@abeismain I imagine if your currently on Private Insurance, then you are opted out of the program. However, if you dont have private health insurance than you fall under this program. My guess is that it comes out of your taxes in an amount that is probably slightly cheaper than private insurance.
Any other way to make it deficit would probably have to come from other means like fees or taxes on a certain bracket.
@biggydx damn... sounds like I should stop having a private insurance company. And this is very weird. I wonder what was so bad having the same insurance policies and rules as in the 1950s or something.
@abeismain I think there was an attempt during the Johnson Administration for Universal (Single Payer) healthcare in America where if you didnt have Private Insurance you could choose to be in the program IIRC. Its actually cheaper because more people means less overhead in having to take care of others from the Baby boomer generation similar to what going on with SS (which will stay pay out 75% of benefits after 2040).
Compared to other western countries were actually behind on this
God, I hope all these people that voted *against* are NOT reelected. Come on Callie, throw these "I've got mine so I don't care about anyone else" so called reps of the people, out. THROW THEM OUT. THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IS RUN BY USELESS SCUM BAG MIDDLE MEN THAT DO NOTHING BUT SUCK OFF THE ILL AND DISTRESSED.
@Textynn, the people who voted against the bill were republicans. Only one senator who was a Democrat voted no. There were 4 Democrats who were not present or voted not present on this bill bringing it two votes short of passage. Anyway, as it turns out, a motion to reconsider was made last Thursday and passed, but the bill was never read by 1/31/2012, so it can be taken up again until next year.
In this new bill, who pays for it? 2:33 ,
Also, what is the point of this new bill? Money?! This is self destructive, if you ask me.

It cuts California budget costs. This should be a no brainier for anyone not influenced by a lobbyist.

If they don't support the party platform then there should a cost exacted upon them from the very constituents that sent them to Sacramento.
