I have been using my Compaq SR2014HM since 2006. Still runs fine, but, I can't play certain games with the render too high unless I feel like lagging about... So I went out and bought an ASUS m5a78l-m lx plus, amd phenom II x6 1090t, 4gb kensington hyperdrive something 1866 mhz ram, Once I get an windows 7 ultimate, I will finally set my render to far and conquer minecraft!!! lol
I built a computer for under 500$ i used i5 processor 180$, asus p8p67 matx 135$, coolermaster 343 elite 40$, evga gt520 55$, pny 4gb ddr3 24$, dvd burner 20$, andcoolermaster 500 watt psu 40$, and 500gb samsung 7200rpm 55$
I built a good build just under $700 I used: AMD Phenom ii x4 955: $124.99. Msi 880 E45 AM3: $99.99. Kingston HyperX 2x4GB RAM: $44.06. ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB: $97.99. 500w CoolerMaster eXtreme PSU: $39.99. W7 Home: $99.99. Cooler Master Elite 430 Case: $42.99. Seagate 1TB 7200rpm: $68.99 and added a Hyper 212 for just 24.99 :D
i got my pc (hp) in sold for 300 dollar.. weee, and the monitor (in sold ) (27 inch led) for 260 $!! and my video card ( in sold) 50 $ gt 430 Aw yeah and some Dell speakers for Five dollars!
@SmackDaRayOutOfYou to run your computer you do not need a pci card, it's just used for wireless and other stuff like usb ports etc, all you need is : processor, motherboard, ram, case, power supply and graphics card if you wanna play games/look at HD videos cuz onboard is just not gonna cut it
nice vid, i am new to building pcs and im just about to start building my first rig but im not sure what power supply i need? what amount of watts will i need? does it matter? or does it depend on how many other things im running off my motherboard? my motherboard is:
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
i will be using the HAF 912 plus case, 8GBs of ddr3, AMD phenom II X4 995 BE a 1GB graphics card etc pls help
@nigleywigley there is power supply calculators on the internet, but i would say you need about 500w, 700w to be on the safe side and if you are ever going to upgrade
Nah I know how to do really good cable manage Kent I was trying to say I hope that the cable management in the build in this video was cleaned up because it's not good at all I'm not trying to be a dick but the computer will last longer and run better with better management.
Could have saved more money with going with a microatx board that has 4200 radeon series integrated graphics, which wouldnt, need you to buy a graphics card. also could have got ddr2 ram.
@TJbatmankillaTJ yeah as long as everything is compatible with each other which may take some reasearch to do not shown in video lol, and making sure you have room to upgrade on your pc in their future
thumbs down because: No mention at all of airflow, no mention of cable management, no mention of holding parts by the EDGES (especially CPU), and also no mention of the fact that buying PC components for this cheap can potentially lead to said parts failing (so check reviews, etc). Might seem common sense - but not to someone who has never built a pc
@matZero You do realize that 1MW of electricity is = to 1,000,000 watts. I really doubt your computer takes the amount of energy that could run an entire neighborhood.
Just bought Samsung 1TB hard drive for $57, also go with a modular PSU, and a case with the hard drives truned 90 degress, so that it's easier to add/remove without being worried about hitting other parts connected to the motherboard
atleast now i know what my brother did wrong while building mine... instead of spending 500 euro on one i had to buy a new one of 700 euro that was prestalled and everything.. but
this was really interesting and gives me a boos of building my own next time!
I built a Q9550 system with 8GB RAM just over 2 years ago, so I won't be upgrading for a while. I might swap out the motherboard though because the Gigabyte EP45 board sucks (BIOS is really slow, takes about 30 seconds before it starts booting the OS).
If you want more performance, go for at least a 550W PSU, 750 is better.
That processor is cheap cuz it's crap. If you want performance, look at intels core 2/quad for the performance/price.
Install ram AFTER CPU & fan, trust me.
The best $500 you can put towards a computer are for Processor, Mother Board, and Graphics Card. Then get some decent ram, a case, a HD, and your set. Also keep in mind, it's possible to reuse your current case and HD, You will need to reinstall the OS though.
@stalker7d7 That CPU is just fine, AMD's Athlons are still great budget chips, miles ahead of an equivalently priced Celeron (you will strugle to get a core i3 on a par with the Athlon's pricing). Also just because the PSU has more power won't improve the performance atall, 350W is ample for that build even allowing for future HDD upgrades and such.
Just curious, why install the RAM after the CPU, makes no difference...
@fuzzyfox92 For the PSU, keep in mind that I said for those who want more performance. No, it won't add more performance to your system directly, but it lets you add more and faster components. And you'll want some leeway between how many watts your pulling, and what your psu can do. If your pulling 300W from a 350W psu, it's gonna die sooner than if you had a 550W psu.
Install the RAM after the cpu FAN. Much easier to install the fan that way.
For ~ the same price they paid for that cpu and motherboard, you can get a bundle(cpu & mobo) with a triple core and even quad core cpu. Little extra cash can get you an intel core 2 duo.
@matZero Just a triple? I can top that easy. This was on the first mobo&cpu page of tigerdirect : ECS A740GM-M (V7.0) AMD 740G MB w/ X4 9750 CPU @ $113 dollars, with $13 rebate as well so $100 dollars.
And that's a quad core. There's also a triple core bundle for $75.
And that was the first page of the first website I looked at. There are much better deals than what he showed you in this video.
@stalker7d7 i dont see why not, theres still plenty of people watching the video.. for example YOU.. asshole. Besides im pretty sure compatibility issues are still an issue a year later and im not talking about THESE parts specifically i just want to know how to tell wether or not two parts will work together and what issues i should watch out for when buying pieces.
@PhenomenalHeadShot I didn't watch it tho, I just came to reply to a response to my comment...
And here's what you watch out for. Make sure processor and motherboard are compatible, both using 1155 or 1156, etc... Then read the mobo specs and get ram... not too hard.
@thenickolfcfolife Well, that really depends on how much money you want to spend. But the best bang for your buck right no is probably going to be an intel i5 2500k and a motherboard that supports what you want. newegg, com has a lot of great bundles you can search through, if you find the processor of your choice, and then scroll down and there should be a bundle suggestion, with an option to browse more bundles.
If you want more help send me a private message and ill do what I can.
@EphraimRodrigez Check your processor. If it's still sufficient to run later games, then keep it, if not, upgrade to something more compatible. Upgrade your vid card.
For extra, add more rams.
Be careful about upgrades. Make sure your current power supply unit can handle the new parts, or you'll have to upgrade that too. Also be sure to check how efficient your computer is cooling, or you'll have to upgrade/buy the cooling system.
