of all time & as he often said "Listen You Pencil Neck Geeks" came to Australia in the early 70's . Lord have mercy when Freddie took them apart in Brisbane /Sydney or Melbourne.Great days God Bless Freddie.
There were few that could handle the mic like Red. He was the first manager i remember. with Hans mortier & Gorilla Monsoon. With the Gilligan twist I can see how Classy Freddie developed his bad knees!
Holy cow! They each broke out of the other's finisher. I believe that's TV-star Rose Marie, from the audience, screaming in the background. She did love Blassie.
Weird how Blassie was out bleeding; strange. Berry was also manager of the original Kangaroos...

When Blassie started his career in the late 40s he called himself 'Sailor' Freddie Blassie.
I think ref Joe Varga is the father of Count Billy
Varga.
Wild Red was a champion (lighter divisions)
in the late 30s

This has got to be early to mid 1950s. Blassie changed his hair color to blonde later and became the most hated heels ever in wrestling history.
