  • I wonder if there's a way to put a muffler on a mesocyclone? That would reduce the intensity of tornadoes.

  • Are you serious? all this expensive intercepting equipment and data monitoring ability, topping it off with a $50k radar and NOWHERE has the raw data been posted. Its like it really all was just for show. you cant even upload your videos in HD??????????????????????

  • @rogershrubbery11 Why would they post the raw data? That's a LOT of information that the vast majority of the public doesn't have the slightest clue on how to read.

  • whats that noise

  • @SnIIpzDesigns

    a tornado siren?

  • @bitchze I thought so was not sure thanks

  • @SnIIpzDesigns Yeah our siren is freaky (I live here in town).

  • Wow idiots 7:00 guy says: Power line! *car keeps driving* (and if you look closely the powerline is actually on them rofl. wanna die?

  • D:

  • lol @ 2:06

Dumbass: We could try to get closer

Smart Guy: It's coming right this way, you can see it.

    DERRRRRRRRRRR

  • Maybe it was the rapture . . . kind'a funny how the bible thumping red-necks keep getting their asses handed to them by the lord.

  • my city had a tornado yesterday, and rainshowers were expected today. so when i heard the sirens in the video i thought they were outside. still tramatized

  • very nice video was so ne turbolende hunts have been very, I would like to sometimes see a real tornado, on the one side is a different tornado beautiful, and so destructive of greetings from Germany

  • 9 people need to intercept on foot

  • Hands down, The best part of this video is the 1000T wind up at 3:05!

  • @Saucenballs sorry to burst your bubble. I live in Kirksville and this tornado happened in a sparsely populated area of Kirksville. If it had hit about a mile or two south of where it did there would have been a lot more damage and more lives lost.

  • Its kinda cool to see storm chasers in Missouri! I live 1 hour from Kirksville... My dad went to college there and played football. Then got into the NFL... GO PURPLE AND WHITE!

  • Wow, anger much?

  • Where Can I find Into the Storm Book?

  • hey thats close to where i lives hehehe

  • that is sooo cool

  • why nobody point the camera to the sky..y would like to see the air circulation on that angle.

  • liars. why didnt you shoot outside the window while you were in it ? buncha hooligans.

  • I love the way tornado chasers get all orgasmic chasing tornadoes. lol

Why does the driver holler so much?

Yeah, I know it's an adrenaline rush...but still, the driver guy is annoying as hell!

  • @unconventional Means more hollering means more excitement,

more excitement means more viewers, more viewers means

more sponsers, more sponsers means more money. Tune

into Discovery Channel last fall for even more hollering!

  • @crambone20002000

    Ummm....yeah....sure.....okay......whatever.

The driver still sounds like a little girlie man to me!

  • that cool

  • "shit! it's right here. better shut the window." lol XD you guys are awesome

  • If that tornado was a guy I would shag it ;)

  • Like I said, when someone close to you dies in that natural so called beauty, you will understand where I'm coming from.

  • I'm glad you all got the good footage. I wish you would try to refrain from using words like "nice" tornado. If one of you or your crew is killed in a tornado you will understand where i'm coming from.

  • They used "nice" to describe the natural beauty of the tornado.

More people are killed by humans every year, and you don't see people discouraging the use of "nice" to describe a person, now do you?

  • It's so cool to see you guys in my town! My husband was at work at the time and saw it coming, but they didn't realize it was a tornado because of all of the rain until it was really close. Thank goodness they weren't hurt. Sorry for the 3 that lost their lives.

  • I ran into a rain-wrapped tornado last year and did not realize that's what it was until I was too close. That's why they are so dangerous. Folks who don't know what they're looking at can run right into them.

  • @auntstacey123 yes, especially the f1 and f2 variety, because they dont always pick up enough debris to be visibly outlined among the precipitation. All of the direct "intercepts" by chasers have been of this variety..low powered f-1 and f-2 tornadoes..When I see an F4 F5 penetration, I will be impressed. This tornado was as weak as some watersdpouts Ive seen here on the Gulf Coast.

  • Could you move after the powerline landed on the car or did you have to wait for someone to come and move it?

  • I like you guys I am fans of you!! including storm chasers.

  • you guys in Canada have the aurora borialus?

  • Thunderbolt 1000T.

  • luckly i was on the other side of town

  • i remember this day, i was standing on my porch when everything turned green and i freaked out, i knew the tornado was where my friend lived and i went to text her asking if everything was ok..... she had her house destroyed. man crazy day. cried alot.

  • i mean alberta neither i wish we had on it would be so cool

  • Comment removed

  • too bad we dont have it in BC Canada

  • @infernuse

thank god we dont have it iin ontario canada! (we did have 14 tornados on aug 20. yes different ones. first tornado in 100 years!!!)

  • interesting to see the raw video after seeing the televised stuff.

  • The look @ 6:05 is priceless haha. "I hope this guy in the back is cool with possibly getting sucked up in this tornado..."

  • i bet shawn that he could have been in there lol

  • Dominating-Dominating-Dominating!! :)

  • i hate that annoying ass guy!

  • MY BDAY!!!

  • damn, that's awesome

  • I was on the other end of Kirksville when this happened so I saw it come through in real time. It's so surreal to see it from where all the action is. From where I was it just looked like a scary cloud... I helped my dad & his coworkers at Home Depot (which is on the same end of town as where the tornado was, a cornfield away from the car dealer that was hit) He was standing on the freaking roof with a couple of his buddies watching it when it hit those houses... I cried when I saw the ruins...

  • This is always so cool to watch, but so, so hard. My friend Alicia was one of the two fatalities from this storm. I always wonder what she was doing when it hit, and if this is how others feel when they see footage of a tornado hitting their home town...

  • does anyone know what date this will be on this fall?

  • season starts October 19th.

  • Comment removed

  • no i meant what episodewill it will be on storm chasers

  • it was on tonight 3rd episode

  • yeah there was alot of damage from that tornado me and some firefighters are near kirksville and we went and helped familys clean up whats left of their belongings it wasnt a really powerful tornado but it still leveled houses and did significant damage, i have a picture where it picked up a car in a dealership lot and threw it over 50 ft across the road

  • You pussy. A tornado creates an adrenaline thrill and fulfills a wonderment about natuure's forces for people that have learned to overcome irrational fears and learn how to study the beast. No one likes death and destruction but tornadoes go wherever they want to and these guys are recording information and giving confirmations for warnings that save lives. What the fuck does killing whales have to do with chasing tornadoes4?. Damn, you're an idiot.

  • @Nidgeynoo

we'll be laughing when a tornado comes and sucks the shit outta your ass

  • I have always wanted to see a tornado. I live in Louisiana so we don't get many of them and when we do they're usally small.

  • insane

  • in case anyone is wondering this tornado happened on the northern edge of town and the town is thankful is didn't happen any farther south because there would have been a lot more deaths

  • yesterday a tornado touched down somewhere i forget where anyway i wa sin my basement and we were under a tornado watcha nd my mom comes running down with my dog and i'm freaked out and i asked what's going on and she said idk there are sirens going off and i was worried about my rabbit and she made me go in the laundry room and stay there with my dog while she went to go get my rabbit and i'm on the phone screaming at my brother and I was just so freaked out

  • Reed is the man ! :D

  • this year was CRAZY with tornadoes. my hometown got sideswiped by tornadoes two days in a row

  • i was in this tornadoe and our house got hit look it up on the damage

  • I am sorry for your loss. I hope that your family survived this tragedy. People need to stop making light of storms like this.

  • I love watching these videos, I would love to be a storm chaser, it just looks fascinating. But the camera work makes me nauseous after watching 2 or 3 of these videos in a row. I wish there was some way to hold the camera more steady.

  • you all are so stupid! My friend gus was KILLED in that monster!

  • Ohh I heard about that. We went to the bank and there were tons of flowers at his desk!

  • My deepest condolences to you & your friend's family. Unfortunately cell phones & camcorders have glorified these killers & made idiots think it's cool to follow one of these around just to get a pic or video. Storm chasers do this for a living & you noticed that they're prepared, know what to look for & when to stop.

  • WOW freaking scary O_O

  • what did the anemometer on the top of the vehicle read? At the height of the intensity aneyway.

  • ugh... I wouldn't ever be brave enough to 'chase' tornadoes, period, let alone get that close to one!

  • lol unlike you ive ALWAYS wanted to chase a tornado.. i had the chance when a tornado touched down a half mile away from the highway i was on about 2 months ago.. it looked like it was turning into a F4 it was fucking huge so i just floored it. didnt bother. it was half mile away hail and 100mile an hour winds i didnt bother staying there but i got some on tape..

  • ALL THAT FUCKIN YELLING

  • Awesome video even though I could have done without all the yelling.

  • i hear a thunderbolt

  • a power pole snaps at 6:28! >.>

  • Omg he had his camera down during it. >.>

  • not exactly I think. Reed hadn't his camera down during the intercept. simply he didn't put that in the video. if we will watch the intercept, we must watch the third season of the discovery channel TV show storm chasers this fall. ;)

  • Yep, this was like a preview of what we're going to see this fall. Can't wait!

  • yer such a drama queen reed... =)

  • Wow, thats crazy, thanks for posting.

  • Comment removed

  • Wouldn't be a Timmer production if there wasn't a "BACK UP!". You did not disappoint.

  • I don't know if anyone answred you MissMnoe yet but here goes. An F4 is a pretty powerfull Tornado. Its not as powerfull as an F5 but its the next to being the most powerfull. Also it don't relly matter the size or what is rated. What matters is the wind speed.

  • A wedge is a tornado with a particular shape, Like this \/ . And yes, do these guys have modified vehicles that create down force? F1 technology maybe? I've seen heavier vehicles than this thrashed by weaker tornadic forces!

  • wtf is a wedge... i jus wanna know ??

  • V formed shape, if I'm not entirely incorrect

  • that wasnt a wedge. and a wedge is wider than it is from ground to cloud base high.

  • i would have crapped my pants if i was inside a tornado!!!

    you guys got some cajones!

  • If that was a strong tornado, they would have been like "oh s*** we're flying!!!!"

  • omg i remember that! the sky turned BLACK it seriously looked like night

  • crazy

  • daaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmm

  • Wow that was awesome you guys, I am glad you made it through that without injury.. Wish Vortex2 could have been there to catch that one, bet the info from it would have been good.

  • No storm chaser is entirely safe.

  • ya its a f4

  • What kind of tornado is it? F4??

  • it was an EF1 or EF2 tornado that hit Kirksville. I should know I live in Kirksville

  • i live in kirksville as both, and it was both and ef 1 and ef 2

  • whoooooaaa

  • These guys could be seeing a tornado roping out and they would still call it huge!

  • Daisy it's about 4 hours from Joplin

  • I love those guys for making great videos...but that guy's voice is really annoying.

  • How far is Kirksville from Joplin?

  • Kirksville is near the iowa border Joplin is below I-70

  • I agree with Twister244 about the Dominator not being able to withstand winds of 150+mph but as long as they are actually getting good data that could help save lives and make storm chasing even easier (tornado genesis info and short term forecasting improvements) then I say rock on Reed and try and stay safe!

  • They were on the edge. If they were centered they would have been upside down. Losers that get in here and post/whine are laughable, not to mention those that think they know what the fuck they are talking about. Losers...

  • Were you talking to me owenowen?

  • no, According to the data collected, it was rated EF1-EF2, not RELLY that strong. IF it was EF3 or greater, they would of been flipped. DON'T Hate on TVN for the things they do. I bet your to afraid to do this. Go die in a fire.

  • They just intercepted A 150+ EF3 in Wyoming.

  • these guys are really good

  • crazy shit man!!

  • I know these guys are good, I mean REALLY good chaser/researchers, but still, there's something that just tells me they're going to die doing this. A noble death it would be, but all the same, they get REAL data that we need for the science !!!!

  • You are one lucky b*****d, you know that right? You have more luck than a leprechaun sitting in a field of 4-leaf clovers. Great footage, Reed. You did great!

  • Can you share some of this great research with the rest of us?

  • Twister244 STFU loser, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Have you seen the mods to the SUV with the hydrolic side skirts they are using now? No, you haven't because you're a fucking retard. Remind your mommy to not let you out of the closet anymore..

  • Care to elaborate how those "mods" would save them if they were to decide to drive into a tornado with winds of greater than 150 mph? Also, please don't just call me ignorant names, prove your statements you make with some facts or evidence. Thank you.

  • Twister244 , thanks for the PM, but I have a girlfriend and am not interested. maybe a blow up toy from Wal-Mart will tide you over, lolol

  • What a rush. I need to start storm chasing... beats covering structural fires

  • ya i cant believe THATS what hit MY town crazy!!

  • Those guys are getting as close as they can safely and only in visible touch down conditions. Maybe you're just a pussy that's jealous because you're gutless. I've driven to close to an f-4 as an amateur without radar or a computer just listening to radio reports and I used the inflow notch to determine whether or not the storm was a right mover. If you have good instincts you can get close but I guarantee you their instincts work for knowing when to get the hell out or they wouldn't be here.

  • Yep, I'm a pussy because I don't drive directly into the path of a rain wrapped tornado..... dude, these people keep trying to get closer and closer and closer to tornadoes. However, they are becoming increasingly more dumb with time. Did you notice how they were parked right up against power lines when the first arrived? How smart is that? Like I said, had that tornado decided to quickly re intensify into a small wedge, their car would have been tossed off the road.

  • that guy is unneccisarily talking loud haha

    so annoying

  • great :D youre guys not have shit to the tornado ?

  • That's a WEDGE!! haha

  • Think the pig was the wipers squealing.

Good image though - really the day when pigs fly.

    :D

  • anyone else here the pig squealing at 6:30

  • that was the windscreen wiper

  • That = BADASS!

  • Does any one think that these guys got too close?

  • Nah... not too close. Just close enough.. lol. Good stuff Reed! You crazy bastard... lmao

  • omgi live in kirvile but it did not hit my house

  • I live near Hy-Vee and heard the freight train sound

  • I feel sorry for Josh and the TIV, they need to team up with Reed from now on...

  • i agree, the TIV shure needs to do this. I remember he tried last year but Josh got mad/jealous

  • Luv it cant wait till the fall!!!

  • You guys always have the BEST videos!!

  • sometimes i wish i didnt live in california.... i really want to see or be in one damit.

  • this vid is pretty sweet saying that i live in kirksville :D thank god i was at the south point in town when it hit.

  • And they say Detroit can't build a good car...

That Chevy just went through a tornado!

  • I'm buying a Chevy!

  • at 3:12 , what is that sound that continues on in the video.. please reply

    awesome vid! thanks for! sharing

  • those are Tornado sirens

  • wow they are doing amazing this year and going to rock sc3 and reed got into the tornado on first year for srv and josh still hasnt done well. even though svr isnt made to go into tornado's

  • Thunderbolt tornado siren

  • Hey Reed, Good job with that tornado! :)

  • good job reed and chris

  • looks like you were inside a carwash...

    just kidding ;-)

congrats, Reed and Chris. Was Joel with you too ?

  • Ouch.. this tornado formed May 13th, my birthday.

    ,_,

  • I like you Guys. At 14.05.2009 we had a small Tornado near Pforzheim, Blackforrest, Germany. 10 houses was demaged. I chase for next!!!

  • I actually was watching the live stream as the Timmer team TIV, as I call it, intercepted the tornado. I could see segments in the video that corresponds with what I saw that day. Thanks to tornado videos for chasing in Missouri that day an bringing this video to us.

  • Sweet vid. Good intercept, way to go guys!

  • Back up !!!

    Reed favorite line !

  • this wouldve been a pretty cool vid without the "storm chasing nerds"

  • lolololol

  • yeah, i wish it too for the TIV team and especially for sean casey whose dream it is to shoot this epic imax footage. i guess when the TVN and the TIV team would work together both of them will reach their goal!

  • crazy chasin, love it!! =P

  • cows got thrown around hard.

  • I am a fan of the show, but I never expected to see you guys this close to where I live! I'm looking forward to seeing this on the show this fall. Glad everyone is okay.

  • Especially at the point of intercept, strap those belts up tight during the next intercept because we don't want anything to happen to the best chaser in the field.

  • that was crazy! Hope I dont miss the show ...

  • thats sooo awesome...great job

  • AHHH the beautifull roar of the Thunderbolt 1003 warning siren

  • that the TIV thats made to go into a tornado the SRV is made for getting close to one and deploy thier probe/pod
